My custom iMac must be enjoying an old world tour of Western Europe. Today alone he visited Shannon, Ireland, took a drive to check out Dublin, then must have gotten bored and hopped on a flight to Cologne, Germany, where he’s currently at.

This thing is going to amass more FF miles in a week than I have in the last six months (thanks, Covid). August 19 can’t come soon enough, I tell you!
Only a couple more stops to go...next up he'll enjoy France, then the grand finale in London before jetting to the US of A. Mine came in via Kentucky, where it is currently catching up on some sleep. I hope it is getting plenty of rest, because it's got work to do on Monday when it gets here to Virginia. :)

France, you say? Ooh la la! Soon he too will be enjoying a rest in a Louisville. I wonder if from that point the delivery date will be more accurate or if the date it’s telling me now this far out will stick. My RAM sticks from Crucial arrived today so I’m getting antsy haha

Super cool assister! That's an ideal set up. How do you envision the VESA system will look/work? Would love to see a photo of your workstation when set up.

I've always been a VESA guy. All of my EIZO/NEC monitors in the past twelve years are on the VESA arms. The amount of flexibility and mobilization the VESA arm provides is far more practical than the typical monitor stand does. I guess it may affect resell performance due to its rarity, but I've seen some people here in the forum are ordering this config. Once you go VESA, you never look back.

Does anyone maybe have an idea as to what that last message from UPS might mean? It also originally had a delivery date of August 19 but now just says In Transit.

It means "The shipment has departed a UPS facility and is on its way to the next (final) UPS facility. The shipment is moving." You might like this site that interprets all of those UPS statuses:

Appreciated! So it's just a relatively generic message. And I'm guessing they can't commit to the August 19 delivery date until the package is probably closer to its destination, so it just reverts to saying In Transit. The message just seemed a little odd, "the shipment will be forward to a UPS facility in the destination city," I mean, way to state the obvious, isn't that the gist of what you people sort of do? :p

Yay, arrived this morning in rural New Zealand's South Island, ordered 5/8 and originally said delivery 21-28/8. So plenty early. Every option but only 32Gb RAM.

The SSD is bonkers fast and the matte display is superb...

UPS said it will arrive on the 17th, delayed to the 18, and now it’s back to the 17th! Wahoo!

It’s been sitting in Louisville all day but it got a second “import scan” tonight so maybe it’s getting ready to depart. ??? Fingers crossed!

Wanted to order on Friday night (France) but money transfer didn't arrive in time on my account so I was only able to order on Monday and yet my card hasn't been charged and it's in processing and not yet ready to ship. My configuration is not even that much modified, only the SSD to 1To and different keyboard plus a trackpad

  • Standard glass
  • 3.8GHz 8-core 10th-generation Intel Core i7 processor, Turbo Boost up to 5.0GHz
  • 8GB 2666MHz DDR4 memory
  • Radeon Pro 5500 XT with 8GB of GDDR6 memory
  • 1TB SSD storage
  • Gigabit Ethernet
  • Magic Trackpad 2
  • Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad - French

Yet it's expected to arrive on 26 August, hopefully will come quicker since I've paid the extra 12€ for express shipping lol
I also ordered Monday (UK) and changes the Keyboard and to the trackpad I have the same expected date. I had no express shipping option though, ha.

FWIW, my iMac is stuck in China too and from my own personal experience importing items for my company from China at least 1/2 dozen times over the past few months, the shipment sits in one spot in China for 2-5 days then gets over here within 2-3 days via air shipment.

Really want one of the base models with a keyboard that has the number pad, but it delays shipping a couple weeks.

Has anyone installed bootcamp on a 2020 and knows what the AMD drivers are like? I went for the 5700 XT to kill two birds with one stone. I know bootcampdrivers.com is pretty good, once these get supported, but curious whether AMD provided fresh drivers for a fresh card, old drivers for a fresh card, or no drivers for a fresh card (as the AMD website doesn't have any obvious new driver available).

Darn UPS, getting your hopes up. ? That’s disappointing! I’m sorry!

Apple has always said the 18th for my delivery. UPS said the 17th and then adjusted to the 18th.

I keep checking for any movement.

Is yours still sitting in Kentucky? Mine is...

I'll be doing that tonight once I have finished off sorting out the OSX side. Trouble is, I now keep having to use my old 27" iMac without the nano texture screen and it's painful by comparison...

I have a question.
I have ordered the new (and my first) iMac with 8 Gb RAM and so I have ordered 32 Gb RAM and I will installed it myself.
Do I have to installed it in a specific order?
Thanks!

It depends. if you're going to keep the original 8 that came with it you'll want to put like size memory in consecutive slots. So slot 1 & 2 put both 4 or 16 & then in slot 3 & 4 put the other like pair> If not keeping the original then put in slots 1 & 3 or 2 & 4.

I ordered a custom iMac on the day of release. No big customizations. I bought the mid level & upgraded to 1 TB SSD & the numeric keyboard. Original delivery estimate, from Apple was August 19-21. When it actually shipped the delivery date changed to 8/14. A coupled of days before that the UPS site changed to "Rescheduled Delivery" and it's been that way since :(

I'm hoping that just means it will be delivered within the original date Apple provided. My computer is coming from China to California. Anyone else have this situation? How long does it normally take for UPS to post a new deliver date?
