Any place but here or there....
Awwwwww thanks ! And i didn't know emailing cook would actually make things happen. I'll definitely do that next time I have any issues. For phone replacements over the phone you can either have them send you a device and you have the hold placed on a cc(they told me if I used a debit card the purchase would go through and refunds are a hassle) or I send my device to them first and once they get it then they'll send me a device back(so without a phone for a week). I try to get replacements directly from Apple since I don't trust my Apple store.

I completely understand that you do not trust your Apple store, clearly they need to be talked to. I did not trust the Apple store I frequented after the activation issues; but the store leader bent over backwards to make things right after he received my email from Cook's team.

Perhaps if you email Cook and explain your situations (financial and the hassle of being without a phone for a week), you never know how that might be resolved. It helped if you have documented proof of the issues (my letter last December was a bit erm anal, but it did the trick.) Someone is incorrect about refunds on the debit cards being a hassle. It's all up to your bank how fast the refund is processed. You may want to talk to your bank about using the debit card and how quickly they refund.

At any rate, I wish you all the best and no issues going forward no matter what phone you use.

I played with the iPhone 8 Plus. It's a trash phone upgrade tbh considering the processor is barely faster, I don't need wireless charging, the software isn't different than what the 7+ offers, and quick charging is non-existent on it unless you pay up for the peripherals. The camera is overstated and don't care for a true tone display. Good thing I didn't pre-order one.

If I had 7+ no way I’d go to the 8+. From my 6s I considered it but I’m tired of the playing the waiting games with the phones. Tried of the hype of no reason. They are late to the party on things. Tired of the money games they play w/apps and not this charging components to do fast charging, and I’m tired of the memory games...
All that coupled with a few glitches in iOS 11 and that is prompting me to switch.

My s7 edge slowed but it took a year. I factory reset it and it was good again.

And if this happens again that’ll be the only thing to make me return to Apple and stick with them.

Wow, I went to Best Buy and Apple Store yesterday. I compared the Note 8 to the iPhone 8 Plus at BB. I was really impressed by the look and feel and handling of the iPhone 8 Plus. I think it's hardly a trash upgrade. It's going to be worth it for some people and too incremental to bother with for others especially those not interested in wireless charging.

The Note 8 crashed a lot but they do hobble it with that demo software they Samsung puts on it. They compared favorably but I just don't want to do Edge displays anymore. I saw photos curving over the edge and it's just not for me. I was surprised that the size difference between the Note 8+ and S8+ is barely noticeable. It at least had a nice even toned display that wasn't haunted by the wretched pink stain that still plagues my S8+ without the software fix in adaptive mode.

Is the curved screen really bothersome when viewing stuff??

hmm... can’t you even do scrolling screen shots? I used that feature and it was amazing!
It even displays on iPhones and lets people see the whole screen!
I like Apple. I really do but I don’t use there features and the $$ they’re asking for certain things are a no go for me.
Most full apps cost $, Music cost $, new iPhones with small upgrades = $, the X seems like the phone to go with and it’ll be solid but at the $$$$ they’re asking for it and it’ll still carry iOS 11 I’m not sure I’d want it. To top that all off, I’d have to pay extra not only just for wireless charging (that’s a given) but for fast charging!

Yes, to me it is. People talk about the notch being distracting on the iPhone X but on curved edges, that’s where light goes to play. There is a bit of refraction going on and a hint of color and grain. I find it distracting. The content on some apps runs over the edge, too.

On the S8+ there is also enough overall curve to the display that I run into a lot of reflection when trying to view video on it. No matter how I try to angle the display, there’s a bit better of reflection unless I’m in a very dark room.

I’m too worried about the curved screen but just a bit.
Kind of wished they had the option to go curved or not curved like they had with previous phones. Now they are all curved.

Everyone is different and what bothers me may not even be noticeable to you at all. I have an “atypical migraine” condition that sort of mimics epilepsy sometimes, so color gradients on a display tend to mess with me a bit more than they do some people. Oddly enough I can enjoy VR games and sometimes they even make my migraines abate, but make everyone else in the family get headaches, nausea and dizziness. But they can watch a lot of shows on a big screen hi def tv and for some reason I can’t. So just try a demo unit and judge for yourself. You may very well love the edges. Some people do. Actually, probably most people do, which is why Samsung went with them almost exclusively, except for the S8 Active on AT&T.

As an update to a thread I statted several days ago...

After 10 years of iPhone ownership, I sold my iPhone 7 Plus and went to the Note 8. After a week of use, I can confidently conclude that for me, the Note 8 is an amazing phone that absolutely blows the iPhone out of the water in functionlaity and customization. I even traded my Series 2 watch in for a Gear 3 and find it to be a much watch better much for my purposes. Apple seems to be mostly about curves and design aesthetics. The rigidity of iOS is counter-productive.

Maybe the Note 8 is the first truly amazing phone form Samsung, I don’t know. But I have definitely found an absolute winner in the Note 8 and have no regrets leaving the iPhone behind. At work, few people were happy with Apple’s September iPhone event. They knew me as a major Apple fan and thought I would be the last to leave Apple. There may very well be more than average defectors this upgrade cycle. Our family has three more iPhones to converts, which we will do in October.

I disagree that you were duped.
The iPhone was king.
Jailbreak came along and opened even more potential of the phone.
Android seemed to understand that and afforded their users with a more techie device.
You simply discovered there was a product that fits your needs and wants.

The pissing contest will continue.

However, many, unlike yourself, will never discover a device that is better suited for them not because of the marketing but because they are comfortable with the functions of the phone and what their little circles in life demand they have.

Oh you have a samsung?????.......
You don't have an iPhone?????.......

Enjoy your new phone.

This! At some point we all have to realize it’s a phone.
I just want something reliable, fun, and does everyday task well.
Both phones do that, but Samsung has the feature set I’m looking for.
Apple and Samsung both take pix with amazing cameras. Both have decent screens for phone devices, batteries, processors.... it boils down to look and feel or the hardware and software for your typical needs.
Everything else for the average consumer is equal.
