Out of sight is out of mind.
Out of sight is out of mind.
I wanna see someone else try this mod.
i wanna see it on a black iPhone
The film is clear... how would it be out of sight?
I uhh... forgot. Oh, of course, you're a Demi! No wonder you thought of that! What are we talking about?![]()
I personally prefer up and down, but I went swirly when I got to the top.Wow that pretty creeperish. On the same subject OP did you use up and down movements or swirling ones? (sorry had too.)
3. up and down because it's much easier to stroke that way. but i think you're gonna get the same results either way.
It always felt slippery and sticky (from the grease) all at the same time. holding a naked ... felt weird, like you needed to
Replacing your iPhone because of a crack in the plastic is OCD.
No, OCD is trying to take the hairline scratches out of your plastic phone with sandpaper. LOL
I'd rather get a NEW phone for FREE whenever I get a crack than have to deal with grinding away at my old one.![]()
I personally prefer up and down, but I went swirly when I got to the top.
You're still talking about a phone right?
Oh, you're a Demi, you can understand.
Don't you try actin' innocent in fronta me!
I have opened up a black 3G before. Trust me, it's black inside. My white 3GS is white inside.
I know the inside of the case is also black. If my suspicions are correct, it is probably dip coated. Nonetheless, I have a scratch on the back of my 32gb 3Gs and it is white underneath.
When you said that I immediately thought of something else. And then quickly realized we where talking about a phone.
How easy is that wrapsol to apply?
Also, when you say it's sticky after... is that just at first or does it stay "sticky". How sticky is it? Please don't turn this post into a bad joke... you KNOW what I mean.
I didn't say the phone got sticky after the mod, I said that stock glossy iPhones are both slippery and sticky at the same time. The gloss makes the phones super smooth and also super slippery on top of also making the phone into a grease magnet. So over time, the phone develops a weird inconsistency... slippery in some places, sticky in others when there's too much grease build up. Does anybody know what I mean by this?
Sanding the phone down to matte gets rid of the gloss and the phone is less likely to build up grease, resulting in a smoother (but less slippery) and also less sticky feeling.
UPDATE: So I took my matte phone to the Apple Store for the screwed up camera lens cover. The Genius felt the difference instantly and he could tell that it's been sanded. He said that he's never seen any mod like that before and he admitted, that he liked the feeling of the matte better. Then he started showing the phone to other Geniuses and the uniform reaction was always something like, "wow! how'd you do that?"
He told me the only way to "fix" the lens was to buy the replacement, so I agreed. I figured I already reimbursed much of the cost by trading my old 3G for the 3GS + a little cash, so I could deal with paying a little more cash to get a mint, fully functioning 3GS.
So my matte 3GS is probably being boxed and carted into a secret underground Apple research facility ala Raiders of the Lost Ark. Expect matted 4G iPhones next year![]()
That's exactly what I discovered. Add to that, the feeling of always 'babying' the exposed back of the phone too, and it quickly became a nightmare, whenever I used the device in it's naked state.I didn't say the phone got sticky after the mod, I said that stock glossy iPhones are both slippery and sticky at the same time. I'm sure Steve has his top men on it.So my matte 3GS is probably being boxed and carted into a secret underground Apple research facility ala Raiders of the Lost Ark. Expect matted 4G iPhones next year![]()
