Nice idea!

Best: 1993 Honda Nighthawk 750. Loved that bike, but eventually had to give it up. What a fun ride!

Worst: 1991 Chevy Blazer 4-door. I didn't need it and couldn't really afford it at the time, but had always wanted an SUV.

somewhere between here and there.
Hold on is this in relation to Apple, or everything in general.

If it is in regards to Apple related then:

Best: 20" iMac g5 2.0 GHz rev B.

Worst: PowerBook G3 400 MHz Pismo. (not really a worst, however a month later they had a few updated minor specs and about 4 months later they had the PowerBook G4 Ti). <-- Still works like a charm, just wish I had the extra updated specs. :(

In general:

Best: All my shoes. :D

Worst: None really, since it was all a learning experience. :)

BEST: My ipod 4th gen (well, i sorta thought about it awhile, but if i had waited a day i could have gotten it $70 cheaper)

worst: This windoze laptop. I was going to get a refur 12inch powerbook, but i needed one fast as i was going out of town christmas morning and my mom didn't realize that $1500 is the same amount of money no matter howw you spend it.

This thing is huge and hot and heavy. In fact the batt was recalled a week ago, it does have dedicated graphics, but it is DX7, so CS:S and HL@ look horrible. But at least it is better than my 2.0 ghz celeryon i had before. I think i will get a mac mini this christmas, assuming then "officially" update them. I can use the government discount and get the top model.:p

Best: Powerbook G4 a few months ago
Worst: a lot of things, but probably my Ipaq
Dang! Impulse buying. It took me a 6 months to decide to buy mine. But, I have an iPaq (thats how the cool kids do it) and definetly worst desicion. After I switched to my laptop. No need for mobility, put ocntacts and calnedar on iPod. Literally no job for it lol.

Best impulse: (After two weeks, closest I come to impulse): Canon S70. Superb camera, highly recommended.

Best: Performa 575 I bought at Computer City - my first Mac (1st computer, ftm).
Worst: same. Wish I'd researched a little more and waited for the new PPC processor machines that came out a month later.

Worst: Both iPod Minis (1G and 2G...great mp3 players, but I had no use for them), Palm LifeDrive, CDs...

A hooker in Amsterdam could easily be BOTH the best and worst of impulse purchases.
wow your so right.. she was expensive (200USD) but she could suck a golf ball through a garden hose. while i was at it i thought "wow shes good.. must be all of that experience she has" then after i left i thought "wow she was good.. oh sh*t it must be because she has to much experience.

Ha, but aren't you glad you were able to help me leave Amsterdam?

...perhaps I have said too much.

Best: The 2006 Eclipse I bought this summer, when I just went down to the dealership because my 1997 needed a new transmission. I love that car. Also, I loved my *cough*700 dollar prom dress*cough* and the X-Files season 1 box set I just found on Amazon Marketplace for 40 bucks.

Worst: A bottle of Popov vodka, that crap tastes like rubbing alcohol.

I'd like to say the best was my PowerBook, but I researched the thing for months before I bought it. Also, I'm interested that so many people love their iPod Shuffle, just swayed me even more towards saving up for one.

Best: iPod Nano

Worst: Loads but most recently my currently on eBay PSP

Shadow

I have to agree on the PSP thing. Not that it is the worst piece of hardware I have, it is not. It is really cool and I marvel at it's looks and quality. It's just that I don't use it and it was completely am impulse buy at Circuit City. I have tried for the months I've had it to convince myself it was worth it, but I never use it anymore. It just sits in my desk drawer now. I might be sold in the near future as well.

Best: 4G 40 GB iPod. Sometimes I feel like I couldn't live without it.

Worst: Hard to say, probably my PSP. I have nothing against it, in fact I think it's one of the coolest gadgets I've ever owned, but I just don't have time to play many games, and I'm too poor at the moment to buy a bigger memory stick so I can watch movies on it. Maybe when GT4 comes out in January I'll start getting more use out of it.

BEST: 512MB mem stick off ebay.. maybe.
WORST: Just about everything else I've bought. :p

That is a point I'd like to make.. It's a scary thought when you add up all the money you spent on useless crap, though at the time it was cool I guess.

How 'impulsive' are we talking? Like, just walked into a store and purchased? Less than a week of thought? I'll just go w/ 'just walked in...'

Best: $30 Simple (that's the brand name) boots that are UGG-knockoffs ( but cheaper/ more comfortable than UGG's 'classic' sole; nothing beats UGG's 'ultra' sole).

Worst: $300 pair of heels from Agent Provocateur (they are DAMN sexy but not comfy enough to really wear out; I've only worn them 3 times since I got them last December).

Best: O2 XDA Mini II (aka, iMate Jam), PowerBook 12", iPod 4G, and Creative Muvo 4GB (I mean the inside, a 4GB microdrive, worth a lot for my digital camera)
Worst: Creative Muvo 4GB (I just throw away the case after I removed the microdrive  )
