Youtube not working

I just used the latest version if independence, and youtube isn't working. Before running it i did a restore to 1.0.2, then went through the whole process to get to a jailbroke 1.1.1. I have never sim-unlocked my iphone, because i am an at&t customer.

i see instructions for how to fix youtube on 1.0.x, but they don't seem to work on 1.1.1. any thoughts on how to fix it?

I finally forced the phone into recovery mode and restored it because iTunes wasn't recognizing the phone yesterday or this morning when I woke up. So when I re-did the 1.1.1 hack I used Independence 1.2.3. It went smoothly, even transferring AppTapp over was better. Initially 1.2.2 didn't activate YouTube but 1.2.3 did this time around. But yesterday I just used a YouTube script I had downloaded awhile back. But everything is fine and back to normal now. I only lost a few pictures I had taken with the phone. No big deal.

Is anyone else only getting around 61mb on AppTapp though?

Can you post a link to the youtube script? I have used 1.2.3 twice now, and both times no youtube.

Ok, I figured our that their censored URL was for rapidshare. I downloaded the file, ran it, it said it was successful, but still no Youtube.

The instructions reference /var/root/Library/Lockdown/activation_records. I do not have an "Activation records", only a "pair_records". Which do you have?

Would you be able to send me the contents of your /var/root/Library/Lockdown/ folder, including any and all subfolders? Thanks.

Koach,
Try this instead.

(1) Go to this URL, which downloads a ZIP that contains 3 files:
data_ark.plist
device_private_key.pem
device_public_key.pe

When you unzip it, you will actually have 2 folders with the same files mentioned above, but slightly different dates (don't ask me why). I used the files in the folder titled "theThreeFiles1 Folder"). These work just fine.

(2) SSH or FTP into your iPhone and go to:
/var/root/Library/Lockdown

(3) Replace the 3 files in that "Lockdown" folder:
data_ark.plist
device_private_key.pem
device_public_key.pem

with what you downloaded
(leave the folder "pair_records" alone).

That's it. I had the same problem as you and now it works just fine.

Let me know how this works for you. Good luck.

Confused here. You state that you "don't use the hacks" yet "they are messing my iPhone up."???????

If you mean that you installed them and want to UNinstall them, then just upgrade. Apple will get rid of them for you.

Which Apple firmware? If you are NOT using the hacks and want to get the latest firmware (as well as security & bug fixes) just update via iTunes.

What's the problem?

Please be more specific. More details.

unlocked sim with 1.1.1

Are all the people who used this method to update to 1.1.1, people who had an ipsf unlock?

And is it possible to reverse the http://modmyiphone.com/wiki/index.php/IPhone_unlock_OS_X_Part_1
method yet.

Just curious.

Yep, works fine! Updated to 1.1.1 with independence, downgraded back to 1.0.2, re-unlocked with freesim 1.6, upgraded to 1.1.1 again and activated with independence. All back to normal, but havent got 3rd party apps on - may well work, too.

Sorry to hear that. It looks like there have been some issues beforehand, because those files shouldn't do that as well as that is exactly the files I used for mine.

I would recommend doing a restore first, then following the iNdependence guidelines going BACK to to 1.02 and then to 1.1.1, etc. from there. Basically, starting over.

After that, I would BACKUP copies of these and any other files you would replace just to make sure this doesn't happen again.

Yay It Worked!!! I Trieds A Number Of Times With No Success But Finally I Got It.

Right after writing this I tried to restore to 1.1.1, and had a lot of trouble. My phone would not go into recovery mode, and itunes would not see the phone. it was very scary, i thought it was bricked. i finally got it to install a clean 1.1.1. I'm going to try the process again now. it seems stupid to try it again seeing as how i almost bricked it, but here goes nothing

Trying this now, wish me luck.

after going through the same process, it now works! it seems like i had to have 1.1.1 on there first, then go to 1.0.2, then back to 1.1.1. starting at 1.0.2 then going to 1.1.1 didnt work.

Yeah, when I went straight from 1.0.2 to 1.1.1 using Independence it worked fine, it just didn't activate YouTube. But then when I got AppTapp to show up I installed something and my music and videos were missing in the iPod, but the space was still being taken. The actual iPod app wasn't functional at all. I couldn't click on playlists, artist etc. iTunes wouldn't recognize the phone and I waited it out over night to see if it would just change for me but it didn't so I had to force the phone into recovery mode and downgrade then back to 1.1.1. Everything is completely fine now. :)

works like a charm

works like a charm if unlocked with IPSF, however the previous Caller ID fix will make your iPhone unusable, so you will have to restore 1.0.2 and start all over again. if someone knows how to fix the Caller ID issue on 1.1.1 please post the solution.

wen i activated my iphone using independence the phone number doesn't show on itunes or on the iphone =( is there anything to fix this? I did not unlock cus i am using AT&T

Reboot the phone and the computer. I had this happen on a restore I did months ago, and this happened. Rebooting both seemed to fix the issue.

i used ipsf to unlock and upgrade to 1.1.1 but im wondering how do i uninstall the SSH and other things independence installed as i don't need them anymore and have no intention to start adding in extra applications at the moment. At the moment my iphone just as all the standard apps associated with 1.1.1
