I have a new glitch after the update. I noticed after sleeping for a while when I wake up my iMac there's a white tint over the screen that goes away after a few seconds and it returns to its normal saturated picture. It's almost like the brightness is out of wack. Anyone else?
Yeah I had the same thing happen last night. I had to restart for it to go away. It only happened on my iMac, my external monitor looked normal

Well at least we know the graphics glitches are fixable now. I'm sure this will be fixed as well. It didn't happen to me in the Big Sur beta.

You should use

Intel® Power Gadget

To correctly check at which Ghz is running the CPU.

Seems Novabench is just showing you the Ghz associated to this chipsets UID

but yes, you can run novabench and Intel Power Gadget at the same time and then see the Ghz fluctuation

there isn't AMD System Monitor for MacOS 😑, shame on AMD, being on Mac Pro and haven't developed yet a MacOS version of this app

I got my second line glitch just as I was about to install the patch. None since the update.

However, I'm still getting the strobe flash in Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Maybe it's specific to that game and AMD hardware. They promote NVidia on the startup screen, so....

I'll post a video showing the issue later this evening.

*Update*

The TR glitch has been going on since a patch in 2018 and also occurs with NVidia cards:

I’ve had this glitch since before the update. Others have mentioned it might just be a Catalina thing. Do you have automatic login enabled or do you have to type the password in every time? I think it might be tied to the login screen.

It's password protected but kind of automatic as my apple watch unlocks it.

Right, I’m not familiar with what that looks like, I imagine the login screen is still briefly shown while the handshake happens?

Have you ever seen the white overlay not immediately following waking? I think I have but I’m not entirely sure.

Also, just a random shot in the dark but do you happen to have Monosnap installed?

Edit: just happened to me now! Had to log out and log back in for it to go away.

It looks like ticking either 'Increase contrast' or 'Reduce transparency' under Sys Prefs -> Accessibility -> Display -> Display fixes the corner issue. Not sure if this was mentioned before.

I noticed in dark mode If I dragged a window thru any background image with a gradient I could replicate at will the corner issue by dragging over a certain threshold of the background’s brightness.

edit : FT window top left corner

I'm so glad that I spent the morning catching up on the last couple of days in the thread. Thanks to everyone who participated in the poll, made reports to Apple and kept us moving toward achieving a reliable fix to the problem!

As a side note. I've noticed that the only sensor that shows temp in iStat Menus is my SSD. No thermal sensor readings for CPU, GPU, etc. Anyone else having this? Just a new Mac so wait it out?

sounds like you have the AppStore version. If you contact iStat they will give you the liscence key for their standard version which works ont the iMac 2020

Yes the login screen is shown briefly.

I think I have seen the white overlay not following waking as well since the update but not certain either.

No mono snap. Sorry

I haven't been able to get Apple Watch unlock to work so far. Fails to connect every time. I've had it prompt the watch to enter my iCloud password but it never results in anything. I've restored the Watch, updated and restarted the iMac, signed in and out of iCloud, disabled and enabled Handoff, disabled and enabled Bluetooth.

Anyone have similar issues? Watch Series 4.

This is a little off-topic, but after seeing the Novabench screen grabs, I decided to download it so I could compare the results from my three year-old 27-inch iMac with the Radeon Pro 580. Surprise: the overall GPU score is the same as that in the images posted here for the current model with the 5700 XT — 558. Why? Looks as though Novabench is averaging (weighted?) the Metal and OpenCL scores, and the 580 appears to do a lot better in the OpenCL test. So I'd approach the Novabench GPU scores with some caution if your main application is based on Metal.

Actually for me it has been the opposite. I could never get the Apple Watch unlock to work reliably. Now it works every time. One of the many improvements I am experiencing that is improving my efficiency. My bluetooth head phones finally work properly too.

I reran several benchmarks last night after the patch was applied; I ran Geekbench, Cinebench r20 and Unigien Heaven. The performance values I got (CPU and GPU as appropriate) were about the same pre and post patch here. What did appear to be different is the fan speeds ramped-up sooner and faster then they did pre patch. It appears that the fan profile may have been modified. The good news is that the fan changes are slight and do not greatly increase overall noise pre vs post patch operation for the most part. To be honest, I was amazed that my new iMac was so much quieter than my 2015 iMac when running the exact same tasks given how much more powerful my new Mac is in both CPU and GPU performance.
Im getting 1040 about double prior GPU scores in Novabench after the update. Anyone else?

Did you enter the iCloud account on the watch app?

I have the version with the license key and I am seeing the same thing. Have they updated iStat to support the 2020 iMac?

Do you use a Wacom?

Yeah, it’s annoying!!

Ah well was worth a shot – it kind of has a similar overlay that it displays when selecting a window for a screenshot which is why I thought it might have something to do with it but I’ve since quit it and have seen the overlay since (on wake, again).
