Last night I made sure that Port 443 was open on my Airport Express. After doing that I was able to see my iMac tabs on my iPhone and iPad, and both were able to see each other (and had been for several days), but the Mac still couldn't see anything.

Then this morning the Mac could see the iPhone and iPad, and the phone and tablet were seeing both other devices.

Then I sat down at my Mac and tried to delete an iPhone tab from the Mac.and the tab list vanished from the iMac. When I checked my iPhone the tab list for both the Mac and iPad had disappeared. Not sure about the iPad, but it is one floor away right now.

This is truly frustrating.

The reading lists are still not synced, can't say for bookmarks as they haven't beem updated recently and so appear to be in sync on all devices from earlier.

Handoff is also inconsistent.

This issue reminds me of the problem where apps wouldn’t update for several weeks last year or the one where the Up Next list in Apple TV kept resurrecting watched movies and TV episodes (that one took months to fix).

Apple never acknowledged either issue.

They still haven’t fixed the disappearing notification issue that was introduced with the iPhone X’s FaceID unlocking.

This is just another in a long line of problems that Apple never acknowledges.

Currently for me this intermittently works and doesn’t work.

This is really comical...so this morning, working on Safari/Macbook, I decided to check what it says about tabs on my iPhone, other Mac, and iPad. Tabs come up - I am thinking, they look somewhat correct on my iPhone but I think they are old, I think I closed those tabs. So while the lab list for all devices is up on my Mac, I bring up Safari on my iPhone to check what tabs are up - and sure enough, there are no tabs currently open - the list was old. At the same time, as I am watching both my iPhone and Mac, poof! ALL the tabs for ALL devices disappear on my Mac!

Maybe Apple’s own people really don’t use Safari. On top of this, the “choose file” button for uploads has been broken since 14.0.1 now. How does this crap go unnoticed? That might finally push me to Firefox For good.

yes, my choose file button is also broken, but I discovered today that I can drag a photo (which is what I upload) to the button and it will load that way.

Wow, so that was a bug?!

I thought it was a website issue - how does this massive stuff get missed in QA

Presumably they let the QA folks go so they could instead spend that money on Apple TV+ original content. Gotta make cuts to the budget somewhere. 😂 As Timmy boy always says, “we want to make products that enrich people’s lives“. He’s doing a heck of a job with the basics. 🙄🙄

I'm guessing this may be related to our issues: I had to change to a replacement iPhone. As I was setting the new one up as well as the paired Apple watches, I got a message saying that devices had to be on the same Apple ID. I've been on the same Apple ID for, I'm guessing 15 years now and have never had a different one (still Mac.com, never changed to me.com or iCloud.com). Then, when I first set up one of the watches using the same Mac.com Apple ID, the mailbox on the watch showed my correct user name for my Apple ID but rather than Mac.com was Me.com and I literally NEVER used the Me.com domain. Then, I got similar message when I tried to make a wifi call on my MacBook even though, again, I've been using the same Apple ID and have all the wifi calling permissions set up correctly on the phone.

My tabs just started showing up from previous iOS installations on my iPhone 8, looks like they fixed something...

I recently did a Re-install of iOS 14.3 due to lagging and choppiness. The tabs still weren’t showing after the first 2 days post installation but I see them now.

Today I noticed something strange. Maybe this helps or not.

In the past I already noticed that after disabling Safari in the Apple-ID part of the system settings app I had to click the checkbox twice to get the visible checkmark. After doing so I noticed that on my iMac (2020 model with Big Sur) it took a long time until I got the tabs synced and they were on an old state.

Today I clicked the checkbox only once a few minutes after disabling it. No checkmark. I left it this way. Then I clicked the cloud symbol in Safari and voila, all tabs showed the correct state from my MacBook, iPad and iPhone. I can click them and the corresponding tab opens. Still no checkmark visible. Very strange.

I'm very curious to see how this will behave in the future. Any comments to this strange behaviour?

OK, that was a false alarm. Sorry. I just added another tab on my MacBook and no more tabs show on the iMac now. And it stays that way even when I check the checkmark again.

I've been seeing similar issues...... but....

Handoff works between all my devices. I have everything up to the latest code and hardware generation.

I recently switch to the new 12 Pro Max and that's when I noticed the tabs stopped syncing.

I am going to try to log out of iCloud from all my devices and then log them in - one a a time - to see if this perhaps "rests" the sync feature. It's been a suggested "Apple" fix for many issues regarding iCloud in the past.

For those who haven’t make sure you report it to Apple - https://www.apple.com/feedback/
Yes.... good point .....

If you are a developer (like me) - use this link

IF not a developer with Apple, use this link

Either way, enough people report the issue, it will get looked at.

Strange enough, the latest OS update just came out for Big Sur, and it still did not resolve the issue (yet that I can see)
