How durable these skins are?
How many years remain in good shape and condition?
I mean what kind of things are you doing to your macbook? I have trouble coming up with ideas for that, like are you scraping it regularly with fork or put some coins into bag with it?

I bought it to get rid of fingerprints everywhere, it wont protect it from falls and stuff.

For condition, top and bottom should last years, palm rest and trackpad get in contact with oils from hands, combined with how much do you use them, it really depends.

Mainly office work.
I take care of my stuff and of course my mbp a lot.
But, an accidental incident can always happen.

no skin will help you in case of a drop, but when you remove that skin in 2 years it looks like a brand new macbook!

Am I the only one who prefers not to put skin to the area of touchpad?

I think that I will lose the right feeling, the right control on my mbp.

I also received a dBrands skin for my 2021 MBP16 and not overly thrilled with it.

Since 2013 I have covered my MBPs and MBAs with various skins from various manufactures. I have installed at least 10 of these skins. All had about 1/16 to 1/8" relief from the edges to allow for variation in placement.

However, this dBrand skin has zero relief. If you do not place it exactly, then you are over the edge on the other side. For example, for the skin that covers the area surround the trackpad I am off by less than 1/32" inside the right side. Because the skin is made exactly to the flat area, I am over by about 1/32" on the left side. The skin cuts into my arm.

And all of the surfaces covered by this dBrand skin do not allow for slight variation in placement.

Same thing for the holes that accommodate the the rubber stands. These are the exact dimension of the OD of the rubber stands. With a slight mis-alignment the holes are slightly raised around the stands. These holes need to be a little larger to accommodate slight variation in placement.

Never had a skin that requires absolute perfection in placement.

My impression is that dBrand skins for the 2021 MBP16 are ill conceived. All dBrand did was take the OD of the flat areas and CADed it up without taking into account potential variation in manufacturing or placement.

The dBrand's skin for the 2021 MBP16 is a poorly designed product and should be avoided.

I totally agree.
It is of great quality, but they have zero tolerance in the right placement.
And even in a perfect placement, there are issues.

In the 4 areas of the 4 rubber stands, the skin is slightly inflated, due to the lack of a larger cut in these areas.
The worst thing was about the bottom screws.
I have no doubt that if my mbp ever goes to service, they will have to remove the bottom skin in order to be able to remove the screws.

In the past I had a palmrest cover/sticker from 'moshi'. It was perfect.
For some strange reason they do not have any skins/stickers for 2021 models till now.

why buy a mac if you want the look and feel of a plastic laptop? (a plastic cover o v e r the most perfect touchpad ever made?!?!? I guess I should start selling rainwater, dust or something - there's a market for everything...)

These dbrand skins, look really classy and high quality.
So it does not look like a cheap plastic laptop.

The problem seem to be, the absolute cuts and the placement on the mbp.

The aluminum body is great from many aspects,
but it is so easy to get scratches...

If only BestSkinsEver was still around. Their matte skins were the absolute best skins around.

I just receiver skin from aliexpress. Not dbrand. ?? Same color of my space gray macbook.

But I dont like the trackpad sticker really. It feel way less smooth. So I just remove it.

I was ready to buy similar skins from ebay.
The only reason I did not proceed it,
it was my fear that these skins may have adhesive issues in the future.
Otherwise they seem to be very nice ones.

Has anyone filmed this skin after a year or two? Can you see the colour transition where the skin was and where it wasn't?

is it safe to get the radtech keyboard cover cloth for the 2021 MBPs? concerned about screen cracking from the added internal pressure considering the tight gap tolerance

Am I the only one, that I do not prefer a skin, in touchpad area?
no. touchpad skins make no sense to me other than for looking cool. it's not similar to a screen protector on a touch screen bc the skin's texture is more rough than the glass trackpad so it's gonna degrade the smooth experience.

I've always had good results from dBrand. I don't use skins on my Macs, but I've used them on iPads, and I currently have one on my Switch that looks so nice other than the spot where I screwed it up.

I also like DecalGirl--seems to be very similar quality for a lot less $$.

I would very much like to try DecalGirl for my late 2021 MBP16 as I am unhappy with the dBrand product--no relief from the edges. Must be applied perfectly. Unfortunately, DecalGirl does not offer a cut-out for the Apple Logo.

I use dBrand all the time on my phones. They provide adequate protection and I like everything matte black when possible.

Oh.... and to answer how I protect the plastic case...

View attachment 880126

I admit, there is seriously something wrong with me.

[automerge]1575150504[/automerge]
I removed one right before I sold it. It had been on about nine months. Absolutely no residue whatsoever.

By the way, if you follow theYouTube video put out by Dbrand, it is difficult to screw up. The most important part is the initial edge placement. Once that is perfect, everything lines up perfectly.

what case are you using, I mean about the last image
