I was thinking about getting an S2 but I don't think verizon offers it. I will probably buy the 4S and sell it and just keep my 4.
No one is sure (yet) why Verizon passed on what most sites called "The best smartphone ever" (Samsung Galaxy S 2).
Some people think that Verizon might have scored a timed exclusive with the Nexus Prime, and saw no reason to dilute their offering with a similarly-equipped Galaxy S 2.
Personally, I think that Verizon might have scored an exclusive with the 2nd revision of the Galaxy S 2. My guess is an upcoming 4.5" screen phone with higher resolution that does LTE with the Exynos processor (current Galaxy S 2 phones cannot do HSPA+ or LTE with the Exynos, the ones that do use the weaker dual-core Snapdragon).
Only time will tell. Nexus Prime was slated for release before 2012, but who knows whether that will happen.
Next year is going to be interesting. Google is rolling towards complete cloud integration with video chat/docs/email/google+/voice, etc
Microsoft is obviously trying to play catch up to Android, and Apple doesn't offer all of the 1st party services and features that Google and Microsoft can.
I think this is why Apple is going hard with their new campuses and facilities. I think they have realized that they have just about hit saturation point for their iDevices. Hardware market share won't grow much more with the fierce competition. Software and data is the upcoming new front.
