iPad Pro I'm returning my iPad pro... [MERGED]

I will be returning my iPad pro. I find using it casually is a frustrating experience. It's too big and heavy for enjoying content comfortably. The size is really awkward to hold or sit it in my lap. As for it replacing my laptop, I had high hopes there too. I know it's still iOS and limited. I guess I was hoping for some tweaks to utilize the screen real estate better, but it doesn't. A lot of wasted screen space. Furthermore, iOS is still too simple and bare to function and multitask like a laptop. Probably by iOS 11 they'll have this figured out. The multitasking albeit a step in the right direction, is still somewhat of a joke. Also, the tracking (with my finger) didn't feel hardly at all improved. (Does the Pencil improve tracking?) I tried it on my iPad Air 2 and maybe the the iPP had the slightest bit better tracking, but it still lags quite a bit.

Sad. I really thought I'd love it. Maybe in a few years when iOS matures and the iPP is thinner and lighter.

Not saying there isn't great use for many people with it. This is just my opinion and thought it might help anyone on the fence.

It's so thin as it is. How much thinner and lighter do you want? This is what confuses me. There are comments like this and then comments about not enough battery or no 3D Touch. Both of which would add weight and thickness.

I can't help but think if it gets any thinner there will be no way of providing any re-enforcement.
It'll bend just due to its size, or from a sudden gust of wind. I'm scared enough with it as it is that say if putting it into a backpack that any pressure from anything else in the bag will bend it...
Unless its the iPad paper edition that is designed to be able to roll up / bend / fold to your hearts desire without breaking the components internally. Which doesn't exist yet.


As much as I agree it seems awkward to hold. I also don't. Even with the original pads I tended to prefer to prop it on something or lay it flat, only hold if necessary. When I do hold, I find basically never hold mine vertically.

I had the same thought of returning when I got mine but after using for 2 days I am just enjoying it too much. It's perfect for my use. And I feel easier to work with than earlier iPads.

Came close to returning mine today, but I will give it a few more days.

I really like web browsing in portrait mode, and video playback is fantastic. But for me that's all it is going to be, it's just too frustrating to do anything "serious" with iOS.

I asked if they had any open-box units (I like to save money) and he said he though they they had open-box units for all the configurations. So, I guess people are returning them already.

It is heavy compared to the iPad Air 2. I'm on the fence, I love the screen, speakers, full size soft keyboard, and speed. But it is awkward to hold and use compared to the Air. I'm using it mostly on my lap or on the bed or other soft surface when sitting. I'm not expecting it to replace a laptop fully or run OS X. I would not mind an iPad larger than the Air but I was surprised by how much larger this is in person.

Do you think the next gen will thicker and heavier? All I'm saying is that apple will find ways to make it lighter and not as awkward to use and/Or they improve iOS to function better for the size screen.

As it stands now, I find my air2 to be much more enjoyable for content and a MB or MBP in my lap for comfort and "pro" use.

Since 12.9 inch vs. 9.7 inch sounds like "just" 2-3 inch of difference" but in fact the screen area is nearly 70% larger than the iPad Air 2.

The unique aspect of many Apple enthusiasts is they tend to be vain. Instead of mentioning how useful an Apple product is, they're more concerned about boosting their self esteem by being seen with something cool.

Looks are very important and that's how Apple gets them to pay high prices. With their identity attached to their things they will pay whatever Apple wants them to pay. Apple is very clever.

People want it to have every feature and no weight. It needs to be as thin as paper, but comfortable to hold at the edges and unbendable (except when you want it to fold up into a credit card). The battery should last forever and it should go to 1000 nits while running at 6ghz.

This is the potential downfall in any industry with listening to customer feedback religiously. There will be lots of good suggestions/complaints/concerns, and you don't want to ignore them, but if you aggregate the data and build the device from that then you get:

Of course while some people have paradoxical expectations, a lot of what's going on is just that people don't agree. The ones who want 3D Touch and more battery don't care about weight for whatever reason. Others would skip those things to keep mass down.

Samsung destroid the Tab S by making it even thinner, stripping away features, and giving it a even lower battery life on the Tab S2. I wanted to love the Tab S but after 6 months of use, the Apple quality wasn't there. My old iPad 3 scrolled smoother than the Tab s. Then the horrific short battery life was all I could take of Samsung tablets.

However, I use it for and additional display, reading on the train, websites like this one are easier to look at... I love the keyboard and pencil which are on the way. I thought about this when I went with the Pro 128 wifi. I will see if there is a need for LTE in my future. My truck has wifi so not too worried about it for now.
