If someone wanted an iOS like experience (fluidity, media syncing, smooth software updates) without the iPhone, WP7 is the best second option IMO.

The whole experience on WP7 can be more user friendly compared to the Android experience.

As someone who treats style and simplicity as a priority, I think that Windows Phone would be the phone that I would go for. The design is seamless, very similar to iOS' simplicity. Android doesn't look as appealing, and it isn't as open-source as they might have you to believe.

Android.

WP7 has all of the downsides of iOS (mandatory content censorship, bad file and information management, anti-competitive lockdown to make it difficult to use superior competing services) with none of the upsides (a sufficiently big app market to give access to common software, 5 years of development having smoothed out some of the worse UX disasters). I really can't fathom why anyone would want to use WP7 to be honest.

Windows.

Mostly because Microsoft sells me a product whereas Google sells me to carriers and advertisers. Easy choice, there.

And besides that, Android still has that little visual-lag problem due to it being the only smartphone OS that comes from the pre-touchscreen days. Blackberry and Microsoft both started over from scratch after the iPhone came out, but Android is still building off the original software that mixes touchscreen animation in with the other processes. It's not separated out like it in in iOS, Windows, and Blackberry. That's a problem I still notice when I play with Android devices in stores.

Basically, Google decided to take Apple's style while Microsoft decided to take Apple's business strategy. That makes Microsoft more appealing to me as an iPhone user. I think MS really understands why the iPhone has been a success and I think they're being really smart about what they're doing.

Nice story, but a completely untrue myth.

Some handsets do have some lag issues, but not because of why you suggested.

Thanks for the link. Interesting read. But it doesn't' really change anything if it just means the reason for the problem is different.

And at any rate, even if they solve lag that was a small footnote to my real problem, which is Google's business model. I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Android, you can do a lot with them, also the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket is pretty beasty. The UI is better than windows OS IMO, and there are more apps ;)

I like the new Win Mango system, much much better then their previous OSs. At the same time I'm loving Android on my i777 GS2, just smooth and fluid, no lag, and fast. Plus you have custom ROM's that make it even better then it already is, I'm just beyond impressed with this phone and that's coming from someone who didn't care for Android devices before.

But MS did a great job with Mango, and it's a different/unique UI to use vs Android or iOS.

Windows Phone, if I was forced to make a choice.

There are pitfalls, however. It's APIs are horrid (speaking as a developer), and only barely balanced out by it's great development platform.

As an user, WP7 has severe data delays (relative), 1.5gen devices have slow to activate WiFi (imagine turning on your iphone and it took 5-7 seconds for a WiFi connection to be made...), wonky push notification system...

it seems like MS is laying out all the bones, but have yet to add the meat.

On the Windows Phones you have used exactly what sucked about them?

Sent from my Windows 7 Phone using Board Express

Never claimed to have used them, I don't like Windows, or Microsoft, so why would I choose or use their phone?

On a side note, I think its hilarious how my post about not liking Windows, posted on A MAC FORUM got so many negative votes.

To all those who voted my post down, I'm sure there are plenty of Windows forums that would be more to your liking than MacRumors.

What's up with all the unused space on the right side of the home screen in Windows Phone 7? Seems like such a poor design decision. I can't be the only one who finds this annoying.

What's with all the space between icons on the iOS homescreen (especially the iPad)?

We hate Google more than we hate Microsoft.

Microsoft sells you a product, just like Apple, while Google makes YOU the product.

I have tried Android Phones, and have found them lacking. I have not tried a windows 7 phone. If for some reason I was not able to buy an iPhone, I might look more carefully at both, or some other device. On this forum, I think it is a silly question to ask, as I do not have to choose only between a windows phone or an android, or an iPhone. There are many other fish in the sea. Right now I am very happy with my iPhone, and that is my choice.

Not what the OP was asking.

it's where you slide your finger to scroll up and down without accidentally pressing on the tiles. Works great, curious to know what would you put there.

Android is actually multi tasking that's why the ui can be laggy.

Don't believe load a busy web page in safari. While its loading put your finger on the screen and constantly scroll the web page. The web page will freeze its loading until you stop scrolling around.

Android will be jerky but continue to load the web page.

Compromises I guess but most would sacrifice a little fluidity for proper multi tasking capabilities.

I'll admit it needs to be done better but it's better then not at all.

Not the question. If you can't read and understand the question, don't post.

The question is fine because it specifically asks you to choose between 2 clearly defined options. However, because you can't seem to understand that simple concept, you wrote this completely useless post.
