Personally I just tether my phone or pocket wifi.
Is there an advantage of getting LTE over doing this?

For the life of me I don't know why people that don't like products waste their time on forums for those products. I wouldn't know where to look for an Android forum. Unless and until I decide to buy a product running Android, what's the use?

For those thinking about tethering: keep in mind your connection with cut off if a phone call comes in. Your iPad will have to reconnect. I've had this happen to me many times in the past while tethering to my laptop.

Isn't that only true for Verizon

Battery life of both devices.
Also, GPS is only on the lte version. This saved my butt when traveling to Ireland last summer since you don't have to have a data connection for it to work. Just saved a map of the area we were traveling through and it just worked.

I have tMobile. From my experience, the cellular connection from tethering cuts off for a moment. Once I answer the call, tethering is connected again.

Not huge delay nor a huge problem, but it's happened enough times to make me go LTE.

Maybe because a lot of people are on the fence and are interested in both the good and bad opinions of a product. If only fanboys hung out singing its praises, that isn't particularly helpful.

I think it is a little big for constantly taking out and putting it away. Honestly, i'm probably going to buy a mini 3 or 4 to complement my pro. Maybe that was Apple's plan all along.

for an iPad Pro with lte. I loved the device so much I had to have the lte model. Im a dev so this doesnt replace my macbook for me. However, I use it for and additional display, reading on the train, websites like this one are easier to look at... I love the keyboard and pencil which are on the way. Plus this thing is blazingly fast.
So is your plan to take this beast out and about then?

The pro is a bit large to use as a portable map though I think

Came close to returning mine today, but I will give it a few more days.

I really like web browsing in portrait mode, and video playback is fantastic. But for me that's all it is going to be, it's just too frustrating to do anything "serious" with iOS.
I'm curios why you bought it in the first place then. Unless you never had an iPad and aren't familiar with iOS on it...

Nice, you are so lucky! can't wait till they arrive here, LTE model is a must and makes the device even more powerful in terms of use. As an iPad power user I can't wait for this. I only use my iPad to manage our business.

Not saying there isn't great use for many people with it. This is just my opinion and thought it might help anyone on the fence.

Here is my opinion. Don't buy the iPP unless you can really take advantage of the Apple Pencil. Drawing and inking is the main selling point of the iPP. The bigger screen is to facilitate better drawing and inking, but also improves the experience of many other apps.

Do not buy the iPP if you don't draw or ink (take notes). It is still an iPad. The bigger screen alone, will NOT work magic to make it work like a full computer, despite the faster hardware.

When Tim Cook said "it will replace a computer for many, many people", he is not wrong because many does not mean everyone. He carefully chose the use of word, not to even use "most" people. Importantly, there is nothing miracle about the iPad Pro compared to Air 2. The Pencil and larger screen are the main features that set the Pro apart. Again, neither will make the iPad to function like a full computer.

Set your expectation right about the iPad Pro before buying one. By the way, the 12.9" screen does make the iPP heavier and less portable. Apple has not invented the technology to defy the law of physics. It is apparently not obvious to some.

Personally I think a MacBook Pro with retina is a better value than the iPad Pro. For a little more money, it does a lot more. There is no denying though that the iPad Pro is great for artists however.

True that. if I had the money, I'd have an iPP along with a bunch of other stuff. But having to equip four kids, my options are limited... LOL
Yep ... Loving it to peices - bit peed off at the lack of availability of the pencil ' keyboard though. Of course those are available for silly money on eBay... Less than 24 hours from order to deliver the pad, 5 weeks (at the same time as ordering) for the pencil...

I'm totally up in the air about my IPP and whether or not to return it or keep it and sell my trusty Air 2.

My work involves so many applications that aren't available in any shape or form on iPad (InDesign, Scrivener, Ableton Live, Logic Pro X, Maschine, endless plugin audio instruments and effects, and all manner of other music software), so the whole 'pro' thing is completely irrelevant in my case. I have no choice but to stick with my 5K iMac and 12" MacBook for work, which is fine – they're both fantastic machines.

The IPP is also significantly less wieldy than the Air 2, of course, which matters to me, given that I very much view the iPad as a 'couch' thing rather than a 'desk' thing.

However, it is a lot of fun and, as others have said, amazingly immersive. But then, at £800, does that alone justify keeping it any selling my Air 2 (for about £400, I'd imagine)?

I. Just. Don't. Know.

This. I think.

I'm thinking of the LTE version as well.

Does TMob still do the "free" 200MB plan?

That was my main reason for LTE. The battery life of the Pro wifi is outstanding, I wonder how much of a hit the battery life will take with LTE?? I would think it will be minimal. I am getting 12 hours on the Pro while Internet surfing so even if you loose 1 hour with LTE, you still will be in spec and above 10 hours.

You don't have to pick a carrier when purchasing anPro LTE anymore right? I can buy a LTE and decide later???

I thought about the LTE model, but honestly Apple has made tethering to an iPhone so easy I can't really justify paying more when tethering is including in my AT&T Family Plan. We have a ton of data with the monthly roll over so to me it just makes sense to use what I have. I do understand the desire/convenience of the built-in LTE, though; my 1st gen iPad was the 3G model and the seamless connectivity made the user experience pretty damn good. I wish I had not given up that unlimited plan years ago.

I had a situation when I ran out my iPhone and iPad tethering when I really needed my iPad to work. So... every since then I am warry of not having LTE available.

You are correct!
