To be clear EFI can support BIOS if that compatibility mode exists in Apples EFI. Looking at a ioreg trace it may actually exist.
Do you have an XP disk? Ahh we need someone to try it...

Intel
Did any one noticed that in this pic a motherboard is messing along with a heat sink This is why it looks different from the iMac G5 w/ iSight

Who gives a ****. Seriously. Last time I checked most users don't leave the shell of their system open. As longas the freaking thing runs like a champ who cares.

Whether or not XP boots on the raw hardware, MS have announced that they are working with Apple on it.

I'm sure they are.. they want to sell as many copies of VPC as they can before someone figures out how to dualboot and/or Vista comes out.

The reason people are giving a rat's fancy on the insides of the Mac Intels is Apple's high demand for ascetics. If Apple loses details here and there who is to say whether other aspects of the business will follow suite?

Some observations since the death of PPC

We all tried to convince ourselves that "it didn't matter" that Apple was ditching PPC for x86, now we're telling each other that "it doesn't matter that the insides look like a mess", much like that of any other PC.

What next? "Yeah, it's slower and buggier, crashes more, but so what? It's still an Apple, isn't it? You know, Apple, makers of the iPod?"

Just sayin'.

Well, despite FedEx saying my iMac was delayed beyond our control in China, It's reached Alaska as of 3:15 today.

I say a slim chance I can recieve it on Monday. We'll see what progress it makes tonight/tomorrow.

Really, Apple have been doing this kind of thing for a while. The G4 iMacs were rat nests of wires inside, and the iBooks are a challenge to open up without breaking stuff too.

You are correct. We got attached to our wonderful Power Macs and pristine Rev. A/B iMac G5's.

I agree a little with both sides on this issue. True, it does not matter how it looks inside. The Intel does look hastily thrown together, but since you don't see the inside, who cares. On the other hand, things that arranged would be easier to work on.

I remember visiting with an electrical inspector once and he said the first place you look when you inspect a new building is the supply panels. If they are neat and orderly you will almost always find the rest of the job to be excellent. If the panel looks like a mess, watch out for what other short cuts were taken.

Apple always took so much pride in anything G5. Look at the PowerMacs or the Rev. A and B iMacs. The heatsinks alone showed the engineers pride in that processor. Now of course everyone hates the G5, but I think the days of Apple showcasing their interior are over. From now on expect to find the same internals in a Mac that you will find in any PC. I think I even read a rumor on here that Apple was having Intel play a big part in the new Pro machines design, so you know it won't be pretty, but it should be fast.

i care how it looks inside...im paying alot of freaking money for style and performance....if u dont care then get a dell.:p

Inner style, too? ;) Performance is at the top of my list (it could look like a piece of crap, but as long as it does what I need it to....) and then I would rank appearance/style after that, but only on the outside. As long as nothing impairs performance due to a messy inside, I don't really care what the inside looks like, especially when I'm not going to be poking around in there doing upgrades or the like. :)
