What the heck is "VEGAN LEATHER." Sounds like a marketing term for PLASTIC.

From another website:

Vegan leathers include:

Vegetan: This is a microfibre material that is specifically designed and used as an animal-friendly leather substitute.
Lorica: This material is made out of several different microfibers. Sidi, an Italian motorcycle company uses it a lot.
Birko-Flor: This is what eco-icon Birkenstock uses. It’s made out of acrylic and polyamide felt fibres. There are two kinds — the kind you find on normal Birks and a kind that looks like pleather.
Birkibuc: Another Birkenstock baby. It’s made out of the same stuff, but looks and feels like nubuck leather.
PVC: Finally, a term you should be familiar with! Good for animals. Not so good for environment.
Kydex: This is an acrylic-PVC alloy. It’s produce by Kleerdex, a manufacturing company.

I put the code in for $6 discount, but it doesn't show up when checking out with paypal

The same thing happened to me. It doesn't carry the coupon over to the PayPal checkout. The coupon only works if you check out using their own store process.

Actually I just ordered the black one (after finding out that the grey one wouldn't be available until 'early April'). I paid through paypal. While it doesn't show the coupon on the paypal site (will list it as $39.99) if you continue, it will redirect you back to their site and it will show on that last page before you hit the confirm button. It took me a little while to see it but it does show up on that last page (it's in the top middle of the page).

So like I said, it's plastic. Not even in the leather "family." Leather is leather. Vegan Leather is an advertising term for a cheap copy but by using it instead of PVC or vinyl they can charge $60 for it instead of the $15 it's really worth.

vegan [ˈviːgən]
n
a person who refrains from using any animal product whatever for food, clothing, or any other purpose

leath·er/ˈleT͟Hər/

Noun:A material made from the skin of an animal by tanning or a similar process.

Sounds like a contradiction in terms.

Thanks for the heads-up. I ordered the Smart Feather. I was originally looking at single piece case, but I like how thin and durable the Smart Feather is. If I mess up the cover, I can just get another. A lot of appeal there.

Problem I had with it is the smart cover is the same price as a whole new Lexington. Not much appeal there. lol.

I ordered the Lexington. I just wish they had it in gray but black's cool too. I might get a cheap temporary case from eBay while I wait for this one to arrive.

Thanks for the coupon code, OP.

According to their posted specs, there is no difference between the "New" iPad Smart Feather and the iPad 2 version.. I'll wait to see if my current iPad 2 model fits before ordering another, although this is the best back case I've seen if you use a smart cover.

Both show specs:

Measurements

Length: 9.46 in (240.20 mm)
Thickness: 0.05 in (1.22 mm)
Width: 7.48 in (190.00 mm)
Depth: 0.39 in (9.85 mm)
Weight: 2.4 oz

this may sound dumb but does the feather case come with a smart cover'?

No but it does come with a clear screen protector...although the quality of this is TBD. Maybe someone else has had experience with their screen protectors.

Hi,

So if you want a case to protect the back of the new iPad that is compatible with the Apple Polyurethane/Leather cover, seems like the only choice is the feather?

Can anyone confirm?

From the Incipio line of products, yes....you need the Feather if you want to use your SmartCover with it.

But there are literally dozens of similar backs out there from other companies that also let you still use the SmartCover.

Their 4S protectors are awesome. I actually bought an extra pack of 3 in case I needed to change it but never had to. Looks and feels like the glass.

I'm not

Had this style of case for the first gen and when I sold it the iPad looked like I just bought it. Flawless.

I have always used a SP but I am going to buy applecare so im thinking about rolling the dice.

I think I'm going to go for the Kickstand, but I didn't see a place to put in the code -- is it after you put in your credit card info and hit "place order"?

There is a box on the left when you look at the cart to enter in the coupon code. The total then shows up with the discount.

Pre-ordered the black STM skinny from radtech. Same case I have for the iPad 2. Aug2011 promo code will get you 20% off. $36 shipped for me. Order says stock expected on the 28th.

Ordered the Lexington this morning.. was hoping for gray but the black was all that was available so oh well! Thanks for the discount code OP. :)

I'm very interested in this case but is anyone else cautious that the rear shell won't fit the new iPad? How is it that they know exactly the right shape and thickness of the new iPad before it was released? They didn't even make this model case for the iPad2 so it must be a new design.
