The SE is simply the best smaller phone available, at least in my country. It's smaller that I prefer rather than settle for.

SE is not about settling at all (for me) - It's about vastly preferring the small form factor.
They could do basically nothing to it save for camera & CPU/GPU spec bumps over time and I'll keep buying it.

Happy to have an iPhone SEX at some point, but in no rush at all and not at the expense of physical size.

Some buy the SE for price, which is great, and many of us buy it for size.
It's also pretty wonderful that you can buy it for BOTH reasons and it's a STEAL of a deal for what it offers.

Would rather buy seven SEs for the same price as one X. So I can give them away and I wouldn't be the only person happy.

Still the best Apple bargain ever. I poke the back of the SE and space gray X and nothing on the SE. Smudge-resistant. Thanks, matte finish.

My issues stems from the OS with a couple critical apps I need and iOS surprisingly has both inferior (Dasher, SwiftKey) which keeps iPhones secondary for work. But for hardware, the SE is the best iPhone inside/out.

Just give me gesture controls in a future software update and I'm good.

I was at the Apple Store today and played with an X

I'm sorry, but what a huge pile of "meh".

The best thing about it for me was simply the OLED screen, the beauty of which I've become accustomed to with my living room TV. Beyond that, it's a weird (very tall) bar shape and some iterations. Well done I guess?

Removing home is fine I think, but I'd need more time to know for sure - I didn't get to use Face ID since it was a demo, but just "whatever" - I'm sure that's great but I have no issue with TouchID as it is on my SE and iPP anyhow.

I'd simply refuse to shell out north of $1k for one of those.
It's a very nice iteration, but in no way doing anything in some revolutionary fashion that dictates a whole new level of Apple gouging.

I was more content than ever to grab my SE out of my pocket.
Feels amazing. Perfect size for me.

On these newer phones like the X, I really wish they'd go back to flat device sides like the SE.
It would help immensely in making it easier to get a good grip on.

The 6 and on are such oddly slippery devices that you are shifting around in your hand all the time.
I completely hate that.

Anyhow. X is fine.
Enjoy all. I have literally zero interest in it.

(don't need snarky responses - if you love the X, enjoy - no harm no foul)

I had a 7+ and was constantly tempted to switch to the SE. I really wanted the larger screen of the + models, but I loved the smaller form factor. So the iPX seemed like a great option for me. And so far I’m happy with my choice.

Out of curiosity, seeing it's now a few weeks later, would you today still choose the iPX over the SE?

Kind of reviving and old thread.
OP, if you're still on the forum. Have you changed to another phone or still rockin the SE?

Not the OP, but looking at the OP's post history, it appears they've purchased and 11Pro. See here:

I guess the crappy camera was too crappy for OP...

I'd absolutely use the SE if it wasn't for the camera. I used to have a Sony A6000 but it's just so cumbersome to carry around all the time.

Oh yeah, I didn't think of looking at their history. Thanks.

Tend to agree, love the SE form factor but cam not so good. Just picked up another 11 Pro yesterday (4th tryout) we'll see if it sticks this time haha! PS still have my SE and won't sell it, I use it for sports (cycling) or whatever when you really want a small device for emergencies or whatever.

You should wait to pick up the 5.4" in September and try that out instead. You might find that it sticks much better. 😁 It is definitely the one for me after the SE and then XS.

The battery life, performance and screen improvements over the X may be worth the price of admission, though not for me. ^

I’ll step in for the OP......still using my launch-day SE, and I can afford any of the phones that Apple and Samsung make, including the Fold. In fact, I can afford one of each model at the same time. :D

Now, having said that, I know full-well that my usage is different that the average person under 40 today....I actually use my phone as phone rather than to consume media or play games on it, and it’s still perfect for calls, texts, emails, music, and yes, photos. I don’t post photos to Instagram nor do I work for National Geographic, and the SE does family pictures just fine, thanks. Heck, it even does slo-mo video to help analyze my son’s baseball swing! However, it’s quite possible I will FINALLY upgrade to the 5.4” IF it’s at all smaller than the 6/7/8. Really hoping it will have squared off edges, too.....just so much easier to hold and use, IMHO.

I've switched back to SE 3 times after each try with iPhone 7 and 7+, x, and 11 pro went back to SE, for some reason I'mm stuck with XR the last few months and Im not happy (the reason I sold SE as was upset that apple announced discontinuation of SE forever they lied I guess) in anticipation for SE 2 thus not buying old SE because of that reason. XR is annoyingly brick like and cannot use with one hand maybe half a screen also heavy annoying in pocket its sick; Unfortunately apple decided to copy iPhone 8 for its next version of SE 2 which is not my cup of tea as its ugly phone, big and cannot use with one hand thus I'm hoping iPhone 12 the smallest version is the one where they will use SE design with squared edges and smaller size hopefully can be used with one hand and is not bulky for pocket

No way could I go back to such a small screen and crappy camera.
Thats ridiculous camera is same on all iPhones except th last version where they added artificial double zoom (not really a zoom) and artificial depth again fake (get real camera for great photos at least on occasion).
Smaller screen is perfect unless you are one of those people that has no life and is addicted to games and walks with their head with phone to their face while walking like zombie like they are saving the world that they must look at the screen while walking it crucial hey they may miss something most ridiculous thing even older people are doing it now its embarrassing (but thats another topic). Its a combination of factors that attracts people to smaller phone and thats how easy is to use with one hand, place in pocket without much bulk...just look how its so ugly especially for females when they put that brick in their back pocket its pathetic. Sure same or similar size with screen to edges is a plus feature so the hope is iPhone 12 (the smallest version will give s that SE 2 look that we want...the SE 2 they are planning with iPhone 8 ugly huge brick like size is not something we want

The chamfered edges on the iPhone 4/5/SE make the phones a dream to hold. You absolutely do not need to use a case on these phones because they're so easy to hold.

Fingers crossed the iPhone 12 will have a design like the 4/5/SE and that the 5.4" iPhone will get the same treatment (even if it isn't a Pro model).

Great another 4 inch circle jerk thread. As if we don’t have enough already.

ya it’s not like small phone lovers have many or any other options. Or are impeding on large phone lovers. Or that there isn’t overlap between the two user bases since it’s all iOS. The fact that a 4”phone can get the latest version and not be totally terrible, 4 Major OS’s / 4 years later, is remarkable really

se2/iphone9 where are you at ?

in a mood today .. :D

are you guys gonna get the iphone9 that is an iphone8 a13 drop in? Or pass?

It depends on the price. I really like the iOS eco system and even though my second phone is an Android, i enjoy the iPhone much more, specially the cameras are always way better than anything i saw on Android.

However, the 11 is too expensive for me, so my price range is something between 300-500.

So i will wait for official prices and first buyer reviews, and probably buy it in the first weeks.
