Mine took about a day from preparing for dispatch to dispatched, but it does seem to vary a bit - I wouldn't expect you to be waiting much longer now for it to move, or at least for the shipping docs to reach UPS so you can start tracking it there.

Unless, like me, they're a little confused by it being a "UK" order when your location is showing as NY, NY?

Still waiting for initial status change beyond order placed early AM on Dec 15. They're obviously taking great care building my un-throttled iMac Pro.:D:cool:;):):apple:

That's what I thought based on responses on this thread - that it takes about a day to ship after being in the preparing state. I go back to work next week and was hoping I could get my iMP all set up this weekend... but that seems unlikely now.:(

Thanks for pointing that out :). I'm based in NY, but currently in London on a three year secondment... and never updated my profile when I moved here last August.

Well that makes sense now. And (a bit late at this point but...) - welcome to the UK! I expect this will be a mild winter for you compared to NY.

Thank you! And yes, the milder winters are a welcome change:)

Also, just got my iMP shipment notification... delivery on Friday!!:D:D

Woohoo! Excellent news.
:)

If you're interested, I used this site to track the flights I guessed mine was on (you can click on an aircraft to get all sorts of info and see the track it has followed):
http://www.marinevesseltraffic.com/2014/04/ups-air-cargo-flight-tracker.html

Mine went from Shanghai to Dubai then to Cologne, then East Midlands Airport (Birmingham) though there are also some flights to London Stansted which would make more sense for you. Then again Stansted would have made more sense for mine too, but UPS obviously have some sort of routing algorithm which I assume has a logical basis (or maybe not). Let's hope yours isn't held up by bad weather like mine was, but I don't think we're expecting much snow this week so hopefully you should be ok. Good luck!

Order tips:
Education & EPP discounts DO apply today!
If you order the trackpad, it will delay shipment.

I confirmed that the business discount will not beat the military or education discount.

Even so it's a little late, I wanted to thank Trebuin for opening this thread. I already had ordered the 10 core, 64 GB, 1 TB SSD, Vega 56 within 15 minutes on the 14th when I saw this post. Since it's my first Apple Desktop I didn't realize that EPP does apply. For iPhone launches it typically does not.

So two hours later I placed another order with the EPP and since I had the budget and with the savings I ordered the Vega 64 instead and cancelled my original order. So thanks Trebuin. You upgraded my machine. If you are coming to Florida, the beer is on me!

I only had to explain to my wife why there were two orders and the second one with the savings bottom line with tax was approx, $100 higher :)

Everyone who ordered (people in this thread) should be made aware of the huge news leaking today regarding the Intel bug. It's on the main page. It's also starting to break in other news sources: Fortune (Intel and AMD stocks are being impacted) and Popular Mechanics. Still, the news is not on the main circuit. Stay tuned.

Just the news you need when you got a new iMac Pro a week ago - sigh. I wonder how much we Mac users will actually be affected in real performance terms? Makes the iPhone battery issue completely trivial.

Thanks very much! I have been using flightradar24.com (and their iOS app) to track UPS flights. So far my tracking shows it is still in Shanghai and yet to clear customs there.

Looks like a busy flight tracking day tomorrow :). And as you said, hopefully the weather doesn't play spoilsport!

When does your return window close? I'm sure we'll be learning a lot more in the coming days.

return for refund is 30 days if you paid by PP

item not as described because CPU has design flaw ;)

I have an AMD system I built, and I honestly shudder to think at how finicky this would be. Maybe I'm way off, but I'm guessing every single point update is going to be a dice roll. I salute the effort, but I mostly just want to get my work done.

Hmmmm, now with this #KPTI issue (what a cock up) the performance degrade potential (some are saying as large as 20%) is something one has to contemplate. If macOS (Mach) is indeed affected this will cause a massive recall event for Apple. This is a real bummer and sincerely hope Apple announces something soon about a fix being needed or not and if a fix is required what the performance hit is likely to be, and not just for the iMac Pro but for all the other Intel-based Mac as well.

Getting back to the OP subject...
I ordered my CTO iMac Pro early AM on Dec 15 (10core/128GB RAM)/1TB SSD/Vega 64/KB/Mouse) and it's not even inline for manufacturing yet. That is, my iMac Pro has not even started to be built. I still have the opportunity to cancel my order at this time and save myself the issue of not being able to return a CTO machine. I believe CTO Macs cannot be return (Please correct me if this is incorrect). I will give it another day to see how this #KPTI issue plays out and if there's no additional info I will be cancelling my order. :(

I wonder if Apple has a shortage of the 32GB ECC RAM modules ?

Surely, Apple will alert us publicly ASAP whether their Intel-based Macs are affected with this Intel boo-boo. This is such a big concern for all of us, and Apple cannot in good conscience leave us hanging fire on this.

The #KPTI issue fix in 10.13.2 presumable just adds some Context Switching overhead which should be a minimal impact to performance and most of us will not notice it as it likely adds some extra microseconds to the overall wall time for applications to complete as before.

Don’t worry, you can return CTO Macs.
Thanks for the confirmation.
