Can anyone comment on whether the Apple Smart Cover "locks" into place when it's opened and on the backside of the iPad with the Incipio Smart Feather case?

If you mean sticks (magetically) to the back with the smart cover completely flat on the back, then no it doesn't.

That is correct it does not

I am having second thoughts about this case, although I like the slim feeling of the combo it does feel like its very fragile. (If that makes sense to anyone )

Thanks for the quick response ScubaC and Str8buc. I ask because this video concerns me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5X37RgKuN_U&feature=youtu.be

I think what the video highlights would annoy me to no end. Unfortunately, it seems like most thin smart covers/cases are like this. Not sure if I have much of a choice...

I wasn't aware everyone sits the same exact way. Ever hear of lounging? ;)

Anyway, I'm mainly concerned about the flap when it's opened and turned to the back. Makes it look cumbersome to hold the iPad when not using it on a table.

Wait, so is this the NEW Belking Snap Shield Secure... as in made for the new ipad? I was under the impression it wasn't out yet. The belkin website says "coming soon."

Do the Incipio Smart Feather colors match up exactly with Apple's smart cover colors? I'm asking especially for Navy, if anyone can comment specifically...

Yeah but he said he wanted to work so that means no lounging!!!

Quick question, will the smart feathers work with a skin installed such as a best skins ever? My first guess is it may not, but it thought I'd ask instead of assuming....

I sure am glad I decided to actually TRY IT OUT instead of going on what I and others thought...

Incipio Smart Feather for iPad 3rd generation works with a Best Skins Ever skin installed. It installed easy and doesn't seem to bow or flex or anything.

Note:
  • I've had the Smart Feather for all of thirty minutes, so no idea about long term interactions with the skin.
  • I bought the black one, a translucent might show "watermarking" or whatever the term is for when the skin is against a clear case in some spots and not others. I don't know if this will or will not happen.
  • No issues with fitment, clipped on easy, seems secure. Came off easy also.

EDIT: I'd also add that if you intend to take the Smart Feather off frequently you may not wish to do this. It appears the edge of the Smart Feather could potentially catch and lift the edge of the skin if removed frequently. No apparent issue when it's just on there, only the possibility when removing the Smart Feather.

Got my frosted today. I'm running a icarbons back with red logo underneath and it fits perfect - no stretching, just a simple snap on. The ends that are open are covered by the CF so I'm good all the way around. I'll hold off on the new Zum now, this works very well. It would be perfect if it was slightly more clear....

You need a clear back case to show the iCarbons. The frost case makes the skin look out of place.

I was thinking about the frost as well to go with the white icarbon like yours but not as clear as i wanted. Think i might go with a crystal clear case instead.

This is kind of a weird question, but, for those of you who own the case, how easily do you think I could cut off the smart cover locking part without ruining the case?

I'm interested in this case only because it seems to be the thinnest and lightest, but I still want to easily be able to remove my smart cover at any time.

No problem whatsoever if you're good with a Dremel tool

Score and cut it
