You should check your data. Framework 16 is out and, guess what, prices increased!
Also the SSD is 1TB. Additional SSDs can be added BUT they are separate disks. No TB4 either. If you want a bag of parts to stick together yourself, go for it.
I don’t use jack-leg mechanics for my car, nor do I want no-name computer shops mucking up my machines. I’ve done it myself and got tired of it.
I really don’t care about “reparability“ for off-brand shops.
im not arguing that Apple could/couldn‘t make it so. Really, I’d rather they didn’t.

Nobody is cross shopping a Framework 16 and an M1 MacBook Air. Completely different machines. I don’t need to check my data because you’re cherry picking unrelated data sets.

Cherry picking???
And you are not???
Look, if you want to assemble your own laptop out of Framework bits and pieces, go right ahead. If you want to try to piece together an "upgrade" Framework isn't a bad choice.
I gave up assembling bits and pieces decades ago because it was too much trouble. No matter what motherboard/memory/CPU/disk you choose/add, it's out of date when it arrives at your place. If you want a windows/Unix/etc laptop, there are other, cheaper choices.
I like the Apple system and I don't care to have it compromised so some jack-leg shop can claim to "repair" them.
