If there is going to be an iPad Pro event on March 23 based on recent history the announcement should come tomorrow, March 16. Both the September 2020 Apple Watch event and the October 2020 iPhone event were announced 1 week prior.
I've pretty much decided I will be upgrading my 2018 IPP if the new ones have 8GB RAM. If Apple wants to keep growing the iPad experience (multitasking, Pro apps, etc.) then 6GB RAM isn't going to cut it. 8GB will be just as important as the A14X/Z in future proofing the iPad.

Anyone with more Apple knowledge know if there have been events recently announced with less than a weeks' notice? Obviously in these times when the events are entirely virtual it's easier for them to do at short notice but still feels like a week is minimum for hype-building purposes.

Besides the September watch and October iPhone events there was the Nov. 10 - M1 Mac event which was announced on Nov 2 - so I suppose an announcement could come today. Since COVID move to taped virtual events - there have only been those three events (other than WWDC keynote). I suppose they could announce through press release but I would doubt that.

They could absolutely do that but the precedent from the last three virtual events is to send an announcement 7-8 days prior.

Very true, I’m just trying to avoid the “well they didn’t announce today so it’s not happening” messages. It happens every time.

Can’t wait, Did a lock in price on my Gen 2 12.9 before they do an announcement and the value drops
I did the same thing with my 10.5". Although I ended up toting it to the Apple Store today and got the gift card already after hearing the horror stories of doing Apple Trade In through the mail and their partner Phobio. Now I'll be able to order as soon as preorders go live.

The last three virtual event announcements were all sent around 9am PT so we'll find out in a few hours... or maybe apple will mix it up....

Prosser said he would shave off his eye brows. There is still plenty of time tho. The event isn’t until next Tuesday.
I'm not sure, Apple almost always (always?) gives 7+ days of notice for events - even digital ones. I guess they could switch it up, but it would be rather unprecedented. Invitations going out the week before has always been smart because it essentially gives them two consecutive weeks of news cycle coverage: one for the announcement / speculation / predictions, one for the products themselves / first impressions / thoughts.

Doesn't look good for next tuesday. Although there are 3 scenarios still in play.

1) Event invite will happen tomorrow (or later today)
2) It won't be an event as there is not much to show so it will just be press release next tuesday with some Demo videos like last year
3) Its not happening next week

Personally, I am inclined to believe that its just press release. If its just iPad Pros (we assume airtags are not happening) then there is not much to talk about so press release makes perfect sense. An actual event invite would mean that there is something "substantial" to show so in this case it could be airtags and some more good stuff as you can't fill an event with just airtags.

March 30th could be an option for the event but I doubt that.

To me, press release makes the most sense. Here is iPad Pro with Mini LED and A14X. The rest is the same. Price is up $50. Preorder this friday. :)

I'm still holding out out hope that we'll see the invite today.... ! if not it would be a deviation if event is indeed next Tuesday. Maybe the event will be March 30?

Was there time change in California too or not yet? As that could explain it
The time shift in the U.S. happens at the same moment for the whole nation with the exception of the few small regions that don't recognize DST and never switch their clocks. Looking fairly unlikely for an invite today.
