The 14 Plus is not even shipping yet
According to Ming Chi-Kuo:
“The iPhone 14 Plus is a replacement for the iPhone 13 mini. However, the pre-order results for this new product were significantly lower than expected, which means that Apple’s product segmentation strategy for standard models this year has failed.”

Yeah but even two weeks after pre-order kick off you still get delivery on launch date. Can‘t remeber the last time that happened for an iPhone. 😉
The pre orders for the 14 and 14 Plus are worse than the 13 mini / SE3 on release according to Ming Kuo. The vast majority of people want the Pro models as they are the true 14 series, rather than expensive repackaged iPhone 13’s. I reckon the 14’s will pick up in sales though as they will likely get offered as free upgrades on contracts etc and people prefer larger screens in general.

To the OP, if they offered a Pro Mini iPhone I would gladly pay £1000 for it with a smile on my face.

The mini is a flagship phone, with flagship materials and SoC. Even a $1000 Samsung uses aluminum and glass.

Sounds like you simply want the iphone Pro for less money, not a small phone. Apple doesn't play that game.

Well, the market proves it as well. Thus Apple discontinuing the mini lineup. Those small phone "faithful" who were pretending they wanted to buy a premium small phone were just talk. :D
What a strange conclusion you’ve come to.

Reality speaks for itself. ;) Apple stops making the mini iPhone.
The strange thing is people who keeps crying out for a mini iPhone and claimed they were willing to pay for it. Apple tried it twice with 12 mini and 13 mini, and hardly anybody walk the talk. The numbers showed it, and Apple moved on.

Sure, because he knows that for some reason. Simply go back to his track record and how many he's backtracking and repeating things back-n-forth just so something hits and then claimed he's accurate.

And this doesn't negate the point of people claiming they want a small iPhone and pretending they are willing to pay for it are simply talk. Fact remains the mini line is no more.

So what. It's an open forum and people are free to sound off about their hardware preferences. If you don't agree, feel free to move along and ignore a thread that's specifically about users' desire for current tech in a smaller form factor.

It really blows my mind that MR members don't understand the following: The iPhone Mini failed. Period. So how exactly do you expect an iPhone Mini Pro, which would be even more niche than an iPhone Mini, to have been a smart move by Apple? It would have sold even worse than the iPhone Mini.

The iPhone Mini Pro will never exist. Hopefully the iPhone Mini will settle into a lower price point and stay in the lineup.

Have you seen the sales reports for the 14 Plus?... Worst than the mini. The mini at least offers product differentiation, and has a very loyal fanbase. They should just update it like they do the iPad mini, with a new iPhone mini model every 3-4 years. Or, make it the new SE form factor.
I do not trust pre-orders that opened almost a month before the phone actually releases to tell how the 14+ is actually selling.

Same. I would 1000% get a an iPhone 14 miniPro with a 120Hz screen and these great cameras. Small battery wouldn’t be a huge issue for me. But sadly, too few people actually buy a Mini. It seems only a small but very vocal group of people ask for it… so i don’t expect a flagship phone in a mini format for years to come.
Well an even smaller crowd is buying the 14 and 14 Plus. Apple screwed the pooch this year. The 14 makes no sense when looking at the price vs paying $200 more for the Pro. This is by design but it may bite Apple this time.

tbh id take the current mini with at least a 3200 mAh bat

(would probably have to be a bit thicker tbh !)

If Apple made a pro model phone in a mini size, I'd totally buy it. I don't need a large phone, that's why I get all the features I want in a regular size of the 14 pro. If they made the 14 pro and all it's features in a mini size, it would be even better because of the convenience of the small size. Battery life would be sacrificed I bet, but you'd have all the bells and whistles.
Same, all I want is a mini with the cameras of the pro....mainly the zoom. I'll get over the battery life

battery life on the mini has already been suspect (I've had the 12 and 13 mini). add promotion, 3 cameras, AOD...all these other power-hungry features in the PRO models...and you'd barely get half a day per charge.
I'd be happy for Apple to make it half a mm thicker to accommodate a bigger battery if it meant we got a Mini Pro...

I feel it's the lack of the 'Pro' and high price for the mini that sealed its fate.

I expect that's not it. Otherwise, the 12 mini and 13 mini would have outsold the 12 and 13 (non-pro). That comparison really does correct for everything: exactly the same phones in a smaller size. If the mini lagged far behind the regular non-pro, I think it was DOA. :(

EDIT: I see that this was my 1000th post! I'm now at the level of the Apple IIGS!

im still waiting for the iPhone 4SPro. In my opinion, the 4 factor was the most beautiful form factor in the history of phones in general

There is one silver lining to this... the fact that Apple has ditched smaller sizes means I will never have to feel tempted to upgrade from my 6S, so there's some peace of mind there in all of that disappointment.

When I first got it, I thought that screen size was too big at first, so hopefully it continues to last because I still can't get used to handling anything bigger than that.

I just upgraded from the 7 to the 13 mini, and I really like the 13 mini. I can kind of understand how people who do most of their computing on phones want bigger screens. I've never been that person--I do almost everything from a laptop.

What I don't understand is why Apple wouldn't want that market of the small phone user. I think I heard it was only 3% of iPhone sales. But the mini started at $699 which is, for a lot of other manufacturers, the high end. And 3% of iPhone sales is still a lot. I'm not sure why they wouldn't want that. There are probably a lot of not well known Android brands that would love to have that marketshare. And it's not as if Apple doesn't make other lower volume products (although most are probably pretty high volume). But as an example, I can't imagine that they sell that many AirPods Max. I can't imagine they sell that many Apple TVs, either.
I am a mini owner myself, and I mourn its discontinuation. But I assume apple believes we will just suck it up and buy the smallest available iPhone rather than go to android. And that belief is true, at least for me.

The 6-style chassis is the largest I've ever had either: 2G, 3GS, 4S, 5c, SE 2016, SE 2020 and 13 mini. Largest by far! I worried I wouldn't get used to it but of course I did. Now I worry I won't someday get used to whatever phone I get next, though of course I will.

It WAS too expensive for what it was. The 11 was 6.1” and $699. Then they go and make a SMALLER phone in the 12 mini for $699, which had terrible battery life according to ALL the reviews: of COURSE it won’t sell well.

For the two cameras, smaller screen, and cheaper aluminum and non-premium colors, it should have been $649 (or even better $599) and the 12 should have been $749 (or $699).

The damage was done with the 12 mini, and I doubt most of the public were not swayed with the 13 mini’s better all around improvements in reviews and so sales continued to be disappointing.

Had the 12mini came out with stainless steel sides, and at least LOOKED like a Pro phone, it would have sold so many more for $699, because it would have looked like a premium Apple best product. But Apple failed to attract the Apple small phone faithful 100%, and they failed to attract the general public with a small device that was priced so high at $699 with a smaller screen than the 11, which you could get for $599.
I have a 12 mini as a personal device and an 11 from my job, and I cannot fathom picking the 11 over the mini. The 11 is hands down the worst iPhone that I’ve ever used, and I’ve had ‘em since 2007.

I picked up an 11 out of need about half a year before the 12s came out. Sold it the moment I received my 12 mini…

I agree the 11 was a terrible size and material. Aluminum was slippery as all get out, but it did take good photos (compared to the 7), and had a good screen (for those that didn’t get panel lottery failure).

It may have been my least favorite phone as well. Actually, the 5s I had with a TERRIBLE screen lottery fail was my least favorite. And I couldn’t type for s*** on that small screen, and had errors all the time.

I‘d prefer an „iPhone Air“. Basically iPhone SE 3rd gen in the body of the 1st gen SE. Mini size but up to date internals and a price of 349€-379€ with 64GB base memory.

Smaller size pro iPhone? Sign me up immediately.

Love the camera advancements phones have made in recent years, but i really miss the small size factor from the days, when you could confidently hold phone firmly in one hand while using it (and slip it back into the pocket easily). I don't need a large screen phone for reading or browsing media, I have Mac & iPad for that.
