It's so odd to look at clamshell iBooks...it wasn't *that* long ago that I was drooling over one, but I'm so used to the current iBook design that the clamshell just looks so wonky to me in retrospect. :p

*thinks about old Powerbook G3 laptop*

Yeah, we used to have a lab of em in my elementary school, back then everybody thought they were soooo cool, but now that I look at it, I much prefer white.

Finally got the replacement, and it actually is in better condition than the original:

Uh, how did you have a G5 running windoze?? (Espeshilly at an apple store)^- That picture of mine is just RDC -> manageing my server.

Here's mine, not the best shot but its all I had on my site... iBook 12" G3 800mhz, 640mb ram, Airport. I use it to run Finalscratch 2 so I can play mp3's through special vinyl on regular turntables. It works great!

I believe he is referring to the craptacular Virtual PC software.

How did you get windows running on your ibook without it exploding into a million pieces. I guess there was in update to VPC or somthing, go figure.

Gobsmacked!

What are the chances! My only Mac, still working after 3 years! Here we go then...

600 MHz iBook G3
640Mb RAM
20 Gig hard disk (730Mb free!)
Mac OS 10.3.9
Self-installed Airport card

Apart from a dodgy "W" and Command key, a battery/power cable replacement absolutely nothing wrong with, except inablility to do high power stuff (eg play 2 yo games!). Everything fine, would be nice to get new computer (MWSF shopping time maybe) but finances tight, so probably not. :( ah well...I like this thread!:p

Special Vinyl? What? That sounds so cool, if I think I get what your saying. How please? :)

Update

Well I don't really want this thread to die, because I still loves me some G3™, and my 900MHz iBook g3 (hosed video, but I only paid $50 for it) got here today, and it's going to the Apple Store tomorrow, so I figured I'd revive this thread with a pic:

Specs: 900MHz G3, Combo Drive, 40gb HD, 128mb RAM, 12".
(RAM upgrade coming post Apple Store visit, pending the news.)

The setups of the iBook clamshells are making me want one. I need a second computer as it is hell when i have got my sisters young kids round all trying to use one computer so i am looking for a second computer that will be cheap. What i am considering now is a second hand Mac mini or a green ibook clamshell.

Opened up, the iBook G3 looks gorgeous. The G4, too. Only that one looks pretty okay when it's closed, too.
