I have been an iPhone[whatever] PLUS user since it was invented but as I was setting up an old SE for a relative, the neat tinyness became alluring.. Anyone else gone back to an SE from the PLUS?

Not the old SE no, but having had an XR for a while now, I use my old 6S now and then and just fall in love with its small size again...
I use zoomed screen mode a lot though so if they make a new SE based on the iPhone 8, with zoomed screen mode, an A12 CPU and the camera from the XR I’ll be very tempted by it..
Let’s see what they launch.

Yes, it's nice having a small phone in your pocket, and it's nice when the weight of the phone isn't very heavy. BUT, the screen and the battery life of my Max are phenomenal. I couldn't give that up.
I don’t think I could go back to an SE, even given the size. Why? I think the A9 processor is going to really start aging once iOS 13 releases. For some, they might be OK with the sluggishness of the A9 performance, but I personally would rather wait until 2020 to see what Apple has in store for a smaller iPhone that’s been rumored for quite some time now, approximately around 5.4 inches.

Yep. It was Apple’s greatest design. You can walk down the street, text one-handed, browse one-handed, gets great battery life. It’s a smartphone without being like a tablet / computer. It feels like a PHONE, which is important...adds to the value.
To this day I see a ton of SE’s in the wild and still being used. It’s baffling to me Apple will no longer make a smaller device.
I am a semi-pro typist (120wpm) and I find it’s easier for me to type on the SE. I’m much faster than on my 6S+ because there is less space your fingers have to travel to reach each key, and I swear that it’s also somehow more accurate. Maybe the technology in the screen has an easier time with smaller screens.
Eh I upgraded. Went through two SE devices and another two batteries due to...battery issues. I always use good quality chargers, but I'm a heavy user. I'd rack up charge cycles fast on it. I also had bluetooth issues with it. Idk...seemed to be a...budget phone. Love the XR compared to it
I've got an old iPhone 5 for a backup and a Plus iPhone for daily use. I can't stand the little screen on the 5. Same size as SE. But if you like it, then it's good for you.
But as mentioned above, I too can type much faster on the 5 than my Plus phone (index finger hunt & peck, not two thumbs) and keyboard input is much faster without lag on the little screen.

My gf wanted an XR after her 6s broke so I gave her my XR and bought a used SE off eBay in excellent condition.
It’s still a fantastic device! Fast, great to hold and use the only noticeable issue is going from the XR battery to the SE. Just means an earlier charge in the evening.
If they can ever make an SE2 or equivalent then Apple can name their price.

I've had Plus-sized phones since the 7, and an XS Max since launch. Recently I bought a 128 gb SE, "renewed", from Amazon, and I can't seem to decide once and for all where my SIM card will stay.
The SE feels almost as fast, save for unlocking. I wish it had 2nd-gen Touch ID, but that's not a dealbreaker. The design of the SE is more elegant. I never needed a case until the 7 Plus. The camera is adequate, but I don't take a lot of pictures. More for quick note taking than photography. I feel better about using it and carrying it in my pants pocket while I'm doing active things, since it's less liable to fall or bend, and if it does, or if I smack it against something, it would be much cheaper to repair or replace. Of course I love the compactness and the lightness. I don't feel like I need a watch when it's so easy to fish the SE out of my pocket.
The thing that I most appreciate about the XS Max is that it's an unparalleled ebook reader, in that 1. It's always with me, unlike a Kindle, 2. The screen is very sharp indeed, and 3. OLED technology allows me to turn the brightness way down in a dark room. My wife is a light sleeper, so inverting colors in the Kindle app and then reducing white point is the only way I can read in bed.
But I'm going back to paper books, and with AirPods I can listen to podcasts in bed instead of reading. I also don't watch a lot of video, nor do I play a lot of iOS games, and I'm weaning off Instagram, Twitter, and Reddit. And the big, beautiful screen of the XS Max makes these things nearly irresistible.
I always thought text input on the bigger phones was faster, but the difference really isn't significant. Placing the cursor by holding the space bar was a big improvement. One could argue working–as in email, messages, Zoom calls, banking, various web apps, and remoting into PCs and Macs–is better on the Max, but I don't do the last thing very often, and reducing the default text size makes the others just as efficient. I'm blessed with good eyesight.
I guess I really want to use the SE as my one phone. It's the smallest possible device that can do the things I really want to be doing on a phone–listening to podcasts and music, checking and responding to messages and email, making calls, taking pictures, quickly looking stuff up, taking down notes and reminders, getting directions–and it's also perfectly capable of printing full-size documents for easier reading.
But somehow the XS Max always draws me back.

I'm an 8 Plus user but still have a functioning iPhone 5 that I charge up and turn on from time to time. The tiny form factor is very endearing, and the portability can't be argued. But for me, in the end, the novelty soon wears off as little more than a curiosity. The Plus is heavy and unwieldy by comparison, but the reward is a device that is tenfold better at being a portable personal computer.
i have an iphone 7 and is perfect size for me, i had an SE before this and after a year i changed it because the screen was too small for browsing and even for facebook so i reccomend to take the iphone 7 or 8 they add a good feature the touch button love how it feels i hated the physical button of SE and about the size is perfect for texting and using it one hand

Not trying to single you out here, more or less try to provide a different perspective. For what’s worth, I live in a fairly large city, and I like to think that I am ’tech oriented’ where I pay attention what someone’s phone they're using, just because I’m interested. That said, I can’t tell you the last time I saw an SE in someone’s hands. It’s either an android phone or an iPhone 6s or later.
Now, that’s _not_ to say that the SE is ‘not a good phone’ or ‘no one wants it’, it’s to say that I generally think Apple discontinued the SE because small displays are not in favor of what they once were and I don’t think the SE was making Apple enough money in general.
That all said, I don’t think the ‘small smart phone market’ is completely dead for Apple, I think in 2020 we will see a 5.4 inch iPhone as rumored or something in that realm.
It's a great phone for those who don't completely rely on a phone to live. I might look at mine a few times a day or use it to look something up, but it's just a phone to me. I like that it's small enough that it's unobtrusive while I work. I'd buy another in the same form factor if Apple released one, but may switch to a cheap, small Android phone if they don't, once mine dies or gets too out-of-date for safe use.
Yes—I tried a Plus phone for about 3 months, hated it, and went back to the SE.
I’m the same, always a people watcher and watching what others pull out or use on public transit etc. I’ve literally seen z4 SE’s just this past week along. An older gentlemen on the bus, probably early 60’s. A female walking the street stopped at the light waiting to cross, she had Rose Gold. And two African American males waiting at the trolley station both with grey ones. I am in San Diego and I probably see at least one or two a week on average. They’re super cheap and reliable, there is a whole niche market for it IMO. Most are probably on prepaid, because Walmart sold them brand new for $139.00 - which is a steal for that phone.
I have had mine for two years. Great phone. Not interested in a phone that can’t easily fit in the front pocket of my pants and does not have to be removed when I sit down. One handed operation is easy, screen and speed is good, camera is decent, headphone jack is nice to have and much prefer not having Face ID. I am 60 and have no difficulty with size of font or keyboard. A real shame if no new phone of a similar size is offered.
Every time i pick up a friend’s SE Im a little envious. I bet I’d miss the screen size but the form factor is perfect. If Apple makes an updated version with close to X levels specs and face

Well apparently Apple will be INCREASING the iPhone price next year, despite the majority refusing to pay a thousand dollars or pounds etc for one! It’s because Apple will move production from China and as we know Apple refuses to reduce its huge mark up and profit margins..
So if they don’t make an SE2 and launch it soon then how long till the iPhone becomes an unviable product to manufacture due to sales being so low? Imagine the Max, sorry, bigger sized ‘Pro’ model ‘starting’ from 1250 or even 1350!! Makes me think if they do launch an SE2 what’s it going to cost? 700 dollars?
I’ll never spend a grand or more on an iPhone, I’d just wait till the price drops and get an older model..

I use an 8 plus daily but have a SE as a back up phone and as an iPod touch. Great phone. Put a new battery in it and it has come back to life.
