Does a case have to have MagSafe in it to make MagSafe work? i.e would a thin case with out it still work? I don't want to choose a case and then find out the any MagSafe devices I order do not work
I’ve had both types of case with the iPhone 12 and a MagSafe case works way better

If you‘re placing your iPhone flat down on a MagSafe charger it will work fine without a MagSafe case. The charger might gently cling to the case and charge too. If you plan to mount the phone on a MagSafe car charger or upright charger you’re best going with an Apple MagSafe case or a 3rd party magnet case (one with a ring built in).

Loads of 3rd party cases support this like ESR, Spigen, elago etc

I want a Spigen case but still trying to decide which 1.

Liquid Air (2.95 x 5.91 x 0.41 inches)
Tough Armor (3.06 x 6.02 x 0.49 inches)

The Tough Armor is quite a bit bigger and I've got small hands... :(

Not getting my screen protector until Monday and my back screen protector isn’t coming until Friday!

I'm going with the Tough Armor myself. My phones have fallen way too many times on concrete floors.

Yea it is. It’s listed as 13 pro max. Not a fan of the thickness of the tempered glass that’s why I always get the thin non glass screen protectors. I’ve also always bought ringke fusion for all my iPhones annually. These two are like a tradition now lulz
Interesting that you are going with the PET Screen protector rather than the more popular tempered glass version. I’m curious because I too don’t like the feel of the tempered glass ones. How do you avoid bubbles with Super Shieldz PET version?

I don’t have anything to contribute to the tech stuff here but I have to comment on the kitty!! I LOVE the kitty!!

I have seven of them myself and anytime I bring home anything they do a full investigation! And sit in whatever they can (“if I fits, I sits”)
Adorable floofy kitties! Admit it, when you upgrade your cameras, it’s for them!

Each human member of my family has filled our iCloud storage with thousands of cat and dog photos! 🤣

Sorry if someone else already answered you. I’m still working my way through all the posts.

The clear Casekoo case I posted about will allow the phone to charge, but the magnetic hold is weak, so I have to be extra careful positioning it.

I would not count on any case that lacks magnets to hold MagSafe accessories like wallets or car mounts.

Many more accessories makers are now incorporating the magnets into cases than they did at the 12’s release last year, so you should find a pretty good array of options this year. Give it another couple of weeks to really see a bunch more come out.

Geez! I have to say their tech support is fantastic, but the fact that it's a yearly process is awful. I got a new case this summer (again) for my 2016 SE. . And they are not cheap cases.
I got the one that has a built in attachment for the pop socket for my 12 mini. It’s a lot like the silicone case. But I’m shocked that it feels thinner and has less protection at the camera. It cost more than the Apple silicone. If only Apple had released a purple that matched the purple of my 12 mini. Well they did but I see it’s for the 13’s.

My husband loves Liquid Air and he’s dropped his phone several times in it so it’s definitely protective. It’s light and grippy (when his phone dropped it slid off other things he forgot he stacked his phone on). He’s been using Liquid Air since 11 Pro Max and 12 Pro Max and has ordered one for his 13 Pro Max.

I ordered two Caudabe Sheath cases in gray and navy. I had filled out a survey awhile back and had a 30% off coupon so I figured now is the time to use it. I’m also going to be using a pop socket with MagSafe so I can move to different cases. Unfortunately the expected ship date isn’t until the 27th so I’ll likely have to go caseless for a week. I may pick up a cheap case if I can find a clear one I like that’s in stock and also has MagSafe.

Heads up, I had this for my 12 PM and the corners kept cracking, without dropping it. Apple had me send them to them and they replaced it 3 times.
Mine cracked at the corners, too. That’s why I’m trying the Spigen one this time. It looks almost the same but has flexible edges and covers the entire bottom of the phone.

I feel like there are less case choices for the Mini.....
For the 12 mini I was able to find pretty much everything I wanted. I got clear cases to show of the colors. I got Apple Silicone for the soft feel and grip. I’m able to hold onto the mini better than I can larger iPhones, so I haven’t tried to find more rugged cases so I don’t know what the rugged case selection was like for 12 mini.

I’m upgrading my green 12 mini to a 13 mini in late spring so I hope I’ll be able to get all the kinds and colors of cases I want.

I bought the Sequoia leather and blue jay silicone to test. I love this green. I have a Sierra blue phone coming etc.

I was looking for something clear to show off the phone color, but with a pop of color around the edges or bumpers. And it needed a raised front edge and some sort of drop protection. I ordered a Lifeproof SEE and hope the front edge is raised, it was hard to tell and I can't find any reviews so I think it's a newer style.

Has anyone found a case that will make the back flush?
Every single case that I have look at has the camera bump which would make the case wobble on its back.
I mean, can't any case makers have a case that is just slightly thicker to match the camera bump?
Casetify cases are the only ones that I know where the back is flush. I love using them on my 12PM but it is heavy for a case imo (impact case).

That's exactly what I'm doing. Love the Caudabe Sheath. Don't mind waiting a little bit for it. Will just get a cheap replacement on Amazon while I wait.
