Just a headsup, eBay has pulled 90% of the unlock listings, but they seem to only attack results on the first page. Unlock_fusion is deep in the results, so they haven't been affected. eBay is saying that since unlockers don't own the content, they're not allowed to make digital copies of unlocks. It's a weird thing what they're doing.

Cant find anything for Unlock_Fusion on ebay for Iphone unlocks. Is there a separate place I need to look?

Paid to have unlocked and now when I check it says SIM lock status: currently unavailable. What does that mean. I have unlocked a few in the past and it either said locked or unlocked. Any info is appreciated.

It's saying that he's away until the 17th and can't purchase an unlock on his ad. Last night it said the 15th. Most of his unlocks from his store are gone as well. Odd.

Those IMEI sites are sometime inaccurate, once unlock_fusion or whoever says your iPhone is unlocked, and you get the message in iTunes, it's unlocked.

Very curious ... which keywords were you using when searching? I've tried a few, but only receive a one page result. Very weird indeed.

Ok, just got word from our supplier a couple of hours ago: "Apple was updating their database today". For those that purchased unlocks from various unlocking web sites and were experiencing delays, don't worry, your order is still good.

All of our customers just received their unlocks about 2 hours ago. It seems that the express service was the only one truly impacted because of the delay.

We hope that helps any of those concerned out there. Happy unlocking!

Just did a new search and checked the profile as well, unlock_fusion as well as others are back up and running.

What does eBay mean by owning the content. Is it the images, wording, or what?

There was a service that used to allow us to activate an iPhone, purchased NEW, out of contract (branded for AT&T). All it required was the IMEI and the phone number tied to an AT&T SIM card. That service has gone away, for whatever reason.

Individuals who successfully factory unlocked those iPhones, without the above service, when attempting to finish the process were presented with: "Activation Required" or 'SIM card is not for correct carrier". However, the IMEI for the iPhone remains unlocked in Apple's database, that's permanent.

Question: Does anyone know if it's possible to purchase a new iPhone (AT&T), out of contract, and use a registered GoPhone SIM card to "activate" the iPhone on AT&T's' network?

Once it is activated, then the individual may unlock it using any of the online services.

The GoPhone SIM and service will be legitimately purchased and activated, but the iPhone, again, will be brand new with no contract.

Note: The iPhone can be used with the GoPhone service, we've done it plenty of times. We just haven't purchased a new iPhone and tried it as described above. Thanks.

Update: Here's clearer explanation cheaper to unlock a brand new iphone?

I need some help.. I bought an used iPhone 4. The guy said it isn't locked but I found out the hard way that it is locked until April 13th 2013.

I checked gsmliberty and it costs 38€ to unlock the imei... And the website is pretty confusing, I'm on the homepage and I chose Apple as manufacturer, iPhone as model but what carrier do I choose? The one it's locked on, or the one I'm using? Then after clicking the button that appears, I get to a new screen where I need to input the imei and choose another carrier. Again, which one I need to put there?

Are there any cheaper places to check? I'm from Finland if that matters.. And I don't know what carrier the phone is locked to :(

Or could I ask the guy who I bought the phone from, to call the carrier and ask them to unlock it? Is that even possible?

I need help asap, because I don't have a phone to use atm, because when I got the microsim today, they terminated my old sim lol

You need to select the carrier the phone is locked to. If you dont mind, private message me, I can tell you which carrier to select. We do this all the time, but I can squeeze a favor in.

Ok, just finished some research on my own question. Apologies if this is too long for most:

Purchasing from Apple's web site or store:

iPhone 5 (16GB) - AT&T - 2 year contract required, costs: $199
iPhone 5 (16GB) - Contract free and unlocked, costs: $649

Apple's web site clearly and specifically states the following regarding the $199 iPhone 5: "AT&T Account, 2-year contract required".

Taking that into consideration, if you purchase the $199 iPhone 5, enter into a contract with AT&T and thereafter cancel your contract with AT&T in order to unlock the iPhone and use it with T-Mobile, for example, you will pay an Early Termination Fee (ETF), plus other fees that will total in EXCESS of $600. This does not take into consideration the frustration factor of paperwork, phone calls, etc., etc.

All things considered, using the above scenario, it will be cheaper for you to purchase an iPhone 5 contract free and unlocked rather than the other option.

The obvious: If you purchase an iPhone 5 contract free and unlocked, there will be no need to use an unlocking web site service at all as the iPhone will already be factory unlocked.
