Are emails being returned to sender? At least then they won't expect an answer or know to contact me by phone. If they're going into a black hole, then that gives me a bigger problem.

Nevermind.

I think Black Hole. I have been sending test mails to myself from another account and they appear to go through (but we know they don't). Hopefully, when its all fixed, all your emails will come to you.

Awesome job, Apple.

Keep paying more attention to iGadgetry and skeumorphism than on the core (or what used to be the core), and this is the type of fail you get.....

Next update in three hours!!!! What a POS response! More than 24 hrs without service. Maybe they are all too busy at the launch of the iPhone 5

WHAT THE ****ING **** APPLE?

Over 24 hours of this ********, seriously?

SERIOUSLY?

NO email for 24+ hours?

Whose dick have you been sucking that you can't be bothered to fix your goddamned ****ing EMAIL SERVICE?

It's EMAIL, ok? I maybe understand an hour of downtime. ****ING DAYS OF THIS IS ********.

Most valuable company on the stock market and somehow you can't seem to be put together an email service worth wiping my ass with. GREAT ****ING JOB TIM COOK.

getting serious

This outage is getting serious. Day 2.

Why is nobody reporting on this (including macrumors)?
And why isn't Apple coming forward with statements?

The usual approach Apple takes when a problem arises is to deny there is any problem. Than they try to shift the blame on to the user or to someone else. When they finally get around to fixing it, they do so in as quiet a manner as possible.

iCloud back up, but macrumors problem

Around lunchtime, my iCloud email is working again. But there was no email explanation or apology from Apple. No acknowledgement it was even down. Not good for paying customers.

Moreover, it's not completely stable. Sometimes I get:

This account (_@me.com) appears to be offline due to a network problem.

Then I got the macrumors problem others have reported:

Someone has tried to log into your account on MacRumors Forums with an incorrect password at least 5 times. This person has been prevented from attempting to login to your account for the next 15 minutes.

The person trying to log into your account had the following IP address: 10.40.69.198

I started a new position at work yesterday and I'm counting my lucky stars that the work email I set up was with Gmail and not iCloud or I would be royally ********* right now.

Just Come Back (sort of)

Midlands UK.

My iPhone and Mac have just started receiving mails again.
But only the ones I missed yesterday.
Because my main work account from my web host duplicates all my emails to my iCloud account I can see that none of the emails I received today have been logged or forwarded by iCloud.
Not very impressive but not a disaster for me due to the backup I have due to the duplication.
But feel sorry for anyone who uses this as their sole email, you're just not going to know what you have missed.

Still offline for me (Canada) even though the status page says that iCloud mail is working again. I must not be part of the affected 1.1%.

Thanks for the info. This is very disturbing news. Going dark is one thing, dropping emails is a whole another level.

It's not my work email but I rely on my iCloud email for notifications about online bill payments and other personal stuff. Now I have to check every place I can remember to see if there are e-bills I've missed.

It's been back up for me since a few hours ago. Emails keep coming in at a totally random order but I don't seem to have lost anything (some stuff is fwd from my gmail account). It's just total chaos and randomness in the order they arrive. I've had a couple of angry "why don't you reply to me? this is urgent", but hopefully nothing I can't handle.

I've also managed to be loud enough talking to Apple Care to get the personal contact details of a manager who was actually very helpful.

I'm calmer now, but this is still unacceptable! They're predicting things should be totally up and running tomorrow at 13:00 GMT.

Started receiving some of my mail last night again.
But the most of it came after midnight I think.

Still have emails from the outage that have no body content. Those emails can not be moved to trash either. What a joke that this problem is still not resolved.

Apology email received

I got an email today about the outage:

"We apologize for the mail service interruption you recently experienced. Your mail service has been restored and all emails sent during this service interruption have been delivered to your account."

I guess it's truly all over now, and that others on this thread have also received such emails.
