target is still 8/21-28. I'm thinking closer to the 28th, was hoping for sooner.

I couldn't take it any more and gave in. Even though I knew I should leave it alone and not constantly check my order status, that in the grand scheme of things this wait is nothing and that I should just let it run its due course, and that nothing would come out of a chat with support, I reached out to support anyway to ask what's going on with my order. And as I expected, I got nothing. But at least I was given confirmation, for whatever it's worth, that there isn't some random issue showing up on their end that's holding up the order. I was given the mantra, "it's in high demand and it will ship soon." Of course, I have to take all that with a grain of salt since there were many telling signs in the conversation that the rep was reading from a script and not listening to any background details I was giving them.

As much as I know I need to be patient, at this point this feels like when you go to a restaurant and order food to go, while you're waiting everyone else that came after you got their order even though their order looks almost the same or more complicated than yours. So you go up to the counter to check what's happening with your order just to make sure they didn't lose it, because that's possible and if it is what happened then they won't know unless you ask. But of course in this case it's very unlikely the order was lost, but maybe it got stuck in some queue for some reason that needed someone to look into and clear up.

Anyways, I really need to stop checking my order status since it's just going to keep driving me crazy. I know it will eventually get taken care of and shipped, but I can't help but keep checking.

I totally get it. I ordered on the 5th and it’s still processing. You aren’t alone. It’s driving me nuts.

Aye, add me to the August 9 people. Still in processing - but the free Airpods are here. Whee.
I really wish I hadn't been so quick to list my Late 2015 iMac for sale. It sold already and I have another two-three weeks before the new iMac shows up.
Self goal :/

Does anyone know what happens when you promise Apple a trade-in and then do not deliver?

tbh I couldn't agree more, it's been like only 4/5 days and I'm already feeling liek it's been an eternity
In my case, today is day 10 since I placed my order (placed it on the 5th). But I agree I really need to just chill and focus on other things. And it's not like there aren't other things to focus. Easier said than done though.

My BTO just got delayed. Original ship date was August 20-27, but now its September 2-10.

My system was just upgraded to "preparing to ship," although it still shows a delivery date between Sept. 2-10.

I know I'm splitting hairs here -- but for those that went from Processing -> Preparing to Ship and were refreshing often enough to have a good idea of the time of day that happened, when does that usually occur?

I’m ashamed to admit, I check last thing each night and first thing each morning. But FOR SCIENCE, I’ll let you know it switched from “processing” to “preparing shipment” some time between midnight and 6:30 AM eastern time. Yeah, I don’t get enough sleep...

For me it was sometime between last night (CA time) and this morning. That's as granular a I can get.

I have a new status under processing. Instead of the usual, "We have everything we need for your order", I now see:
"As soon as the item is ready, we’ll send you an update." Progress?
