and stop telling buyers that Mr. Jobs is the greatest guy in the world. I am turned off by the junk this company is selling for good money.

YESSSS, the OS is fantastic, most of the APPLE software is, but there's NO EXCUSE for 20%
lemons this company has been exchanging for peoples hard earned money.

It is not just since the MBP and MB has been introduced, I know people which had plenty of hardware problems, such as flickering and wobling screens, dying HDs, bad keyboards.

It is TAIWAN junk.

IF and WHEN they get their act together I buy...

WAIT...

am I not the only one that find this odd?

Arent ALL macs now made in China? Yet this guy tells us that it is Taiwan junk? I definitely know my Macs (iPods, PowerBook, and MacBook) came from China because thats where it says it was made and thats where it said it was shipped from too.

You know I sort of agreed with your comment... I know I won't be buying a MacBook until I see all of their problems ironed out. The Taiwan comment was a little moronic though. Yeah, I'd rather have a 100% made in the US computer... too bad they don't exist. :p

Hey David,
Yes, you're right, I overshot the target a bit with my negative comment about TW. You see, there's junk made in TW and there is quality. The problem for a company like APPLE is to get consistent quality, and that requires stringend QC application by a corporate (APPLE) representative at the factory (a diligent <picky>person). In the case of the MBs and MBPs it shows first sluggish R&D and bad QC>

Whether the products are made in the US, Germany, the PRC or TW is irrelevant if R&D, then QC does their job.

:D

Yeah... sorry... no.
iLife is one of the major selling points of Macs. It's also a good reason to buy a Mac. If you don't want it, a Mac is not worth your money. Just because you don't use it doesn't mean it's not good software and shouldn't be included in the price.

Why not make it an option then? "Add $69 for iLife 06!"

Oh that's right, because Apple figured that iLife sucks so hard that if it were to be made an option NOBODY will get it. That's low.

yes, damn apple for thinking the average user would want to do something more than use the internet on their computers, damn them for thinking us creative enough to use ilife to acctually create something, damn them to hell.

it costs apple nothing to include the software for free and it's a large selling point, they make far more money on the sales of more macs than they loose in lost ilife sales, heck they probably make more sales when people buy the updated version every MWSF.

personally i think apple should go back to bundleing ilife with OS X, that way far more users would update.

.....?

Oh no! I don't get to choose lots of freeware for my Mac! Apple pretty much has most software areas covered, and even if you do have to pay for them, you're getting what you pay for with things like FCS and Logic. Also, how is RAM for the Mac more expensive? From Apple's website, yes, but after reading these forums you should be smart enough to know you can get around Apple's high RAM prices by going to DMS or OWC.

Mac can run most Linux apps in X... so there is a HUGE freeware base for Mac OS X.

The RAM is the same RAM you buy for normal computers, they just charge a premium because they can -- just like every other computer seller.

I use PC and Mac at the same time...
And I'm pretty sick of both sides' claims such as "NO PROGRAM!!!" "VIRUS!!!" etc...

Guys. Give each other some respect.
They are both great.
