On some devices if I am not mistaken. On the Google Pixel 3 which does not have dual sim will not allow you to run dual sim and dual apps on one phone with two different login credentials. I could be mistaken..

Did what Apple announced today mean that this can now be done or iPhone and iPads or did I misunderstand..?
I thought it was being able to login as a different user on a device?
But i agree with you about dual sim....that is not anything from a US company for sure. That kind of use case only exists outside of the US. Except the Pixel can use a eSim and sim card too.

No dual sim for Apple device that I know of.
You can use eSim and sim for 2 lines on the P3 though

The Pixel 3 with E-sim can not install two apps to the best of my knowledge for each sim or for each number. One app only, right..? Real dual sim should allow dual apps in my opinion. Dual log in option is even better

You're probably right. But i know it will ask what number you want use when using certain apps.
But separate apps for separate numbers is not available to my knowledge anyway.

I complained to Huawei about this for privacy reasons. Guess what..? Perhaps Huawei did something about it :) If people want it then they can download it themselves. No reason to have it embedded into the OS with no uninstall option.

Hahaha! You inadvertently got your wish

It makes sense for these apps not to be preinstalled, I don’t know why some OEMs preinstall them, as not everyone wants to have Facebook in their phone.

Huawei P30 Pro Camera Quality Review: Proof that Huawei’s ban will hurt innovation
I have been using the Huawei P30 Pro for a few months, and during this period I’ve used it extensively to take some stunning images while mostly staying in my comfort zone, primarily because the superb optical zoom brings everything much closer. It is awe-inspiring to see how Huawei has pioneered in uniting impeccable technology with the art of seizing moments into pictures. All this while, there is one question that I’ve constantly battled – where do you draw the line between a flagship and an affordable flagship? The answer, perhaps, lies in the incredible zoom capabilities of the Huawei Mate 30 Pro, which I talked at lengths in my initial impressions of the smartphone. Now, after a month-long fling with the Huawei P30 Pro, I have come to form my grounds for liking the phone for most occasions while snapping pictures.

Bad part is this cancer is still in my P30 Pro. Every time I uninstall it, it comes back like Aids or Cancer. Not only that but when it comes back it comes back with background refresh turned on. What part of uninstall and Leave does Facebook and Huawei not understand? The other problem is you can only uninstall it from Huawei app gallery but not from Actual apps settings. Actual apps settings only allows you to disable it and not uninstall it while Huawei Apps gallery supposedly allows you to completely uninstall. When you uninstall it it does go away but 30 minutes later it is freaking back again. WTF..?

Regardless of what people think of me for this comment, don’t compare lame apps to AIDS & Cancer. Facebook didn’t take away my mum.

Now it is gone but another hour later or so it manages to grow itself back in the apps section again. It literally is like a cancer in the OS

Sorry about your mom, I lost my grandmother as well. The comment was referring to how the app reappears in the OS like Aids and Cancer. It was not aimed at anyone's family or friends.

I know, I just thought it a little poor comparison. I'll say no more.

It did not take very long to reinstall itself and turn on background data on its own:rolleyes:

I will escalate this again to Huawei. They need a software update to fix and resolve this issue.

I think it’s a deal between the app developer and the OEM. The oem gets paid a certain amount to have the app preinstalled on their devices.

The app developer hopes that people will try the app because it’s there when you set up your phone and then carry on using it.

Indeed!

And I believe with Facebook, they have the most to gain as even if you do not sign in to it, the Facebook app is so baked in it can build a profile on you as it has free reign on your Phone.

I am quite surprised that the Chinese would have agreed to this as to the best of my knowledge they had never allowed this only any of the locally manufactured smartphones for sell in China and from what I saw in the past abroad as well but obviously recently things changed as pockets were filled by Facebook so they preferred money over privacy and security of the end user who bought their Huawei smartphone.

Perhaps I could ask you for a favor.. If possible could you send a complaint feedback to Huawei via their Huawei App Gallery feedback about why the Facebook app keeps coming back when you uninstall it via their Huawei app gallery and why you can only uninstall it there and not in the regular apps under settings.. In all honesty then they pretty much lied to end user by telling you in the Huawei apps gallery that you could uninstall it but in reality can not uninstall it. If you were looking at buying a smartphone you could have bought the smartphone based on belief that it could be uninstalled only later to find out that it can not be uninstalled and that it comes back again after being uninstalled. Either a software bug/error or dishonesty and deception.

Maybe the pre installed apps were for phones being sold outside of China?

I have some trips away coming up, and some tickets booked for some tennis in the UK which I'm really excited for.
Got me thinking of how good the P30 Pro camera would be for the tennis and I wondered whether the recent Huawei news had affected the price of them second hand.

Ended up finding a P30 in my local CEX store for £340. Absolutely pristine, all the accessories in the box which were unused, phone didn't have a mark on it.

So I walked away with it.

Whilst I have no doubt my Pixel 3 camera will be amazing (and I'll be taking that along too), for those shots where I want to zoom the P30 will be better.
The regular model is much nicer to me over the Pro. No curved screen, smaller footprint, easier to use one handed, and the model I have now is the Aurora blue one - which is actually gorgeous.

Slapped Lawnchair Launcher on to make it like a Pixel and it's good to go.

This happen to anyone here?

Huawei's lock screens unexpectedly turn into advertisements
According to Huawei users on Twitter, ads for the hotel reservation site Booking.com are popping up on the lock screen of some Huawei smartphones. As Android Police reports, the ads seem to appear on devices using the preinstalled landscape wallpapers. They've been spotted in several countries -- including the UK, Netherlands, Ireland, South Africa, Norway and Germany -- and on various models.

What colour was your Pro?

I honestly wish I got my Pro in that Breathing Crystal colour, it has to be the most stunning phone colour I have ever seen

The standard P30 has the same Zoom levels as the Mate 20 Pro right? So 3x Optical and 5x Hybrid, which is more than enough for most anyway.

Congratulations!

Apparently the June security patch is now out for P30 and P30 Pro, need to get my P30 Pro out and update this weekend.

Huawei's lock screens unexpectedly turn into advertisements

it's a hot topic this morning throughout Europe;

Here are the new updates Terms for Huawei''s Themes:

•Sales promotion and marketing purposes, including creating aggregated target groups for marketing. Knowing our customers' preferences enables us to target our offers and offer products and services that better meet the needs and desires of our customers. You can object to such processing as described in Section 5.5 below.

If I read this correctly, it means that the chances of seeing ads is getting more then common in the (near) future on Huawei's devices. And mostlikely also elsewhere on your Huawei phone.

This could be the dead of Huawei (smartphone division), IF (!!) true. Especially with all the news around Huawei lately.

I don't use magazine lock screen, so hasnt happened to me.
I turn it off so my lock screen is the same as my wallpaper.

My Pro was breathing crystal which was nice, but the Aurora colour is really lovely in the flesh. Much better than in pics.

As it's inly a secondary device, I wasn't really bothered about colour and blue would have been my last choice, but it's really quite striking.

Yeah I also turn off the Magazine Lockscreen, I have not seen it since the Mate 20 Pro since I use Phone Clone so I just clone my setup on the new Huawei.

My P30 Pro is Aurora, but I definitely prefer the Breathing Crystal, had both in hand at the launch party, and wish I had taken Breathing Crystal but they only had Aurora units when I was fetching it.
