So oil wrecks it. Good job oil isn’t found on hands! Oh wait…

Would love to know the return rate (change of mind) and the attempted return rate (poor quality).

One of the reasons I use a case is that the naked iPhone is too slippery in my hand. The case gives me a better grip.
I am only using a clear plastic case with my 13 pro max because I don't like the feel of the square edges in my hand at all. Tried out the 15 pro max in the Apple Store yesterday and the rounded edges feels more comfortable in my hand. I would be okay using it without a case at all.

Let’s all come back in six months so all the “suckers“ and “dummies” who bought this case (that’s me, and so far, I rather like it) can report on how well it’s lasted. I’ll be the first to be critical.

This whole thread has turned into multiple issues at once (leather and the environment, Apple’s loss of direction, whatever) with little about the cases themselves by people who have used them.

The part of the phone I worry most about is, of course, the front. The folio case (UAG Metropolitan) I use has protected the phone against a half dozen drops (3 feet) to a wood floor. The old saw about bread always falling butter side down is similar for iPhones. They always fall face first. ;)

Well, here’s my old 8+. The crack in front is from me tripping while walking and using my phone in hand (I held out that hand to break my fall). But otherwise, I don’t think I have ever dropped my phone, so a case definitely wouldn’t have protected it in that event.

I am not against cases, but I do like keeping my Apple devices as light and thin as they can be.

I love the fine woven. Much nicer than the leather in every way. At the end of the day its a phone case lol. Wears out in a year or 2 get a new one. Every year internet makes stuff up for views.
I love mine too, so does my wife. What I’m enjoying most is the feel. I picked up my old silicon and leather case today, and they felt ‘yuck’ in comparison, greasy oil magnets. I’m hoping the fine woven doesn’t go the same way, but I have a feeling it won’t. I also like how the fabric backing kind of adds an elegance the others didn’t

Does one have to own/use one to comment or can we comment on the testing that iFixit did? If hot sauce and coffee stain the fabric, there isn't much hope in keeping your uber-expensive phone looking uber-expensive. I don't put on clothes with coffee and hot sauce stains and neither will my iPhone. ;)

Odd, because after 2 years I've never needed to clean my black leather case. If there are greasy oil stains on it, I can't see them.

It very well could fall apart quickly. Too quick to say either way. People shouldn’t be comparing it to leather and expecting the same feel and durability and many are. That is why many are disappointed. And they can thank their bad reasoning for feeling let down.
Who expects Finewoven to feel the same as leather? (no one)
Who expects Finewoven to be as durable as leather? (everyone)

The fact that someone said the entire wall of Finewoven cases was destroyed by people testing the scratch durability says the durability of Finewoven is inferior. It's not bad reasoning. I'm glad you are happy with yours, though.

At the end of the day (or many) it's an expensive phone case that will look like and expensive old and beat up case faster than you think. I buy $10 cases on Amazon so if it gets wrecked, who cares. I don't spend $70 for the same privilege.

I think its the first step to normalize fabric covers.

We'll probably see collab with brands in the coming years for luxury iPhone covers (Like hermes bands for the Apple Watch).
Or McDonald's: 5 sticky fingerprints earn free 6pc "chicken-flavoured" McNuggets.

True enough. And at at least stains come out of most clothing.

People complain too much. These cases look fine. Plus they are in line with Apple’s green goals. Factory farming for leather is not only bad for the environment, it’s unethical. So kudos to Apple for finally making the switch off of leather.
Your moral issues aside, the cases can suck and still meet apples moral goals. They just don’t meet consumer goals which is common once a company starts pursuing moral goals and not customer goals. I don’t care if apple or you have morals I find weird and incoherent…it’s just dumb to expect normal people to excuse garbage because of other peoples morals. Apple’s morals shouldn’t excuse foisting over priced garbage products on people who don’t share their fetish.

Two words “Green Agenda”.
Green stuff is great for corporations. It’s gives then moral cover for doing less for the consumer and a proportion of the population laps it up. The best example is hotels whose biggest cost was laundry and when they realized they could convince all their customers to reuse everything and that they were saving the planet. They saved insane money and their customers thanks them for using dirty towels just like at home. Most green initiatives are some version of this. The leather cases probably cost apple much more than these cheap things. So apple saves money, increase margins and a big proportion of the population talks about it like they cured cancer using magic phrases like “good for the environment” which are value judgments based on perception of moral issues not empirical statements.

I've put my hands on it yesterday. This case is a trap for dead skin and dirt worse than a mouse pad.

I have the woven case for the 15 PM in the black and it seems to work really well. The magnet for the MagSafe seems as strong as the 14 PM leather case. I use the Belkin iPhone mount for Macbooks.

I prefer to use official Apple cases covered by AppleCare+, which will not interfere with or minimize signal interference. Apple spends a lot of money on integration testing the case with the phones.

The case probably should be sprayed with a wet/stain protection coating as stated in the article.

An issue with this case is that some Thunderbolt 4 cables do not work with the case on the phone. The opening for the cable is not large enough.

Does anyone with the case have experience with using the Thunderbolt 4 cables?

I never buy Apple cases for my iphone anyway. They are always overpriced. Wether they are leather or not.
