G3 iBooks are pretty much limited these days to email, chatting, browsing, iTunes, and Word.
And that's all I need in a laptop, and many other people, so for $200-350, you can have a very good machine.

Whats the specs on your iBook Cassie?
Mines a 700 MHz with a 30GB HD, Combo Drive, and 640MB of RAM running Tiger 10.4.9.
And I havent used it much in the past year.
My mom comadeered it for the living room. Shes not very good with computers, but enjoys the lil guy for browsing her emails, doing her NFO surveys, and playing those simple puzzle games on the internet. Which I suppose is good, as its battery is shot, and the reed switch is breaking, so if you wiggle it slightly, it goes to sleep, which makes it near useless for me as a laptop.
Congrats on earning your laptop.
Mine was free. Met a fella that said he dropped it, and it wouldnt turn on anymore. Turns out he broke the screen hinge and AC adapter. He gave it to me as a token for salvaging his data, then I bought a used LCD on here, a used AC adapter, and it still wouldnt power on. Took it to the Genius Bar, and the guy there said it was probably the logic board and video chip failed, so they took it, sent it out, fixed him up, and sent him back with a 30GB HDD instead of the 20GB. I originally had a 256 chip from California, but my friend recently gave me 2 512MB SO-DIMMs for these things, so out came the 256 and in went the 512. Now I just gotta find a use for that other 512, or someone to buy it.
I'm hoping to get my old Pentium III HP laptop back up and running, so she can use that, I can get my iBook back, and fix the damn thing.
I'll have to get pictures of the poor ol' guy one of these days. Hes taken such a beating, and hes still chugging along happily, and much faster now that I wiped the drive clean and cleeared out the original OSX 10.2 to 10.4 upgrade and all the junk that was uneeded. My mom was going "Wow, this thing is much faster now!"
I have a MacBook Pro... and yet when I see a 12" iBook on eBay I still have to restrain myself. I have no idea why I want one. They just look so awesome!
should last me 4 years until i get a MB.
I love the way my ibook looks. And yes they are awesome Mine has to last me untill I get a G4 PM or iMac...

I had an iBook G5? (im not too sure apple has confused me now haha) But I gave it to my brother when i bought my powerbook and since then I got a MBP and an new black MB is on it's way. I loved my iBook she was a good machine, just not powerful enough to take what I had to do haha...Since then it has been havoced upon by a 15 year old poor iBook.
i got my ibook for $125 from a buddy at my hobby shop it was password protected and he didn't remember what it was ...so i bought tiger and set it up..the only thing that was really wrong was the space bar wouldn't work on the right side..i hit ebay bought a replacement keyboard for $11 and i also got a combo drive from ebay for $11..now i just need to get a bigger hard drive and bring it to my mac place and have them install all of it...the specs are 800mhz,256mb ram,30gb hd,and a cd-rom...question though...could i put a dvd burner in this machine?
Pics have been found!
I'm waiting for my 800mhz iBook G3 to get here (expected Monday) and I was wondering how many MR'rs still have an iBook G3 in their setup, if you do could you post a pic of it and your machine's specs.
I think the iBook G3 is a great little machine, and very well designed. I'll be sure to post mine once it arrives .
Ah yes, the blueberries. I've really gotta get a pic of mine. BTW, looks just like that, but it has a Core 2 Duo sticker! Some of my friends actually believe it is!
