You could always unlock the boot loader and load the updates yourself.
Yeah I really did not want to get into all that mess.
Same boat here as I also have att
I hate them so much. The service is good, but they should have no control of an unlocked phone. I paid outright for this phone, so they don't have a say. Google screwed up on this one. I guess most people don't care, but it's such a pain. What are you going to do when 5.1.1 starts to get pushed out?

The Nillkin case arrived today, it adds no bulk or size really at all to the Nexus 6. I never fumbled using the device naked since it was as large as it is I had my whole hand around it. Now it is that much more grippy so a win all the way round.

I'll read to see what improvements it made and if they're significant I'll remove sim and mash the update button and if I get nothing after a day or two I'll just sideload the OTA as I already have ADB/SDK on my computer.

ATT has become the worst carrier of all carriers. They're absolutely price gouging customers on the hardware typically charging anywhere from 10-20% more than Verizon and they're plans are more expensive than VZW as well as being behind everyone else on every update on every OEM.

Yeah its really a joke. The only reason I keep using then is because I have one of the grandfathered unlimited data plans

Wow. You're lucky I wish I had one of those plans.
Att is horrible but I love Cricket Wireless which uses the ATT network.

So I got the Nexus 6. Brand new 64gb white for $450 on Craigslist.
Need to get home and update it to the latest firmware, even if I have to root.

Love the build of the phone but I have to get used to the bezels. Definitely easier to type on with the nice real estate. Looking forward to more case reviews on here.

I have three lines with unlimited which is why I don't move either.
During AT&T earnings they mentioned they have the lowest churn rate of any of the carriers. As much as people complain about their practices, they don't seem to leave.

So does just taking the Sim card out without resetting the phone work?

Yep that unlimited plan is the only thing keeping me around.

Just scored a 32GB midnight blue model with wireless charger and tempered glass screen shield on Swappa for $425. Wasn't planning on buying one, but when I saw the listing I couldn't resist. Hoping 5.1 improved the performance and battery compared to when I had the Nexus 6 a few months ago on 5.0.1.

When 5.0.1 was released I actually received the update the same exact day it was released and it actually downloaded but when I went to install, it completely disappeared. I read reports of people just pulling the sim and rebooting before checking for the update and it actually working. The other, was people were going into apps and resetting GP services but this has been greatly discouraged by someone from the Android engineering team.

Yeah I reset my phone to factory, and then took the Sim out and booted it up to get the 5.1 update. I am not resetting again

Thought this was interesting: http://www.androidauthority.com/google-nexus-sales-decline-603744/

Google reveals Nexus program has “seen a decline”

Yeah I read that too. Could be several reasons, maybe the large size or price ? But people seem to forget, the Nexus phones were not always budget phones, not at all. Only 2 of the 6 Nexus phones were bargain priced, the other four models were always flagship pricing, I owned them at launch. I actually bought the Nexus-One the month it came out, and also remember waiting in line in December 2010 at my T-Mobile store for the first day sales of the Nexus-S.

This is how I recall Nexus phone pricing at launch;

- Nexus-One - Dec. 2009 = $500 with a 3.7" screen
- Nexus S - Dec. 2010 = $549 with a 4" screen
- Galaxy Nexus - Nov. 2011 = $649 with a 4.7" screen
- Nexus 4 - Nov. 2012 = $350 with a 4.7" screen
- Nexus 5 - Nov. 2013 = $399 with a 5" screen
- Nexus 6 - Nov. 2014 = $649 with a 5.95" screen

Yeah. I think people somehow associated the Nexus branding with low price when the Nexus 4 and 5 were released at those price points back to back. The Nexus 7 was released at a then lower price point compared to the competition as well.

So I sort of get why people mistakenly made that association.

What is this "Star" symbol in the upper right corner in my status bar ? Never saw that before.
