It's going to be really hard choosing between the rumoured iPhone 8/SE2 refresh and that 5.4" premium iPhone.

If the iPhone 8SE2 sports the A13, camera from the 11, and the other various technology improvements coupled with that cheap $399 price tag, it just might be the one for me.

Have to agree about the form factor of the iPhone SE - it is a beauty!

Even the other day, my other half was clearing out some old iPhone to sell on eBay - we found an old damaged iPhone 3G, iPhone 4 and iPhone 5 (also damaged and battery no longer lasted a day). She asked me whether to sell all of them but I responded with something like, to just sell the 3G and 5 and keep the 4 as the form factor was just so nice and Apple's first major form change...!!

You never now, as 5,4” will be physically smaller, it might sell for around 800-900£.
I do know, this is Apple and they have increased the price of the smaller iPhone 11 Pro... they are hardly going to reduce it next year by £250!
You’d have to also suggest then they the iPhone 12 will drop significantly in price which again will not happen.

Let’s see. My reasoning is that the current iPhone 11 sells for £729 in the UK, iPhone 11 Pro (5,8”) sells for £1049. So a smaller iPhone 12 (5,4”) could fall somewhere in between, so at around £900? Pricing it higher will make no sense, IMO.

No, the iPhone 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 were all Apples flagship devices with high prices, now with Apple having gone into the stratosphere with its iPhone prices these days compared to those older models, and it’s ‘mid range’ iPhone costing more then they did! Apple is not going to lower the price just because it’s a smaller device, that’s not how they work and never has been, they’d rather make more profit by using less material.
I’m afraid it’s just wishful thinking to think otherwise.

$399 lol what are u smoking
Cashews didn’t pull that number out of nowhere. Kuo predicted the iphone “SE2” update with A13 at $399:
No mention of the camera though. Since the 8 is a smaller body and dual cameras would require a big design change, I would think a single camera is more likely. However, when the SE came out, it got the flagship camera, so it wouldn’t be completely preposterous to think the 8SE might get the second tier dual camera system.

Some of that good good logic. According to Ming Chi Kuo, that 8SE2 refresh might have a price tag of $399 and this guy is more right than wrong. If it does, it'll be a killer value and will make a person think twice before spending $1000+ on the other flagships (which is why I doubt it'll be that price). But if it doesn't, I'm sure it'll be close to it.

Also the 8SE2 refresh most likely will sport the A13 CPU and same camera that the 11 has but will only use one camera so that Apple wouldn't need to modify the chassis much. Just like how when the SE released it had the same CPU and camera as the 6s. Even when Apple refreshed the iPad mini 5 and released the new iPad Air, they were rocking the same A12 CPUs as the iPhone XS flagships at the time.

Pricing is one the most difficult things to be accurate on since it can be modified inside the most secret portions of Apple at literally any moment, all the way up until an announcement. It's highly unlikely Kuo has any source with information even remotely close to that high up and inside at Apple.

Pricing is not a supply chain thing, which is where nearly all leaks of Apple product information originate.

All reports indicate that the iPhone 8SE2 will be the cheapest iPhone in the lineup once it releases.

Just like the SE when it released. This is good enough for me and I'm sure for many folks.

Whether Kuo is right or wrong, I have no idea. It just seemed like that poster thought the other poster randomly came up with that figure.

Right, but you said in an above post ‘that will be $399’. That’s not happening. The iPhone SE was a ‘one off’ phone that came in at that price, this new purported 5.4 inch iPhone will probably start somewhere in the $500-$600 range.

It may or may not have a price tag of $399, but at the end of the day it will be the cheapest iPhone of the lineup. I also didn't say "IT WILL DEFINITELY HAVE A PRICE OF $399" so you folks needs to relax and don't take my words literally. Ming Chi Kuo predicted that price and I'm just basing my opinion on his professional one.

Lol.

Absolute fail. I wasn't even talking about the alleged 5.4" premium iPhone, but that refreshed 4.7" iPhone 8.

Some of you guys are terrible at reading.

Says the person who posted drive by comments like “derp lol what are u smoking derp.”

It’s okay, you’ve proven that you can’t argue facts or logic so you resort to twisting the discussion by your useless comments.
