To clarify, the TV App supports much more then iTunes but I recommended you check out WatchAid which seems to do everything the New TV App does and more (like support for Netflix). I believe the InFuse App supports Trakit and so does WatchAid (at least in the iOS Version) but not sure about their ATV App. You may want to check with the developer. I do not use Trakit so not sure of the options. Maybe that would be a way to have 1 App for everything.
Not sure what Trakit has to do with it. What I would like to see from the TV app is a global watch list and new episode tracker that works across all sources of video, including streaming services, purchased iTunes content (both local and in the cloud), and local non-iTunes content. Trakit cannot do that

WatchAid does most of that. IE. Hulu, Netflix, CBS All Access, HBO and most of the Cable TV Apps that Apple TV App supports. I do not use Trakit. My understanding is that the video content episodes in Infuse (this topic) can be managed by Trakit via InFuse. And WatchAid can get that from Trakit (I assume) based on your login id and I assume present it along with the other content.

Still doesn't cover iTunes purchases or local content. The (in theory) great thing about the TV app is that it is potentially able to interwork with everything that has an ATV app, not just streaming services you can link to. Of course, in practice it requires support by those apps (and I haven't really looked at Apple's API, so I don't know if it can technically cover all the use cases mentioned above).

I does support iTunes TV Content like The Walking Dead S7 that I recently purchased. When New Episodes are available they will appear in the WatchList. But not local content since it is not supported normally. Remember this App just internally links to the App that actually streams the video. In the case of iTunes it is the TV App. It just creates the Universal TV WatchList. This is pretty much the same as I "expect" the New TV App will work but maybe better. The reason I brought up Trakit because both InFuse and WatchAid support it for Tracking Shows. Maybe a Infuse could maintain the list and WatchAid could integrate it. This last part with Trakit I have not tried.

How does that work? Given that iTunes doesn't support Trakt or similar, I don't see how it could extract the information which shows I own or have season passes for?

How exactly does that link work? I don't see any information about that on their support page, except that they can import from Trakt.

The problem with Trakt is that you have to somehow populate it first with the shows you're interested in, and then it only knows the air date but not when shows actually become available on services like Netflix (or does it?). What I want is an app that can aggregate the watch lists from different apps that I use in one place.

You misunderstood my point about TRAKIT. I do not use TRAKIT. WatchAid does not require TRAKIT. Again, I only brought it up because of Infuse Content that supports TRAKIT. Nothing else. Not Netflix, Not iTunes, Not Hulu. Nothing else uses TRAKIT.
Like the Apple TV App, WatchAid keeps try of pretty much everything else. I am assuming it gets the information from some available TV Guide Source on the internet. It does not require cooperation from any of the Apps like Netflix.
I have nothing to do with the company. I am just telling you it works and it is extremely easy to test and cost zero to test since it is voluntary donation. I have another standalone post hear where I give more detail. But again, you can find out yourself in less then 15 minutes.
If you want to try, just download the WatchAid App then go into search for content and pick one that you have a iTunes Season Pass for and add to your watch list and show episodes. Then pick an Episode and you will get a choice of how to watch it and one will be iTunes for 2.99 which you would select but since you own it, it will not cost anything to watch. For shows on Hulu and Netflix it works the same. You select it and it gives you an option to watch it and one will be Hulu (SUB) or maybe the NBC App and you pick the one you want. I always pick Hulu in that case because I have the no commercial option. I also have CBS All Access with no commercials and it works the same. I have not found anything that I watch from any regular App that it does not support. I assume there are some but I have not seen it. Again, this is very much like the Apple TV App but maybe better.

I'm confused. Are we talking about the same service (trakt.tv)?

But that also means it has no way to know what's e.g. on my Hulu or Netflix watch list. When they presented the TV app at the keynote, it looked like the app is able to extract this information automatically from supported apps.

Well, I don't really want to manually populate and maintain another watchlist. That's what I was hoping the TV app would do for me based on the watchlists in the individual apps that I use ...
Thanks, I'll take a look at it.

Yes. I have been talking about trakt.tv. But since there is still confusion use should probably drop it since it seems I am not able to explain the reason I brought it up (only related to InFuse). If still curious please re-read my prior post.

Yes, you would need to do a one time transfer of your WatchList from you various applications into either WatchAid or the New Apple TV App assuming either one has all the support you need.

For me it did not take long. The only Watchlist that I felt was good was the Hulu Watchlist. The My CBS, HBO are pretty useless. The Netflix is not bad. But the problem with Hulu is that my wife and I had to share it since it does not support user profiles like with Netflix. Since WatchAid is tied to our personal iCloud ID then we can have our personal Universal WatchList that includes all of them (HULU, CBS, NETFLIX, HBO etc). If you have no problem sharing your WatchList that is not a concern for you. It did not take long for me to add my Hulu Watch List of maybe 10 shows. The My CBS List of maybe 8 shows and my Netflix of only a few current shows. I also only added WestWorld from HBO but did not add GOT since it is currently no on so can wait. I will add more as I go. To be clear to add a show with voice assist is very fast. Also, I am only talking about TV Series. Not Movies. The idea of the Universal WatchList is when a show because available from ANY of your sources they show up and after you watch them they go away.

I don't think that is accurate. It looked like the TV app utilizes a new API or framework that allows it to access watch lists and available content from cooperating apps automatically without the user doing anything (similar to how Siri can now search content from cooperating 3rd party apps). It's not the same as managing another independent playlist. Rather, it automatically aggregates the existing playlists and content and makes it accessible in a central place.

You could be right but I do not think we will know until it is released. However, I hope you are wrong if they do not use User Profiles like with Netflix. And as you know Netflix has not committed. I think 1 Universal WatchList for the entire family it not what most people I know want. Of course the TV App could create a WatchList by iCloud ID or some other method like WatchAid and for me that would be good. Also, to be clear not every App even has a WatchList to Aggregate so all Apps would have to adhere to a new method for managing their WatchList.

Yes, Netflix apparently not participating is a major bummer. I hope they'll reconsider.

I don't think the app will have multi-user capability (Apple has never supported this on Apple TV or iOS).

Exactly. But WatchAid does. I will certainly give the TV App a try and if they do a good job I will switch because WatchAid may not last forever if the TV App does a good job. However, if Apple does not open the API to apps like InFuse or in my case my DVR then that content will never be supported. Again, the reason I brought up trakt.tv which is supported by WatchAid and InFuse now. But again, I have not used trakt.tv so no idea if it will work well.

Hello everybody!
I`m just going my first steps with using Infuse (free version) to learn more about its possibilities.
What I recognized is: it denies to play some of my .avi-files with the advice to use Infuse pro therefor.
First I thought this comes due to AC3 audio in this files - but these files are with stereo compressed audio like MP3.

So I`m a little concerned now: are avi containers a general issue for Infuse - or will it work at least with the PRO-version then?

Vulgaris

Some video types require expensive license fees, and will require Pro.

They will play as expected after upgrading to Pro. :)

Implemente Infuse to play movies view photos from Cloud ( Onedrive, Dropbox), I will buy in a heart beat

@firecore
Sorry to bother again, but I have to stress my question for not playing avi`s again. I tried following: change the avi-container to .mp4 by Avidemux without a new recording the video track, but with converting the former MP3-audio to AAC, what works perfect with my other .mp4`s together with Infuse.
But: this result doesn`t work with Infuse (free) neither - so the issue seems to be the video codec MPEG-4 in this file.

So again concernings if an upgrade to Infuse Pro would solve this problem: as far as I believed to understand there is no difference in free vs. pro in the supported codecs but only in AC3, subtitles and trakt-access.

I only want to be sure that`s worth for my special files situation to upgrade to Pro. Not to spend (ok., a little) money and
weren`t able to play my avi`s nevertheless.

Pro will play your original files, without having to change them. :)

So that leads to the conclusion that there ARE differences in supported video formats in the PRO version compared to free... Interesting.
