You can use Lucid launcher from the Playstore. It will let you do vertical homescreen scrolling.
The beauty of Android is you can usually find something to help with what you are trying to do.
Different launchers can add customizations.

Very nice, will give it a try. I do love that whenever I have an issue there is usually a solution if you look hard enough. Do you know if I can use a different launcher such as Lucid and still use Goodlock?

Take a look at Nova Launcher, too. I believe it allows said scrolling direction. Not 100% sure on Goodlock use with it...

Looks like Lucid makes all the home screens vertical instead of just one like iOS. Also can't add any more home screens. Very interesting browser though

I can't seem to find those settings

I’m not a big widget user. Never used them on the various Androids phones I’ve had. Don’t use it on my s10 +. Maybe it’s because I’ve never quite understood them. They the same as shortcuts, because I use my edge screen for that.

Nova has 12 different transition scrolling effects to choose from. Been using Nova for years.
Good Lock works with it as well though GL is a Samsung system thing. It don't work with my Pixel.

I'm pretty much happy with the Accuweather widget that's on my Samsung Galaxy S Relay and S4, and Tab 2 and Note 10.1. Old but I love them. The more skeuo the better!

As for the mindset that 'its a gimmick that Android has x feature, but when Apple does it, it's fine because Apple did it " Believe me, it's an Android mindset too, only the thinking is 'Samsung multi-window is a GIMMICK!' 'Google Multi-Window might be late, but Google does it better'

In the end I ask, "who the hell cares? Use what you like! Who cares so much about what some random passerby thinks?"

Heck, I'm using a keyboard slider in 2020--Ironically people are impressed by it, asking where I got it...funny, it's a 2011 Samsung smartphone that was a flop when T-Mobile was pushing it to get folks off the dying Sidekick.

With iOS 14 you still can't drag an app icon towards the bottom of the screen, and place the app right above the dock. LOL come on Apple.

And these themes aren't real themes, you need to use the Shortcuts app to fake this new theme method. So every time you click the app it runs shortcuts for a second first, before going into the app. Come on Apple, just allow full on theming already.

This isn’t exactly new. Something like this has been possible since iOS 13. Though I guess it’s gotten more popular / mainstream with iOS 14. Here’s an example of someone who had been running a shortcuts-only Home Screen since last year.

i think there’s potential to go one step further. Work towards launching actions instead of apps. And this gets more people to experiment with the shortcuts app, and that’s a good thing in my book.

There is the Profiles way of doing themes, it’s much better than the Shortcuts one:

Personally don’t care for theming, I got over it on android back in 2015 or so when I got over using Launchers and all that stuff.

I’ve been pretty happy on iOS, probably due to the fact that j don’t care much for all this customization anymore, lol.

I remember dabbling with custom ROMs, before “OneClick ROOT” was even a thing and doing all sorts of modifications including overclocking on the Galaxy S2, nearly bricking my Xperia X10 back in 2010 when trying root methods and trying out all sorts of CyanogenMod stuff on my Galaxy S3, good times.

I have my Huawei P40 Pro to satisfy any sort of desire to go bananas on customization but I setup it’s home screen similarly to my iPhone’s homescreen which is to have a News Widget, Music Widget, weather Widget and folders of my most used apps.

It’s been interesting to watch the TikTok kids go bananas with the iPhone modifications though, iOS getting more Android features is a good thing for both OSs I think, it helps brings more creativity around that stuff.

Chuckle all you want. I however don’t need or use widgets. As for the themes, the one I’ve seen in this thread look horrific as have most on Android. More power to the people who like their phones to look like a tricked out Nokia from the late 90s

Yes it is about time they get Android type features but they still aren't as good as mentioned.
I don't do a lot of customizing, but I like to use Nova and try other launchers and keyboards and use icon packs and such.
Nothing drastic and it is nice that it is easy on Android. Hec Siri still sux on iOS
