Wife just alerted me this morning that she almost had a heart attack when she saw the credit card balance. She immediately went into fraud prevention mode until she saw what the culprit was.

I believe she had a $4000US figure I’m mind when I told her I was going to do this a few months back.

Looks like I survived the forgiveness phase.

It’s only half an hour or so away from me, and I won’t get it until the 28th!! NOOOOOO!!!

I would assume it will the 26th. Apple still keeps telling me the 28th. But my UPS tracking tells me adjusted delivery date of the 26th.

I have departure scans from Louisville, KY this morning at 2:54 AM and then the tracking stopped. It probably is within miles from me now. Typically it's only 2 hours from KY. Soooo close ...

I even called UPS to see if I could pick it up today at the local center. Not possible. Only if it would have been shipped with Saturday delivery it would allow pick up today or would deliver. UPS Express Critical for premium dollars would deliver on holidays. All others have to wait until Tuesday.

While I had small hopes to show up before the holidays, I am glad that the UPS employees actually are off for two days and can enjoy the holidays.

I assume your FedEx shipment will be similar.

Happy Dance here too!

I'm with you on this. I've been in Germany during a national holiday (Whit Monday) and to see the businesses, even retail, shut down on a Monday, almost every building shut down, but with families walking and holding hands and enjoying the day, that was a real treat that I didn't expect in the middle of a city.

You all are going to shake your heads and think I'm an idiot, but I went out with the wife to do some errands and missed my delivery.

Won't be re-attempted until Tuesday. Unless I go to the FedEx depot before 5pm (when they close the gates) and wait for the truck to return (6:30pm approx).

Looks like I'll be spending my evening at FedEx. Wife is telling me "you didn't expect it until the 28th anyhow".

Humbug.

That happens to me all the time...I actually decided to schedule it for pickup now for when it arrives on the 28th or whenever. Basically, it'll stop at UPS in the early morning & I can stop by right away & pick it up, rather than wait around for a 6am-11pm scheduled drop-off where the UPS guy may not even make it, & 1/4 the time, he dumps his load off in the next city & we get delayed 2 more days as it has to back to Sacramento, then to our city again. It's not the worst, at least.

What a bummer...
In a case like that when it says "out for delivery" you simply have to stay home and wait regardless of what time frame the delivery is stated for.

Understood, but I had committed to the wife that I'd go out with her.

Take that old proverb "Happy Wife, Happy Life" and mix it in with a little "I got lucky she didn't explode when she saw the credit card bill" and I really didn't stress out over this. There are bigger things to worry about. Yes, I'm annoyed but these are 1st World Problems.
[doublepost=1514063102][/doublepost]Now she's making fun of me. Dog was barking at something outside the window, and she's saying to the dog in a soft pretty voice "What is it? Is that the FedEx driver?" LOL.

I think a lot of us feel your pain!! Hope you get it ok today but it will make Christmas a pain for you - family will want your time and you have a shiny new iMacPro - difficult times. I’m glad mine says delivery the 27th December

You all are going to shake your heads and think I'm an idiot....

If it makes you feel any better, FedEx seems content shipping mine all over the world for fun.
Shanghai->Narita->Incheon->Anchorage->Oakland->Memphis.

Got excited when it went to Oakland, hoped maybe it would be part of a regional sort and not have to make the journey to the Memphis HQ. Still hope that they at least do a final flight of the night from Memphis->Seattle so it is local for delivery post-holidays.

I'm joking here..... but if I were to get my iMacPro today or even Dec 24 I'd unbox it, place it outside in a covered spot, connect power, boot it up, setup an account, use Terminal to create a shell loop to execute Geekbench 4 repeatedly and return to it on Boxing day or maybe even wait until Dec 27th to check on it. That would be one test for the cooling system design out of the way, right ? .... and leave plenty of time for the holiday period with family and friends etc.:D:p;):):apple:

May The Mac Be With You. Happy holidays and a Merry Christmas.

Been there, done that, with UK's ParcelFarce (sorry, ParcelForce). The place I used to live, for nearly 2 years they never managed to find the house (don't ask) so every "delivery" I had a two hour round trip to collect, in rush hour traffic as the package wouldn't be back at the depot till then, and it was always touch and go whether it was actually back before they shut the office and threw me out. At least it looks like FedEx do know how to find your place!

On a happier note, about an hour ago, some 38 hours since it cleared export checks, mine has finally had its departure scan. Woohoo! Now I just have to hope that it stays with UPS all the way to my door, and they don't hand it over to ParcelFarce when it hits the UK...

Could be worse - at least it's in the right country! :D

Excellent! You recovered it well. Better in your safe hands than a depot for the next few days.

So... BLACK STICKERS!

Am I right in thinking this is only the second product to ship with them (the other being the Mac Pro 2013), or am I blanking on something?

Yes, black stickers. Not sure what the original black MacBooks shipped with.

The 2006 model, where there was a "tax" where you paid extra over the white plastic?

I had one of those, and I think I'm superficial enough to remember if it did. (I don't collect them, but I'm pretty sure I still have original 1980-90s era six color stickers somewhere.)

I don't recall the exact pricing but the Black Macbook was maxed out on CPU and I believe it was the same price as the white MB with the same specs.

In our case, I was buying broken MBs on Craigslist, frankensteining parts together or recovering them from spills (I would take them apart and spray the motherboards with nasty electronics cleaning sprays) and put them back together, buy replacement LCDs for $95 and install them, etc. I made a black MB for my youngest daughter, a white one for my mother, and sold a couple to friends at just above cost ($400 each).

This. This is how you get a sense of achievement. Not this dropping $7K on a credit card and having state of the art delivered to you on a plate! ;)
See, I can have it both ways.

BTW, I'll pay this off in full. I had a very good ride at my last employer and this was a way of patting myself on the back. :)

So I’m rolling the dice, and hoping I can buy a basic 8 core in store earlier than getting one shipped to me at this point.

The weird thing is, it says store pickup is unavailable for the baseline model across the board. If I change even one component, it gives me a date around Jan 5th.

Any idea why that would be? I’m sure the basic model will show up in store at some point, along with some of the more popular recommended ones.
