IF Verizon had the iPhone and it wasn't bogged down with crappy Verizon software and IF the Verizon network could handle the iPhone traffic better than AT&T has...I would switch back.

I had Verizon before I came over to AT&T for the iPhone. I never dropped calls and usually had good service (except in basements and such). Plus, almost everyone in my extended family is on Verizon.

oh hai guise! i already haz iphonez on verizon! i haxzorzed it wit dat dar cydiaz and g0t it to workz:

But in all seriousness I'm actually not sure. For one AT&T's UMTS network is as fast as wifi in many cases and you have to admit that's just awesome. If Verizon did offer it with none of there **** attached to it and with a mandatory data plan but offering two data plans maybe $10 for 1GB a month cap and $30 for a 6GB/Unlimited cap that would be great but its not going to happen....

No, because I need a GSM phone for International travel, even if I do have to buy a roaming service package occasionally.

AT&T cellular coverage s*cks in some buildings at work, but they'll probably buy some 3G microcells as soon as they become available in our area.

Nice shoops.

Now, back to the original question. No, I would rather see Verizon burn in hell. I hate them with every bone, muscle, fiber, molecule and atom of my body.

If anything, Sprint should have iPhone and not Verizon. Verizon is doing fine without iPhone and they will offer the same price plans as AT&T. However, Sprint will be more interested to bring in as much as iPhone users possible so they will be more likely to offer very competitive iPhone plans.

Personally, I am switching to T-Mobile when my Verizon contract is up. T-Mobile is the ****. They dont care what you use for a phone, and fully support the iPhone. If Verzion offered one, they'd probably tack on their "smartphone" charge, like they do with the blackberry's, and with what (little) service I get now with them, I would not get one with Verizon.

6 of one, half dozen of another for me. att/vzw service is comparable in my area, and i have friends on both networks so there is not much of a reason for me to switch i guess.

I would stay with ATT. I used to have ATT and switched to Verizon for a family plan with my wife, regretted it from the beginning. Paid the contract termination fee in August and went back to ATT and got the iPhone 3GS. :D

I wouldn't switch. I get great, fast, full 3G wherever I go except where I'm currently at. That's enough to keep me happy. Plus, I've been with AT&T/Cingular/whatever it was before that (I remember AT&T?) for a long time.

huh

sprint doesn't make sense they have a smaller coverage area company sucks and most likley to be the next cell company to go bye bye they are hanging on by a thin rope. and when I was with them they sucked worse then Verizon.

Nope. I've tried other carriers and haven't been as happy as I am with at&t. They have the best coverage where I live and where I go.

I would switch in a heartbeat.

AT&T just sucks here in the Hartford, CT area. My biggest problem is how unreliable the voice network is. About twice a day, when I try making a call, my iPhone will show that it is dialing. The line is absolutely silent. If I cough or make any other kind of noise, I'll hear it echoed back to me. It's like I called someone, and got connected to myself. This problem usually resolves itself if I hang up and try again, but it happened *8 times* while I was trying to make a single call. My dad's RAZR does that too, and it's annoying. It's actually dangerous too - what if I had to make an emergency call? I doubt my echo would be able to help me.

I'm also against AT&T's policies on data. It's advertised as and I pay for unlimited data. Unlimited means that there are no limits (duh), so why can't I use slingplayer on 3G? If the customers want to use what they're paying for and the network isn't capable of providing this service, then AT&T should work on building up their network. I understand blocking Skype because that would directly interfere with one of their products, but slingplayer should definitely be allowed.

Verizon has a few dual band phones, and they plan on going GMRS in the next few years, so it should work :p

Then in the next few years when they pick up GMRS I'll consider it or if they offered a dual band iphone, i'd do some thinking.

For now: nope.

I wouldn't switch, but I would welcome Verizon and any other carrier offering the iPhone and here's why, I have been a happy AT&T/Cingular Customer for the past 10 years, my only gripe with AT&T is with recent problems with the network relating to the iPhone. The problem is that AT&T's exclusive deal with Apple's iPhone is causing them to be a victim of their own success. If other carriers offered the iPhone then those folks that only switched to AT&T because of the iPhone might switch back to their carrier of choice which would spread the load of the crushing iPhone traffic among all of the carriers thereby lessening the burden on AT&T's network. I don't have a lot of trouble here in Ohio, but last week when I was in Las Vegas my iPhone, and the iPhones of the other people I was traveling with were woefully, painfully unresponsive. I couldn't imagine living in a large metro area with that kind of awful coverage.

+1

As far as I can tell there wouldn't be any downside (for the customer at least) if any other carrier got the iphone. Verizon users would be happy that they have a great new phone, and ATT customers would be happy that the network load is lightened.
Also +1 for Ohio!

no, but I would still be very happy to see it because so many others would switch that AT&T's network would do a lot better.

No. Verizon phones won't work abroad. For me, that's a dealbreaker.

Verizon does have world phones, with CDMA for best coverage in the USA, and GSM for overseas.

A quick glance shows the Tour, Storm, and 8830 Blackberries. Plus the Saga, Touch Pro 2, and Ozone WM phones... with the Imagio on the way. That's a pretty good choice of dual radio smartphones.

Many people have gotten Verizon to unlock their GSM side for overseas usage with a cheaper local SIM... something that Apple won't do.

Sprint last I checked can roam on Verizons network for free with eliglbe plans. Works for me. I'm pretty sure Sprint in my area only runs on 1900 with no EVDO so that's good for sprint customers I guess. I guarentee an iPhone on sprint would revive there during company...

I'm pretty sure T-Mobile got rid of there cheapest data plan when they heard iPhone users were using it. Sigh...I wish GSM carriers in the US would just play fair. Buy a SIM choose a non specific phone plan, and buy the phone you want.

Nice shoops.

MSPaint ftw. I am starting to hate verizon too. Don't get me wrong there coverage is amazing I get 1xEVDO everywhere even in areas where AT&T would be on GPRS at best by they charge you unfairly and take vital features off phones like wifi and GPS.
