Wait and see what the Pixel 3 will offer.

TBH if the camera is important to you, Pixel is the best now. But as others have said, it's not a flawless phone. Hopefully the Pixel 3 will improve certain issues.

For someone out of the loop, what issues does the Pixel range currently have, other than absurd pricing in my country?

I’d also recommend looking into the Nokia 8 Sirocco, it’s on the Android one programme so vanilla android and should get similar support to the pixel, and it clocks in from about £650 for a 128GB model. I don’t think it’s quite as bleeding edge as the others, but it’s still a powerful phone with a SD 835 and 6GB of RAM and that’s a big price difference...

This was just in 2017: https://www.androidauthority.com/pixel-2-xl-issues-so-far-813985/

In 2018: https://www.forbes.com/sites/paulmo...s-pixel-2-has-a-serious-problem/#2b5ba9692176

Also a few days ago, Google accidentally REMOTELY activated Battery Saver mode on loads of Pixels. Plus a lot of reports about lag (which is ironic).

TBH there are too many issues to name. I've been absurdly lucky with my unit, barely had any issues. But loads of people in the Pixel 2 thread have had multiple issues.

Which is why I am going iPhone XR. Sadly, I have backed myself into a corner because I find Android is more contemporary while Apple is more sluggish with innovation.

The iPhone X has given me so many technical problems that I want to get rid of it ASAP. I was in the car earlier and it dropped bluetooth while it was connected to the infotainment system and it just hangs when I try to reconnect it.

There's no way I will ever give this company another dollar.

Is this supposed to be an Apple bashing thread or a thread to get advice on what phone to get? So far you have not responded to the many people who have been giving actual advice and instead just posted two replies about how you are swearing off Apple for good. No one has argued you wanting to change. You don't need to defend your position on that any further.

It's not an Apple bashing thread, I just am unsure about what I want I guess. I may stick with my iPhone X until its up for trade in (March) and see what looks better the Pixel 3, Note 9, or S-10

The best smartphone available as of 09-17-18 is the Google Pixel 2 XL. Stock Android is so smooth, even one year later it doesn't lag or have any issues to speak of. My Wife and I both have the phone, and it's the best stable trouble free smartphone we have ever owned.

For this Fall the best smartphone releases, in this order:

- OnePlus 6T
- Pixel 3 XL
- Galaxy Note 9 ( Exynos version only )

That's pretty much it, I won't even list the new Apple phones, just no reason too, I wouldn't use those if they were free. iOS just sucks.

OP, if you have Verizon there are usually sales on Pixel devices at Best Buy. I got my Pixel 2 XL for $550 a couple months ago. Hell of a price for this phone. No Android phone is worth paying top dollar for, imo. I paid full price for an S9 and sold it after 4 months, what a waste. I'd keep the iPhone X and either jump on a Pixel 2 XL when prices fall again, or get a Pixel 3 maybe on a black Friday or other sale after that. If Samsung wants to charge Apple prices, they should provide proper customer support, monthly updates, and prompt full version updates. Never buying Samsung again.

Don't listen to the vloggers. Yes QC overall has been a problem with the Pixel 2. When you get a good one it is a great experience. My Pixel 2 XL has zero lag and battery life is fantastic. I've had no growing pains with 9.0 and have not experienced any bugs. Yeah the battery saver remote setting change that happened is creepy. I'm over it.

I’m excited to see the Pixel 3 (non-xl) tomorrow. That will probably be my next phone. I currently have an IPhone 8 to keep my foot in the Apple pool. And I have the Samsung Galaxy S9, which is an nice phone but the battery drains too quickly for my needs.

Now it's the best time to go with the Note 9. Most feature packed phone with a huge battery and no notch. The Pixel 3 is a true disappointment.

That huge battery however doesn't last as long as a 4000 mah should Be warned. I had one, and my MAX out lasts it by several hours in life.

That depends on usage. MAX maybe will last longer on standby, but with active use I think the Note 9 will definitely beat the max.

If this is common, test another phone to prove the issue isn't caused by the Bluetooth in your car.

If it is the phone, make use of the best after sales service & take it in to get looked at. If it's Bluetooth is somehow faulty, chances are you'll get a new phone on the spot.

Realise you didn't want this suggestion, but swapping phones willy nilly without investigating the fault is going to cost you bigtime.

I‘m sure it varies with ones usage patterns.
Same usage, my Max outlasts my Note 9 by several hours.

Here goes mib1800 picking up youtube videos that meet his goal. Sorry, but the Note 9 doesn't last as long as the MAX being under load. or in use. And this is by far most peoples experiences.

Your Note 9 was probably in the initial setup updating all the apps and stuff, it could also be defective in which case you should have returned it for a new one.

Why don't we eliminate all the subjectivity and use the geekbench battery test? Note 9 is still better in this aspect. If you don't use your max a lot it will last longer definitely. But use it heavily most probably not.

See the second half of video for geekbench battery test.

No, I owned it for a month. It was way past that stage. And many others noticed the decrease in life after the first update on androidcentral.

And you trust that test that put the Note 9 in 1080p mode? Of course if you have to downgrade the Note 9 to make the battery last longer, of course. But why would I do that? The Note 9 should last at its 1440p setting.

Again, your posts are always FUD and ridiculous. No one takes you seriously any more.

Did anyone cry foul like you did now when previous iPhones were lower resolution in battery test?

In reality, I find little difference in battery between 1080p and 1440p. Of course, you won't believe even if it's true :p

You know why those tests you shown are skewed? Because they use full brightness. Note9 at 1440p resolution at full brightness, you are lighting up many more pixels which drain much more battery. Oled power use is not proportional to brightness. Higher brightness uses much more power. In normal use, you never set to full brightness.

It's well known for updates to effect battery life in a negative way, same for iOS You should have reset the phone in order to really see if the battery life performance got effected.

And you continue to make up crap. Anyone else that posts stuff you don't agree with, you make something up to make it look bad. I am not going to get into this argument with you that you continue to have with users on this site. I am surprised you are still here. @I7guy

iPhone XS Max is better than all 3 you mention. They'll rarely see an update whilst the Max will be updated when the others are obsolete.
