Convinced. Bought. ;)
But for this measure I expect urgently the possibility to use it also for fotos:D in near future!;)

The issue I reported before about the PC turning on automatically was fixed after a format and sending to technicians. I still haven't discovered what caused the beeps (probably some temporary hardware problem). They cleaned everything and installed 2 new HDDs. Right now I have no issues.

I noticed Infuse while reading a folder with a single video, doesn't show the folder, but the file itself, the one inside this folder. And this happens in iOS and ATV 4. Will this bug be addressed in the future?

And I have a technical question... I am still using a router that is not gigabit. However the only lags I experience (and this also happens with other players) is with Matroska lossless versions from Blu-rays.

For example, I have one here with multiple tracks and over 30 GB. First of all, it takes 20 seconds for the movie to start (this delay is not limited to Infuse).

And even then, if I fast-forward seconds or minutes, it loads the whole thing again. Much like the experience I had with old PlayStation games.

You know, that dreadful LOADING DISC that never ends...

You would say this is due to the router, yet here's the thing: I have a software here that tells me at most I use 7, 8 MB/s while accessing one file (this is the UL speed while sending data from the PC to the device reading/playing the movie. ATV wastes 8 MB/s, more than the iPAD, 6-7 MB/s).

The max UL speed from my PC to other device is 10 MB/s. It can't be any faster than that.

I measured this while using iOS apps and sending files from my PC to them.

Shouldn't that mean that if I purchase a gigabit router and achieve 30 MB/s (in the worst scenario), nothing will be any different? Because I am not even wasting 10 MB/s...

I am assuming no one here tried to use MakeMKV and generate a MKV-lossless from a Blu-ray... if one of you did, please tell me what is your experience while using ATV or even the iPAD. I feel this is also due to the CPU from the device that is playing the thing.

For instance, Infuse in ATV 4 plays some of these MKV-lossless-from-BDs almost as if they were in slow-motion, you can see the picture isn't 100% smooth.

I have no idea if this is caused by ATV (hardware limitation), Infuse or even the fact the router isn't gigabit (for the latter, the data being transmitted to ATV/Infuse isn't smooth because it needs a better router, meaning that Infuse isn't caching the data received as fast as it could since the router isn't fast enough. Does that make any sense?).

The problem reported above only affects these large files, it isn't affecting any other.

I mean, you can clearly see the difference while trying to open a 25 GB (lossless) version and the 2 GB 1080p rip widely available on the internet. The latter plays everywhere with no lag.

Regarding folders, we've found it's fairly commonplace for people to place videos (along with any supporting files like artwork, subtitles, etc...) into their own unique folders. So, instead of displaying a wall of gray folder artwork, Infuse will 'flatten' these folders and show them as playable items with full artwork.

With regard to network speed, the absolute fastest way to connect the ATV4 will be to use 802.11ac Wi-Fi. This will provide near gigabit speeds, which in our tests allow ~30GB lossless MKVs to start playing almost instantly. An ethernet connection also works ok, but since the Apple TV does not support gigabit speeds, the load times will be a bit longer.

Lastly, the upcoming version of Infuse will improve playback for some Blu-ray formats which (up until now) have seen very limited support in Infuse and other Apple TV player apps. These are big changes, which move Infuse closer to providing reference level playback quality for almost all formats. :)

We have a number of great new things in progress for release later this fall. ;)
When can we expect a new update?

When will nfs-shares be added to the updates?
This will shurely prevent many, many problems with buffer issues!

New home screen with 'Up Next' list
New for Apple TV is an awesome way to find something great to watch. The new Up Next list is made up of two sections - the first will show the items you're currently watching (in progress) and the second will show items that have been recently added.

So either way, it's $6.99/year for the newest version?

Is this new version able to update the metadata and new videos in library in the background?
The In-App Purchase is a subscription option, and the paid app is a one-time fee.

Unfortunately the Apple TV doesn't allow for background processes at this time. Sorry. :(

Can the settings (video sources etc.) from Pro 4 be imported into Pro 5?
Since Infuse 5 is a new app, your data from Infuse 4 will not transfer. However... Pro users running v5 will have their manual corrections (and many other things) synced to iCloud, so once you make a correction it will sync to other devices...and be restored automatically if you decide to replace a device.

Do we have to pay for the AppleTV app also? I have Infuse 4 Pro
also does it work with amazon cloud drive?
Infuse 5 is a new app, so it is a separately download.

Dropbox, Google Drive, and OneDrive are supported, but Amazon Drive is not yet available.

What is the new features on the video player for 5 on appletv? Only thing new on appletv app is cloud streaming? It doesn't look like there is much that was added that would make it nice to pay for the extras on AppleTV one or is there?

Hmm, I installed Infuse Pro 5 on Apple TV 4 and added several - only local - sources.
I also added iCloud sync.
Then I installed Infuse Pro 5 on my iPhone 6 and expected, that all local folders (with passwords, IP etc.) which I added in Apple TV should appear on the iPhone.
No, nothing already added folders appeared on the iPhone. :(
The iPhone app wants me to add these folders manually again.
Did I misunderstand the iCloud preferences sync?

Devices added on Apple TV will sync to iOS, though you may check the following.
  • Same Apple ID must be used on all devices
  • iCloud Drive needs to be enabled on all devices
  • iCloud sync is a Pro feature
