Wings and beer, just keep your 8 plus, don’t sell it, that’s what I’m doing. It’s a special phone, and now appears to be quite hard to get hold of brand new.
Yes would have gotten 8+ instead if everyone wasn't sold out. Heck will it even ever return to the Apple Refurb store? If it isn't being sold anymore then just remove it from the store.

I have an 11 Pro which I love, though I've been tempted by the smaller and lighter SE. I don't have a preference for Face ID over Touch ID, but Face ID on the pro has worked flawlessly for me. The strongest argument for keeping the Pro was its beautiful, easy to read screen. The other night when our power was off for hours, I was also grateful to have a phone with amazing battery life.

It’s like I said before. The people who stand by Touch ID are the ones who don’t work with their hands. Get water logged, your print changes, get a cut or scratch, your print changes. Then you have to re do your print, and then again when you heal. If you love it all the power to you. My wife likes Touch ID only because she doesn’t know what Face ID is about. I get both sides of the argument, but because I do work with my hands, Touch ID is a no go. Now if I was a student using my phone in class when I shouldn’t be, Touch ID would be great. But I’m not a student.

I think there's more to it than that. I don't work with my hands, unless you consider sitting in a cushy office chair, typing, and digital paper pushing to be "working with your hands." No, my hands are those of someone who hasn't experienced hard labor in a long time, if ever.

But TouchID doesn't work for me. It seems to be connected to moisture. When my hands are sweaty, and they get sweaty/oily easily, TouchID doesn't work. After I wash my hands with soap and water and dry them well, TouchID works. But an hour later, nope. On humid summer days, I don't think TouchID ever works for me. On cool fall days, TouchID might work often. On cold cold winter days, when my hands get warm in pockets or gloves and are thus slightly sweaty, TouchID fails.

One thing is for sure. You can’t go wrong with either one. An iPhone is an iPhone. I have an iPhone 8, XR, X, XS Max and iPhone SE 2nd gen. I prefer to use the new SE. doesn’t make the XR, X and XS Max bad devices. It’s just my preference.

I had an iPhone XS, traded it for my 2020 SE. The SE is noticeably smaller and lighter in my hand and in my pocket. I love the feel of it. (I’m 6’5” and don’t have small hands.) Touch ID is way more immediate, it works sideways, on a table, while I’m sipping a beer or wearing a mask. The battery life is better, it’s more powerful and takes way better photos. I love having a 16:9 display without cropped corners or a notch, my games look better again. Man, I don’t know if I’ll want to go Face ID again.

If the battery count on the 8plus is 84%..would that give me a fair bit of use out of it..?

HKDesign, 84% is quite low, I would advise getting a new battery when the shops open up again. Will cost you £50 max (cheaper in the US probably). My 8 plus is at 89% which lasts day a half based on my usage, but when was brand new would get a lot more.

I upgraded from an iPhone 7 to the 2020 SE and I agree it's a great iPhone. I purchased the SE to hold me over until the iPhone 12 came out but am considering keeping it for a while. My only "complaint" is that Night Mode wasn't included as a feature. Still a great phone though!

I went from the 11 Pro Max to the SE ... and although I loved the SE ... the battery life is so horrendously bad compared to the Max that I just couldn't do it. I went from charging my phone every two days to three times a day. It's a really great little phone, but battery life is too important to me. It's a stupidly fast little phone.

I cannot even imagine going backwards in Battery Life after experiencing the endless Battery Life of the 11 Pro Max.

Apple should put a large battery in the next SE.

Yeah it was rough. I'm glad I held onto my Pro Max.

Had an iPhone X for a week, annoyed that I couldn't lay it on my desk and unlock it easily. Pros and cons to both. I'd rather have my device unlocked before it's at my face than having to wait on Face ID and then swipe up.
You could always just pick it up.....surely that’s not such a hardship.

I certainly prefer my 11 Pro over the SE. But it’s been nice to bring the SE on the golf course and beach while leaving the 11 Pro behind at home.

I'm glad people enjoy the new SE, I was seriously considering one but I chose a discounted new 11 in the end.

What kinda battery life are you 2020 SE owners getting?

I'm getting all day and then some easily but i'm not a heavy user, just the odd bit of Social Media & music when out & about my iPad is for all my media consumption.

They had some about a week ago, but they appeared to have sold in a day or less.

I own an iPhone 11 Pro and I seriously considered switching to the SE because of size and weight but eventually decided not to because of the upcoming 5.4" model. Let's see what Apple has to offer in sept/oct/nov.

Remember when we only had one iPhone to look forward to each year? This thread highlights perfectly that iPhone users have adapted to the many options available. Not everybody lusts after the very top iPhone that Apple releases and in many cases people try the cheapest model and prefer what it offers over anything else. I think that’s brilliant as the land has evened out and consumers are comfortable with what they expect from a smartphone.

Damn those bezels are huge in 2020. No innovation.!
Personally I don’t think it has anything to do with ‘innovation’ whatsoever. There is much more to innovation than simply aesthetics.
Interesting. Everytime i use a device with TouchID it annoys me a lot.
Especially when using a Password Manager or Finance App and i have to actively put my finger on the sensor instead of just facetime doing its thing automatically.
It’s not as laborious as you might think. Actively putting your finger on the sensor is no more inconvenient than once the app is open, using your finger to navigate around it, unless you are the type of user who hates that too. You still have to use your finger on a touchscreen device regardless of how an authorisation is carried out.

This ^^^^^^^

Rather than this ^^ they stick around a design that’s nearly a decade old. Wouldn’t that be lack of innovation or they are tooo lazy.

Well if they were to make a "new" design there is no way they can keep it at the $400 price point. Obviously, it's working as the SE is probably one of the hottest selling iPhones right now... if you want "innovation" wait until the September launches. There are multiple iPhones out right now that fits every users need. Sometimes "innovation" isn't what the average consumer is looking for.

You can swipe up right away, while doing that facetime will already have cought up.
I never have to wait...

But the desk unlock seems to be something that bothers some people. I never use it like that though, but can see how it might be annoying if you do.

Hi everyone. I am frustrated with my 7plus camera that constantly freezes, and the spellcheck is always changing my perfectly spelled words to other words that make no sense.
The only thing that would make me buy a new iPhone would be if that got better. With each update I keep hoping that spellcheck would be addressed.
The 11 pro camera though is seriously amazing, almost enough for me to consider the price but I’m put off by other things. Someone mentioned a Samsung. How do those compare?

Take a look at S10 serie, it’s cheaper than the S20 and it takes good pictures and videos also night mode i very good.

If this is to much OT, then make a new tread, so can we continue there.
