Do you start off by saying ALL Samsung phones.. have you owned every Samsung phone in the world?.. didn't think so, then you move on to saying in your experience. Make your mind up son..
Well maybe I should have said all the Samsung phobes I've ever owned. However I thought you would have got the idea considering that I said in my experience.

That's a good point. I have a co worker that has the 6s and she loves her iphone. But her battery life is not as good as my 6s+. We are both on TMo and our cubes are about 15 feet from each other. At the end of the work day I have in the 60s percent left and she has 40s. We both use our phones in similar fashion. We have compared several times. too.
My co-worker just got a 6s+ and said she gets 2 days of battery. My Note 5 that I got about 2 weeks ago goes to 10% around 8-9pm which is good since I take off the charger at 6am. Still I was thinking I would get about 1.5 days from a charge.

Looks like the iPhone 7 rumors might be true. No headphone jack.

From MBKHD Instagram feed

https://instagram.com/p/BA5Tcy2td1e/

Considering how many times this rumor has been reported, I just assuming at this point that it's going to happen. And considering how Apple does changes, doesn't really surprise me, nor should it anyone else.

Apple has a history of doing exactly this...ditching the CD/DVD drive, using their own proprietary connectors (30 pin, then Lightning), including only a single USB-C connector on the new MacBook. Every time people bitched and moaned about it, swearing they were done with Apple or that Apple was going to crash and burn and every time people got over it. This will be no different---some people will cry endlessly but after a while, most will ultimately adopt the alternative solution and move on with their lives.

Let's face it, the headphone jack is something like century old tech--it was going the way of the Dodo at some point. On the plus side, it's one less piece of hardware that has to be crammed into the iPhone. Maybe this means we'll finally start to see a reduction in the size of the bezels.

I'm commenting on the last paragraph....
I think this is nothing more than a money grap on Apple's part. The technology works just fine. In fact many brag about how good music sounds on their iphones than other phones. The technology might have been around for quite some time well....because it works very well.

Then this change might be different if Apple doesn't stand to gain so much. The change is strictly to a proprietary technology with Apple being the patent holder. They stand to gain a lot from this change just in licensing alone.

Then the real reason for the change is the Beats product line. This is where Apple will stands to gain the most revenue from this. You can explain away the other changes to different standards as improvements Apple may have wanted to make.

But the change to lightning port for audio after the Beats acquisition is just a pure money move. They stand to make millions in new lightning Beats products and licensing. It would be a little different except for the Beats scenario.
Let's see if the bundle lightning headphones with the IP7 or just the same tech with an lightning adapter.
Then you can bet they will sell overpriced lightning adapters as well.

But just knowing the Apple faithful as i do (I tend to be one), they will now doubt shell out big bucks to have the Beat lightning headphones....that at the IP7 release I am sure only Apple will be selling.

Then factor in what about 60 to 80 millions IP7 sales. That is a HUGE money making change for Apple.

Apple is not going to sell an iPhone 7 without lightning based headphones. Ever since i bought the iPhone 4 Apple has had a headphone in the box. That is not going to change anytime soon. The overwhelming majority of iPhone users end using the headphones included in the box. So the idea of a money grab and forcing people to buy Beats headphones is a red herring.

This is just a replay with what happened when Apple switched from the 30 pin connector to the smaller and faster lightning cable. Apple did not force the user to buy the lightning cable separately. It came in the box. It took time for the aftermarket to make quality cables. A year after the intro of the lightning cable, the aftermarket caught up and now it is a total non issue.

Apple will make adapters for those who still want to use their 3.5 mm jack headphones, but you do not have to buy it. It is an option. You can use the stock lightning based headphones that is packaged with the phone. A year after the introduction of the new tech, there will be several quality lightning headphones to choose from and this will be a non issue.

So will we start seeing more usb3 Lightning capable devices?

I've got some powerbeats 2 already. I want some studios or at least solo2 wireless but I'm thinking the next beats iteration will be a lil better sound wise and native lightning charging?

Bang on the money! This exercise is nothing but a money grab by Apple. Even Arn this sites owner was posting how the current Lightning port does everything needed for headphones, so it won't be replaced with some magical one!
And PLENTY of people use their iPhones for music and use expensive headphones, they do not want to be forced to buy adapters and they certainly aren't going to replace their headphones just because Apple wants more profits.

Their is nothing wrong with the headphone jack, their is nothing that can replace it across the entire industry, (the majority seem to say Bluetooth headphones and even Apples implementation of Bluetooth are rubbish).

And I also do not accept the, everyone just uses the headphones included in the box, argument either, their would be a vastly reduced headphone market if that was the case.

Apple would no doubt make the iPhone even thinner and fit an even less powerful battery, but that's what the ugly Apple hump battery case is for right? Oh and to make Apple more money.

One day Apple will sell an empty box, you will have to buy the phone components separately at additional cost, the box will still cost $600 though and it's fans will praise them from the rooftops for their utterly amazing innovation and ingenuity.....

I hope they do include lightning earpods. But personally...i don't use them. I have headphones i use already. In fact I have several for different occasions. I have a set in my gym bag.....at my desk at work...in my work backpack. Then I have a set at home on a light stand I use with my iphone and ipad. I don't like the fact that the bundles earpads let too much background noise in.
Universally all the informal polls taken seem to indicate most Apple fans do not want the headphone jack to go away.

I don't think you will see any lightning accessories until just before the IP7 launch. My gut tells me Apple will be the only ones selling them for a while to maximise their profits at the IP7 launch. Then they will let other companies sell lightning products but only a couple months after the IP7 launch.

Since you are wise to their shameless attempt at a money grab are you going to buy the iphone 7? And if you do, will that stop you from buying accesssories?

For me, if I want the ip7 I'm going to buy it and if I want accessories I'm going to buy them also. I really don't care about their motives...the price is the price.

There WILL BE lightning EarPods or Bluetooth EarPods in the box. I am so certain that I am willing to bet on it. Are you willing to place a bet on it? Say $20?

You have the option to buy the adapter for the many headphones that you have. You have the option not to buy the new iPhone 7 altogether and stick to the Nexus brand.

Informal polls were also opposed to Apple ditching the 30 pin connector cable. Informal polls were also opposed to Apple ditching the DVD player on the MacBook. Apple does not run its business on polls and focus groups. Apple does what it wants to do. You, as a consumer, have the power to either buy their product or get something else. That is the only power that you have. So when the iPhone 7 plus comes along and it does not have the headphone jack, DO NOT buy it.

Or you can wait for the 7s Plus. By that time there will be plenty of lightning headphones available form the aftermarket.

I think the reality is somewhere between these two points.

A money grab by Apple? To some extent yes, but a corporation devising a strategy to generate more income---shocking!;)

But I'm sorry Apollo, your reasoning in bold is pure rubbish. You're essentially saying the analog headphone jack is the pinnacle of development and should never be changed. That's like saying we never should have moved past vinyl, 8-tracks, or cassette tapes.

Your argument is a complete regurgitation of everything said when Apple ditched the 30-pin connector. There were not stop posts by people complaining that they'd now have to repurchase all of their cabLes and accessories (and there were plenty of expensive versions of those too). The folks who use expensive headphones now while either decide that their headphones are more important to their experience than the iPhone and switch phones (plenty of choices) or they'll get different headphones. And if enough people choose the former and Apple sees a significant drop in iPhones sales, then maybe they'll reconsider their decision. The more likely scenario is that most people using traditional wired headphones will grumble for a moment, then pick a wireless or lightning port compatible solution and move on with their lives and in a year or two this will all be ancient history.

But portraying this like the consumer is getting screwed is preposterous. People can easily vote with their wallets and choose something other than the iPhone, simple as that. My guess is most complaining here are overvaluing most people's ties to their headphones. And most people actually going the latter route doesn't mean they're sheep as some here love to portray them as but rather that most people don't care that much because they probably don't spend more than $30 on whatever wired headphones/earbuds they use..a far cry from the $650+ they spend on the actual iPhone itself.

I'm sorry, but removing the headphone jack is different than what Apple has done in the past, as the only one who benefits from this move is apple.

If you look at the past, when Apple ditched a technology it was to push a better technology forward and into the mainstream. A cd drive was a huge leap forward from the floppy, digital downloads were far more convenient than CDs while also providing the latest version of the files you were getting, and the lightning cable was far superior to the 30 pin, it's more durable and easier to plug in.

But what's the advantage of the lightning to the 3.5mm headphone jack? Is sound going to be better? Will they be able to do things with headphones that they couldn't other wise with 3.5? If I get lightning headphones will I be able to use them anywhere else, such as with my computer, audio receiver, non Apple phone or tablet, home theater system, Xbox, ps4, portable gaming device, in the airplane, ect.? What are the benefits to us the consumers of having lightning headphones instead of 3.5mm? That is what makes this situation different.

Allegedly, Steve Jobs once said that consumers do not know what they want until it its presented to them. Apple operates on that principle. People hate change. They want much of the same experience that they have always had. When Apple introduced the iPhone, it did not have a physical keyboard. Had you asked focus groups and polled people what they wanted in their cell phone, then they would have told you a physical keyboard. Apple threw the keyboard out the window and now you will be hard pressed to find a phone with a physical keyboard. So no, consumers do not know what is best for them. The headphone jack is too big and too bulky by today's standards. It has to go.

When I first got the 3.5 inch iPhone 4, even I, a novice, noticed that the damn jack took too much space in the iPhone. I often wondered why isn't there anything better out there. That thing is huge, takes an inch of space inside the phone and that is not including the accessories to make it function. It is also analog when most new tech is digital. Change is needed here. I welcome it. You do not. Fine. Just do not buy the iPhone 7.

Then you say the headphone jack takes up too much room....but the huge bezels are ok?
Personally I don't think it will hurt Apple's sales. One thing for sure the Apple faithful will but whatever iphone Apple releases next October. I think Apple knows this too. They can afford to make unpopular changes without it hurting sales.

That's is different, sure the iPhone didn't have a physical keyboard, but it did have a software keyboard that had advantages over a physical one.

I agree, change is needed. The 3.5mm jack is ancient, but a proprietary solution is not the answer. It needs to be universal.

Steve Jobs was one of the most arrogant and loathsome people that you could eve meet. He used to lease the same car every 6 months simply to avoid getting license plates. He used to park in the handicap parking spot. The guy was an ******* as a person, but he was a genius when it came to design and knowing what the consumers wanted before they knew what they wanted. Apple is totally arrogant and self serving.

These are the first large iPhones that Apple introduced. Apple is new to the large phone game. The bezels should shrink moving forward. Apple should remove the home button in future iterations. There should be an onscreen touch id and force touch already makes double pressing the home button unnecessary for calling the app switcher. Force Touch will replace more functions that the home button does. Once the home button is gone, then the bezels will shrink. Apple is obsessed with symmetry. It will not shrink the top bezel without shrinking the bottom one too. that can only happen when the home button goes away.

But the same statement could be thrown out at Samsung and the removal of SD card last year from its flagships.

Personally re:headphone port, as long as they throw in an adapter or a decent pair of Bluetooth earphones I'll begrudgingly accept it, I'm not adverse to change if the change is universal, my biggest issue is that the lightning port is proprietary to Apple devices and not even Apple Computers have it, meaning a pair of lightning headphones are very limited to a subset of devices making a decent pair very much a luxury and awkward for multiple usage.

So guess i have to get with the times and go Bluetooth, but I've resisted so far because I have so many things to charge at night, another something is also a bit of a pita, and guaranteed I'll forget to charge them and they will be discharged when i want them.

There is a universal solution--Bluetooth wireless. ;)

I understand what you're saying but when has Apple cared about the rest of the industry? They've always used proprietary connectors (30 pin, Lighning, MagSafe) and make hardware decisions bases on their own whims (the aforementioned omission of the CD/DVD drive, NOT adopting Blu Ray drives when it was becoming commonplace in their PC counterparts, inclusion of only a single USB-C connector in their MacBooks). This will likely be no different.

I'm not trying to justify their decision per se--don't really have a dog in this fight as I ditched wired headphones years ago but people's flabbergasted responses to this rumor is amusing. What's the cliche--'a tiger can't change it's stripes or a leopard can't change it's spots', something like that. Apple is doing exactly what they've done for years--looking after their own self interests. If people are so aghast, then just stop buying their stuff--seems pretty simple. Nothing will make this point clearer than a hit to the bottom line. I just don't see it happening.
