It's 2014, Apple has been trying to debug iOS 7, while sitting out most of 2013, Google's been operating at warp speed.

Google has been operating at a snails pace. They haven't put out a noteworthy update in years, literally.

Part of that has to do with the product improving to an acceptable level, but hopefully it changes soon. I miss the days of Google putting out substantial upgrades regularly.

Well I'd consider jelly bean a substantial update (2012).

Yes ios 7 was quite a substantial update it was only to try and get it up to speed with what Android devices had been doing for years.

Yeah, I had a HTC One for a while and I tried a bunch of different ROMs and launchers and my favorite was the Google Edition stuff.
I figure if that's what I'm happiest with, I may as well just save $200 and buy the N5.

Don't forget that the N5 camera pales next to HTC One or S4.

Uh, the HTC One camera is one of the worst smartphone cameras I've ever used. It may as well just not have one as far as I'm concerned.

Wait until you use the N5 camera then, I personaly found it horrible.

Try out the Moto X. Its a great phone, has great battery life, an extremeky loud speaker, awesome reception, and is blazing fast on kit kat. The camera is pretty good on the latest software as well.

I used a Samsung S4 for about 7 months up until 2 weeks ago.

Before that I had every version of iPhone since the first. I did take a couple months a few years ago to try out the Blackberry Storm for 3 months.

All I can say is IOS is the cream of the crop when it comes to user reliability and experience. Of course this is because Apple keeps things petty straightforward and simple. Droid definitely invites the user to take more control of each individual device. But at the end of the day when all is said and done, iOS lets you do most things more efficiently than Droid. Example;sending pics through MMS, photo sharing online, downloading purchased music to your device, wireless syncing with iMac...just to name a few.

I thought this until I got my hands on a Nexus device. That is simply no longer the case. Android as Google intended it is every bit as responsive, reliable, and impressive as iOS with even more functionality.

I have heard this device is a near Nexus experience at a strong price point.

Interesting. I have an open line on my account that I may have to use to try Nexus. But then I would have to clear a line for the :Dbigger:D iPhone 666

Welcome to 2013, the first year when Android really started getting good.

Google Nexus 5
Samsung Galaxy S4
Samsung Galaxy Note 3
HTC One
Motorola Moto X
Motorola Moto G
Sony Xperia Z1
LG G2
Lenovo K900
Huawei Ascend P6
Meizu MX3
Oppo Find 5 or N1
Xiaomi Mi3

The list goes on... So many not as known in the US as most consumers might know 7-8 diff brands when there are about 25+ here in Asia.

Android has been really good since Jelly Bean 4.1 in 2012.

IMO the only 2 phones worth its salt right now is the iPhone 5s and Note 3. Everything else is plagued with one issue or another. The Note 3 is the best all around device you can get on Android sans any issues. While the iPhone 5s is buttery smooth only to get better with iOS 7.1. I don't think any other Android is worth it at this point and if I didn't have a Note 3, I would strictly be using an iPhone only. Of course this is just my opinion.

Except it's Touchwiz, not Android.

Run Nova, only time you have to hurt your eyes is when you go into settings. People make too big of a deal with touchwiz. Unless you just love living in the settings menu, I really don't see an issue.
Even with Nova, a Note 3 takes over a GB of RAM just sitting idle.

This notion that the bloated showcase of wasted resources that is the Note 3 is the only viable Android phone out there is just silly. There are many other devices out there that are faster, smoother, with half the specs. Like the Nexus 5 or Moto X, with the latter getting a similar battery life to the Note 3. If anything, the Note 3 is the wrong direction for Android to go (wasted hardware potential and a bloated experience packaged in the worst cheapest plastic known to the industry) and the Moto X is a step in the right direction (customized 3-processor package, a huge amount of optimization, and unique features like the active display and touchless controls that help differentiate it from the crowd).

The Note 3's smoothness ceases to be impressive when you realize A) it's still not as smooth as WP7/iPhone despite B) it took near laptop specs to get it running in a straight line.

I don't believe Nova launcher fixes the Samsung ToucWiz notification shade.

I still prefer Vanilla Android. Then I don't have to worry about running a different Launcher. That being said, Nova is pretty nice.

As long as it runs smooth with excellent battery life, as a customer, I really could care less whether the manufacturer used a gazillion GB of RAM with a billion core processor.

Point being that there is no one right way of doing anything. One company may have optimized software, another may compensate for their unoptimised software with hardware.

It's blue on black. What's so eye gouging about the Notification shade?

Never owned a moto x or Nexus 5 so I can't comment on those but my Note 3 is just as smooth if not more so than my iPhone 5s. So unless those 2 are faster and smoother than the iPhone then it's not better than the Note 3. I don't know where you get this notion that it isn't.

Rofl a Note 3 isn't smoother than even an iPhone 5, get real. Android is still a stutterfest and will continue to be so until they get rid of that tragic runtime. My Note 3 still hiccups on simple tasks like JavaScript. How primitive.

Now you're just trolling. My experience is first hand, don't know what yours is.

I have 2 Note 3s and 2 iPhones at home. (1 of the Note 3s with a cracked LCD because it couldn't survive a 3 foot fall onto the carpet, but that's the price to pay for using plastic that's about as sturdy as styrofoam). :)

But nah I'm biased and trolling.

Gave me a good laugh though telling me the Note 3 is smoother lmao not even in the same league, which is sad given the immense hardware advantage.

Not gonna argue with you, it's fruitless. I have both devices and they're just about the same. I know this for a fact.

Kind of like how the iPad air just breaks apart when dropped on a soft mound of dirt, from just a few feet? Yep! That's the price you pay for using parts about as sturdy as Styrofoam. Nice video in the link below showing how fragile Apple products can be.

Not sure why you bother to post in here. All I ever see from you is negative posts regarding Android and how much you love Apple. Seems like trolling to me.
