My iPhone X displays messages in the correct order, but my 10.5" iPad still shows them out of order. It's frustrating to say the least.

Both of my devices are on iOS 11.2.6.

I’m on 11.3 beta 3 and still get messages out of order. I’m on an 8 plus
Ya I even just experienced where messages are completely out of order where I'd get a new message and then don't see messages just prior to what was sent and received and shows the messages from like an hour prior. very odd. Beta 3 iPhone 8 Plus

Well... I've not had the problem since I last posted that everything seemed OK once I'd upgraded to 10.2.6.

However... my wife has now reported the problem is re-occurring. I've not yet verified the iOS for the other party, so could be an older version causing the issue from the other user. Both users are on iPhone 6s.

People need to keep reporting this to Apple. Maybe with enough bug reports, they can find out where in the infrastructure this race condition exists and fix it.

Unfortunately I think iOS 11 has proven that bug reports do absolutely nothing anymore. Look at the pace by which Apple fixes (or just doesn’t fix at all) this bug, Reminders app, the calculator not working if you use it at normal speed, the weather widget bug, etc. No one should have any faith in Apple’s QA anymore.

What's wrong with Reminders?

Anyway, Apple already tried to fix this bug and failed, and based on the rate things are being fixed the OS appears to be too messed up. Hopefully for iOS 12 they're going in there and cleaning things up that they don't have time to do in these smaller updates. In fact, it's entirely possible that their focus is already on iOS 12.

this is really amazing that this bug still is befuddling apple's software engineers, we see it on all of our iOS devices in our house. 2 iPads and 3 iPhones

My girlfriend just mentioned to me that she is experiencing this issue. I showed her this thread and she said, "Oh so I am not the only one".

Amazing this over a month old well known bug is not fixed yet! Does next beta fix?

I believe the poster was trying to make a funny bit out of the issue.

It's good to make light of the situation. I think everyone on this thread is fed up with the bug - so a little light humour helps keep frustrations in check. :)

Let's face it - as annoying as this issue is - there are far worse things out there in the world!

That is so true! Let's be thankful that our iPhones, iPads, and iPods aren't quite as bug ridden as similar Android devices.

this thread itself is going on three months old, not sure when Apple came aware of the bug but they said they addressed it in 11.2.5

It went away for me for awhile and I thought one of the last few updates had fixed it but no, it happened to me again yesterday on my 10.5 iPad on iOS 11.2.6.

Same thing today iPad Pro on 11.2.6. Not sure that I ever had this happen on 11.2.5.
