Reading through this thread, it looks like unlock_fusion is the way to go.

I have a couple questions as I've never had an unlocked phone before. I currently have an iPhone 5, firmware 6.0, with AT&T service. In my area, Verizon offers LTE, but sadly AT&T does not. I want to pick up LTE, so I figured I can do this by unlocking and getting a iPhone 5 Verizon LTE SIM card, correct!?

If so, where can I purchase such a card? Do I need to have my iPhone firmware updated to the latest firmware via iTunes?

Nope, not correct.
If you have an AT&T iPhone 5 it cannot be used on verizon at all.
Just gsm networks. No sprint or verizon.

AT&T service

Hey guys just been reading through the thread, just like to say we offer the AT&T iPhone unlock service. We were using eBay and got pulled as stated previously by another poster earlier.

We have our own website and were founded in 2011, we have unlocked over 20,000 handsets since last year. AT&T never takes longer than 24 hours for us usually done in around 12 hours. Blacklisted handsets are supported for the same price. Current price is £2.99 on an offer but we have made a 10% coupon code for macrumours users also, coupon is macrumour10 and is 10% off on top of the sale price.

We also support all different types of iPhones and different models.

Bulk orders are welcome, site is www.unlocking professionals.net any more info needed let us know :)

Thanks! Sad day. Verizon is the only company in my state that offers LTE. :'(

Is there any way to piggyback Verizon's LTE somehow?

Sucks man.
There's no way with that phone. It doesn't have the radio bands inside to connect to Verizon's LTE network. And there's other hurdles like verizon will never activate it on their network cause its another carriers iPhone.
Just sell it and pick up a verizon i5 instead.

Thanks for the quick replies! I'm currently grandfathered in with AT&T's unlimited data, but usually don't use over 2GB's anyways. The second day I had my i5, I went out of town to Indiana and experienced the heavenly speed of LTE, but when I arrived back home I was sadly let down. :( Decisions, decisions ...

Hello,

I have a iPhone 3GS which is locked to AT&T. It's bought from China grey market and never used with AT&T sim/network. It's been jailbreaked&unlocked from very beginning with Pwnagetool/Ultrasn0w software. Now is it possible to do a permanent IMEI based unlock to this phone without AT&T sim card ?

If it is locked to AT&T yes it is, scan through this thread to find a good grey market IMEI unlock vendor.

Thanks, but nearly all of the sites claim that after they had done their stuff, you are instructed to activate/restore the phone in latest iTune version with the AT&T sim card ?

Only for non-jailbroken devices.
Jailbroken devices don't have to restore, they can either use SAM from cydia or redsn0w to deactivate the device after the IMEI unlock has processed and than connect tto itunes to let the unlock attach.

Allegedly on 6.x also putting in a SIM from a different carrier after the IMEI proccessing wil attach the unlock.

Does unlockfusion usuallly take a long time? Its been 12 hours for me. I know it says within 24hrs but seeing some of you getting your phones unlocked within 2hrs makes me feel like I have been waiting a while

EDIT: just check the status and it says this
Order not delivered yet. Status: Processing

According to the law, you can still get non-carrier sanctioned unlocks (IMEI for example) on iPhones that were purchased BEFORE the 26th right?

If that's the case, my family's launch day devices should be exempt right in case they or whoever purchases their phones ends up unlocking it down the road by their own means?

safe site

I've updated the list with 5 services now:

cutyoursim.com 4/5 stars: On the expensive end($145), but I've heard few scam stories.

gsmfather.in 3/5 stars: Terrible customer service, success is random, and refunds take months to process at times. Also, AT&T has relocked IMEIs in some cases for bad accounts, and they will not refund you.

attiphonesunlocked@gmail.com 1 count in support of the unlock, done in 48 hours for $50.

officialiphoneunlock.co.uk/ $108, 1-2 days stated time, many positive reviews from Google, some negative reviews, owner posts here.

Skype: star_umair_2005 unlocked my iPhone 4 in 32 hours for $55.
Still safe to buy an imei unlock from any of these 5 sites?
Do they deliver what they sell?
Already read too much opinions and sites, but still have many doubts! :(
It looks like all sites are scam, and even assuming some are not, seems like others try to make them look like being scam, by writing in every forum!
Thanks for your answers.

Edit: btw, the phone is an iPhone 4S Verizon, iOS 5.1.1, firmware 2.0.12

I just unlocked my phone here:

Unlock Any AT&T iPhone for $10

Took a couple hours, I got a message that the unlock is done and to restore using iTunes. I restored my iPhone and iTunes came up with a screen that said Congratulations, my iPhone is now unlocked.

Be patient.
He will come through.
If it says 24hrs then dont start worrying at 12.
He does them only once a day now.

I purchased a new iPhone 5 from a co-worker who opened contact with AT&T yesterday 1/30. Would these unlocking sites still work?? I'm looking to ship it out of the country to a family member?

According to the new law, it is illegal to unlock it without the carrier's authorization if it was purchased under contract in the USA after January 26, 2013.

Although it would work to get it unlocked, USA unlocking sites will be breaking the law if they knowingly unlock an iPhone under these conditions.

To answer your question: Yes, it still works. You can still unlock your phone using those sites.

You didn't ask if it was legal or not right? So the answer is yes it still works.

It's still good to know the potential risks involved. Remember AT&T knows its phones and all associated IMEI numbers. Sure, it may get unlocked, but for how long? That's the kind of stuff we're interested it.
