On my iPad 4 I always regretted not getting cellular, however with the iPP it is a different beast for me and wifi is just fine.

I'm thinking of the LTE version as well.

Does TMob still do the "free" 200MB plan?

Yep! I've used the 200mb for my Air for the past two years, and just signed up on Wednesday for the Pro. It's enough for me to use "in between" wifi spots. I'm on AT&T but I am most likely moving to T-Mobile next year when my contract is up anyway, so then I can also tether if I need more data.

Here is my opinion. Don't buy the iPP unless you can really take advantage of the Apple Pencil. Drawing and inking is the main selling point of the iPP. The bigger screen is to facilitate better drawing and inking, but also improves the experience of many other apps.

Do not buy the iPP if you don't draw or ink (take notes). It is still an iPad. The bigger screen alone, will NOT work magic to make it work like a full computer, despite the faster hardware.

When Tim Cook said "it will replace a computer for many, many people", he is not wrong because many does not mean everyone. He carefully chose the use of word, not to even use "most" people. Importantly, there is nothing miracle about the iPad Pro compared to Air 2. The Pencil and larger screen are the main features that set the Pro apart. Again, neither will make the iPad to function like a full computer.

Set your expectation right about the iPad Pro before buying one. By the way, the 12.9" screen does make the iPP heavier and less portable. Apple has not invented the technology to defy the law of physics. It is apparently not obvious to some.

While I sort of agree almost completely with that, I am a disabled Veteran AND now 66 years old in a lot of pain. I ordered mine ONLY for the larger more immersive (I HOPE!) screen and 4 speaker sound. I already own an iPad 4 that is a refurb when my originl died 3 days before the 1 year warranty was up. Had 2 badly defective iPad Air 2 models I returned after I gave up. I also just bought an Android Samsung - Galaxy Tab S - 10.5" - 32GB - Titanium Bronze that I LOVE due to it's Magazine Style UI. But I sort of love almost everything out there if I could just afford it:) Tried a 15 inch Macbook Pro but sold it after 4 months and the infamous charger failure pissed me off once I learned it would be a never ending 4- 8 month $90.00 expense Apple refuses to acknowledge and I HATED the operating system. So here I am, the store sold out after I waited in line 1 hour 18 minutes (THAT also pissed me off that they never told any of use they had sold out and told me they hoped we may find something else we may want while waiting???!). So I went home and ordered the Wi Fi 128 in Gold. I hope for me it will be the BEST device for simple sue to be honest. Light browsing and YouTube use as well as just wandering through the Internet daily. Have big heavy gaming laptop that just hurts too much for me to use these days since I got crippled. So I think MAYBE a few geezers as well as other folks who are disabled as badly as myself may find it a really worthwhile investment too? Worst case scenario is I can return it all the way out to Jan 8! Nice to have so much testing time. But will get it Thursday and know a lot more. Their shipping is INSANE! Tracking is all over the place and makes no sense but it's their money. So far, on it's way to me here in Oceanside (USMC Base Camp Pendleton area) it flew right past me last weekend to go all the way to the east coast then be driven by TRUCK back to me? Crazy. As crazy as the device itself:) See tracking:

I will be returning my iPad pro. I find using it casually is a frustrating experience. It's too big and heavy for enjoying content comfortably. The size is really awkward to hold or sit it in my lap. As for it replacing my laptop, I had high hopes there too. I know it's still iOS and limited. I guess I was hoping for some tweaks to utilize the screen real estate better, but it doesn't. A lot of wasted screen space. Furthermore, iOS is still too simple and bare to function and multitask like a laptop. Probably by iOS 11 they'll have this figured out. The multitasking albeit a step in the right direction, is still somewhat of a joke. Also, the tracking (with my finger) didn't feel hardly at all improved. (Does the Pencil improve tracking?) I tried it on my iPad Air 2 and maybe the the iPP had the slightest bit better tracking, but it still lags quite a bit.

Sad. I really thought I'd love it. Maybe in a few years when iOS matures and the iPP is thinner and lighter.

Not saying there isn't great use for many people with it. This is just my opinion and thought it might help anyone on the fence.

I have the same feelings about the iPad Pro, but why'd you buy one to find these out? Couldn't you already have known the issues you'd have with it before going in store to buy it? To me that seems pretty impulsive to buy an iPad in the "hopes" you'd like it eventually. If you know the limitations of an iPad/iOS device, couldn't you figure out that the Pro is just bigger with some key features? Not trying to rag on you for the purchase, but too often it seems people jump on the latest flashy Apple toy and then come here to complain that it didn't change their world, so it goes back to the store!

I'm curios why you bought it in the first place then. Unless you never had an iPad and aren't familiar with iOS on it...

It's a matter of the larger screen and capability inviting the user to do more with it. I had never actually tried to move and read PDF magazines on my phone, but that would seem to be an obvious use for the IPP. I did get the files moved so I could read them on the IPP, but it involved using my Macbook. So why not just read them on the Macbook.

In my case the iPad was sort of limited convenience device, it's what you use for quick you tube viewings and other situations where you lack a more capable machine. There seems to be a problem when you are invited to do more with it.

There are a few things that I had been naive about with the IPP. As an example I had assumed Chrome on iOS would be able to view webm video inline in a web page, it cannot I have found. So there goes the enjoyment of reading Reddit and other video intensive sites. As well I had just assumed that Apple would have made some differences in iOS to accommodate the IPP, such as a way to calibrate the display. My IPP has a great display, but the colors and gamma are all wrong as compared to all of the other machines I use, and there is no way to fix this yet. And because of the color problem even using the pencil for graphics wouldn't work for me.

So all in all it's just a huge iPad. It's admittedly beautiful, but in my case I have found it's actually more difficult to use it in a workflow than not. I may keep it because of wow factor, and it being a somewhat outrageous luxury device. Not sure yet.

Thank you for your service to this country!:)

It is heavy compared to the iPad Air 2. I'm on the fence, I love the screen, speakers, full size soft keyboard, and speed. But it is awkward to hold and use compared to the Air. I'm using it mostly on my lap or on the bed or other soft surface when sitting. I'm not expecting it to replace a laptop fully or run OS X. I would not mind an iPad larger than the Air but I was surprised by how much larger this is in person.

Couldn't agree more. My Air 2 is totally fantastic and goes everywhere. Have to admit I am undecided about the Pro. It is heavy and clumsy and I would
not say the screen is any better than the Air or that I notice any difference
in speed for what I use it for. It's bigger and sounds better and that's about
it. Maybe if I had got the pencil and keyboard that I asked for when I bought
it I might have viewed it differently.
Got until middle of January to try it out but feel the novelty will wear off
before I get any accessories and I will probably return it.

I had the same thought of returning when I got mine but after using for 2 days I am just enjoying it too much. It's perfect for my use. And I feel easier to work with than earlier iPads.

I'm betting that you will return it within the 14 day period. I went to the Apple Store to demo it and while the first 3 minutes was like wow it soon faded really quick. Seeing that I already own a iPad Air 2 I'm not missing anything.
I'll wait for pen support, 3D Touch and 4 speakers to work it's way down to the 9.7" model. Getting the iPad pro would be a huge financial mistake.

Whole new experience with a bed stand by FLOTE... This should ship with the iPad Pro!

If buying an iPad Pro would mean a huge financial mistake for him, he has a bigger problem to deal with in his life.

Why is that? Wasting several hundred dollars or more would be a significant financial blow to a lot of people. You make it sound like an iPad Pro just costs a few bucks.

If a few hundred bucks is a significant financial blow to you, you should not buy it. Nobody has to buy every Apple product on earth. Use the money for something more meaningful.

Well mine went back this afternoon. Very very tough to part with such a beautiful object.

I suppose until it is running a more functional "iOS Pro" it will have a very limited usefulness.

It's more than a "few" hundred, especially if you want a 128 GB model. But isn't that exactly what he's saying? Doesn't mean that he has some big problems in his life, as you say, just because he doesn't have $800+ for a product he doesn't actually need.

After years of paying off credit card debt, motorcycle and car payments I am finally debt free as of one month ago. One does not buy a $900 to $1200 tablet for the hell of it especially if I'm already rocking a iPad Air 2. Wouldn't you consider that to be a foolish investment? What else do you call it?

A thing that is certainly going to depreciate in value from the moment you open the box is not a good investment. You should not view any electronics purchase as an investment. It's money spent for leisure and entertainment. If the expenditure for leisure and entertainment is eating into your budget for necessities, you should reduce this expenditure. Foolish or not, it depends on you. If you think it's not worth it to buy the iPad Pro, you should not buy it. What people say on the internet should not affect your choice.

I didn't have these feelings when I bought it. I fully anticipated loving it and using it to replace my MBP and my air2. It wasn't until owning it that I discovered how much I don't like it and how impractical it is. Knowing it is larger and knowing the specs isn't like holding it and using it.

A non essential expense that YOU cannot afford. But it doesn't no one can.
