The white transparent overlay issue occurred just not to me after waking from a brief sleep where the login screen didn’t trigger. Leads me to believe it’s not the login screen. Either way, I toggled the brightness and it made it go away.

Day 1 of no fix for this annoyance.

Im getting 1040 about double prior GPU scores in Novabench after the update. Anyone else?

I did too, but only intermittently. Some are near 1000, some are closer to 550. Novabench's benchmarks all seem to indicate 550ish is average, so I was too a bit surprised to get a 980 after update.

Meaning that test is wildly inaccurate if we all have the same GPU lol

well, I guess users could send petitions to AMD to ralease their AMD System Monitor for MacOS

How they haven't done it yet? They are a huge brand, is not that difficult for them release a proper System Monitor for their cards, also it is good for them, because by doing that they show to their costumers "apple costumers some" that they care about them.

I tend to agree, but I've seen a couple users have that random result occasionally, and it wasn't showing up before the update. I'm not really a benchmark person though so who knows.

those are 2 good apps

smcFanControl works properly, you can easily up the RPM of your fans

but Stats I do not know how accurate it is, plus I do not see at what Ghz is working CPU/GPU

Stats gives a lot of data, but don't know if I can trust it

the Power Consumption of my system doesn't look real. System total 12.27W...

Now that the software patch is out, should we reset the Poll?

see if anyone is experiencing the glitch after updating?

I don't think the poll should be reset.. maybe create a new one regarding the issue since the 10.15.7 software update.

Yes please! Is it possible to reset or create a new poll just to make sure the white line glitch has been fixed with the software patch?

Fixed for me. No glitches during use last night using darker screens when I always used to see an occasional streak. Great work, Apple.

I have the version with the license key and I am seeing the same thing. Have they updated iStat to support the 2020 iMac?
Here’s their answer :

Hi Michael,

Thanks for your email.

Unfortunately we are still working on adding support for the new iMac's to the App Store version of iStat Menus. We hope to have an update available soon.

Kind regards,

They are saying that you cannot even purchase the latest GPU really. Either way, if you buy into Apple you are likely not constantly upgrading, and you know this.

When people make a decision worth thousands of dollars, they tend to do the research and see what the company is like.

I am new to Mac, when the computer comes out of hibernation there is a period of a few seconds that seem much longer where my mouse and keyboard do not work.

Strange, since I push the spacebar to wake the computer up.

This is very annoying, it cannot be normal can it?
Any external drive connected?

Interesting. When I reached out to them yesterday they sent me back a similar answer but also a link to install the Beta which has support for all the sensors. Seems like it’s working well for me the last 24 hours or so.

Issue appears fixed for me, although I’ve had a 4K monitor plugged into my machine for most of its existence so I didn’t notice it. I just bought an LG 5K UltraFine off a friend that will arrive next week that will potentially replace the 4K, so I assume I’ll never see any white line again. But I’ve been running the iMac without the second screen attached and all seems good.

As for the square corners issue, maybe I’m naive but I’ve just based this on the continued debacle/embarrassment that is Catalina. I went in with low expectations so seeing this kind of issue really hasn’t surprised me and I’m not even fully convinced it’s specific to this graphics card or machine. I mean, it could be, but it could be a more pervasive Catalina bug impacting lots of machines.

In any event, if that sort of thing continues into Big Sur, I’m sure plenty of us will file bugs.

Not seeing square corners with new Mac Pro and Vega II.
