Can you fellas that got your new cases comment on how much or little bulk it adds to the back? Does it feel at all significantly larger? Heavier? How's the grip? What makes the Incipio a "Smart" Feather? Does it help with the on/off thing or is calling it "smart" for marketing? Also, how well does it "reinforce" the Apple Smart cover magnets? Any chance that the back cover will scratch the ipad where it snaps in?

Lots of questions, so thanks in advance.

There are some beautiful pictures here, and I am really considering doing the Incipio Feather and Apple Smart Cover combo. (I already ordered the Casemate Tuxedo but am now having second thoughts...)

I have a skinit skin on mine with the SF case...no issues. In fact, it works out great because it protects most of the areas the case does not.

Awesome, so the Smart Feather fits you are saying w/ a full body skin on the back? Do you have one on the front too?

It is really thin and light - can barely tell it's on and it. I'm not sure what is "smart" about it, other than it locks the Apple smart cover on - which I really like as the smart cover constantly came off on my wife's iPad 2 which led to picking up a different case. Not sure what you mean be reinforcing the Apple Smart cover magnets as it doesn't get in the way or cover anything that the smart cover comes in contact with. Haven't noticed any scratches, but it's only been a day and a half.

It doesn't feel significantly heavier or thicker, but I'm upgrading from an iPad one so it still feels thin to me. It's got a rubbery of feel to it, but is still smooth and not too "grippy". What makes it a "smart" feather is that you have to use an Apple smart cover with it.

I'm not sure what you mean by help with the on/off thing. If you you are asking about the auto sleep/wake function that third party covers are having problems with, this uses Apple's cover so it's not an issue. If you your asking if you can remove the smart cover with the case on, no you can't, it locks it to the iPad. That answers your question about reinforcing the smart cover magnets. It will also keep the magnets from scratching your iPad since you can't take the smart cover on and off. I don't think the smart feather will scratch the iPad unless you take it on and off a lot, which I don't plan on doing.

Yes. no, none on the front...it came with a screen protector but it arrived creased and therefore useless.

Just purchased the Smart Feather made for Ipad2

Found a black smart feather for iPad 2 at walmart and fits pretty good and will work! The camera hole is of a lil bit but does not cover any of the actual camera lens. Glad I fond this thread because could not find anything where I am at except for the Targus slim fit which didn't work turning my new iPad off and on. Saw plenty of the same complaints on the web.

Does the Smart Feather hold the smart cover in place when it is folder over the back? Or does it still flop around?

Purchased the Incipio Premium Kickstand

Just got it at Walmart for $30. It's for the Ipad2 but seems to hold real nice and snug on the new IPad. Sorry to bump the post.

Here you go. It's a little darker than what I would have liked, but I had already bought a navy smart cover and didn't think the black would look as good with it.

Wow that looks pretty good. I might just get that to go with my dark gray smart cover.

I have a gray smart cover and ordered that same one that CVC got about an hour ago... Hoping it matches pretty good. All they have is that gray and pink in stock... blue and frost are available for preorders.

Just bought a black smart feather for iPad 3 on amazon. Gonna use it with my black smart cover. Very excited! Just sucks that there is no magnet on the back. I have the white iPad, I think having a black case and black smart cover will look classy with a white iPad.

I really, really like the look and idea of this case and have been wanting to purchase it. Only thing holding me back is the amount that is exposed on the top and bottom of the back of the ipad. Anyone with this case find this an issue?

That's the reason I went with the Belkin Snapshield Secure. Gives a little more protection on the top/bottom of the iPad. I posted pics in this thread...1st page , take a look. Only thing that's missing is the locking mechanism for the smart cover.

Good luck

Great combo :D

I am thinking I want the frost one and pair it with the black leather smart cover. Anyone have this combo?

I sort of like the look of the iPad back with the logo showing. The SGP ones have the Apple logo cut out which is nice, but I like the fact that these secure the smart cover to the iPad.

Any thoughts and/or pictures would be greatly appreciated.

Well, I have an original iPad with a skin on the back. The original iPad has flat sides so they are uncovered and they look fine, no scratches at all. I am reasonably careful with it, but it has traveled with me quite a bit and looking at it right now I can't find any wear. I put it in an Apple dock every night and sometimes there's some hunting to find the connector. I'm amazed that there are no scratches on that side at all. After two years I got less and less careful how I docked it, sometimes sliding the iPad all over before I found the opening. There is only the slightest amount of wear on the edges of the opening.

Thanks for this. I think I may choose the Belkin instead as I specifically don't want a locking cover. There are other cases that look exactly like smart covers but also have a back protection (that don't cover the front bezel). However it would be good to be able to remove the cover easily to hold the iPad in any orientation.

So I think the Belkin for me...

I'd like to know if they changes anything between the 2nd and 3rd gen. If anyone gets a chance to compare I'd like to know. Maybe they adjusted only the camera hole? I picked up a 2nd gen today, but haven't tried it. I know everyone is saying they do fit just fine. Dimensions on the Incipio website are identical:

Measurements

Length: 9.46 in (240.20 mm)
Thickness: 0.05 in (1.22 mm)
Width: 7.48 in (190.00 mm)
Depth: 0.39 in (9.85 mm)
Weight: 2.4 oz

Anyone have a hard time getting it to snap on all the way? My bottom left corner won't snap on enough to stay put.

The iPad 2 case fits but creates slight gapping between the shell and the belly of the case, with minor lifting at both ends. If you keep everything clean, no problem- but if you let dirt and dust get in there you can look forward to a scratched aluminum case, sooner or later.

Camera alignment is slightly off but there's no vignetting.

As a temporary holdover until the model-specific Smart Feather is released, the older model case should be fine. I'm using one until I get to Japan later this week where I'll likely pick up either the new model Power Support Air Jacket case or Tunewear eggshell case (which, even with the inflated yen, is about 30% cheaper than the ones sold here).

Well, I can't get mine to fully snap onto my new ipad. Kind of unfortunate because I like the case. I can get it almost all the way on, but can't get one last corner to snap on.

Can anyone comment on whether the Apple Smart Cover "locks" into place when it's opened and on the backside of the iPad with the Incipio Smart Feather case?
