Kind of got excited to try out the iphone mirroring feature so acted irrationally and i updated my 2019 i
15inch 2.3ghz intel mac to Sequoia…
my mac is soo much slower, everything is slow..Safari in particular is incredibly slow..

first time a macOs update slows down my mac this much..i know it will get better with updates soon but my mac is lmost unusable.

reverting to an older version. Cant wait to get my m4 mbp

so, you're singular experience should dictate what everyone else does? hmmm 🤔

possible that spotlight was still indexing? or that, if you gave it more time, you'd sort out the particular issue that you were having?

either way, reporting one's experience can be very helpful. but 'the sky is falling' posts are never productive.

That sounds not very promising.

Anyway, I always take a wait and see attitude with macOS upgrades. If I had an extra Mac lying around for casual use I'd probably be tempted, but not messing with my production machine.

Good luck and I hope the issues sort themselves out. As @fisherking wrote, it could be an indexing issue.

That was my first thought

True, but sometimes a good warning is helpful. As a general rule for machines that serve a purpose other than testing or hobby, never update to a new OS still in beta or right after it comes out.

Ur right..maybe “stay away” was a bit extreme but this release is particularly slow for me.

And regarding indexing, its been almost 24h since updating ( I have also tried rebooting a couple of times)…usually other release are pretty smooth by now…And safari has never been this slow, I was shocked by how Chrome is less slow than safari…

But again, this is just my experience..

since you're on an intel mac, you might try things like resetting the NVRAM, and/or the SMC... good luck with it (and your upcoming M4 👍

I've updated my MBP 15" from 2018 (Intel i9) -> no performance issues.
Im surprised. What are the most intensive apps are you using? And Safari is not laggier than usual? Mine could not handle a 2 intelliJ windows, a couple of safari tabs and the iPhone Mirroring.

I downgraded back to Monterrey and it feels so smooth in contrast, smoother than Sonoma or or ventura probably felt..might reconsider at .1 or .2

Safari feels snappier and the rest feels the same as with Sonoma (streaming movies, e-mail...). Also iPhone mirroring works very smooth (iPhone 14 Pro).

2019 16” 2,4GHz 32GB here. First time I cant say its snappy. Superslow.
weird, I got same as you (mines i7) and its working just fine, can't see much difference from sonama, only reason I upgraded was for the iPhone mirroring app, sadly this doesn't work for me ie, click on mirroring app on mbp, phone then shows login screen for passcode, enter passcode on phone, phone comes on ok but iPhone mirroring app on mbp just says unable to connect to iPhone, probably something im doing wrong!

yes I made sure that wifi and bluetooth were on same, I checked 2factor authorisation was on both and I made sure both were logged on to iCloud, am watching for others having same problems, the app definitely sees my phone as my phone reacts to the prompt from the app by my phone instantly asks me to input my passcode, I do this and all the app says is cannot connect to iPhone (iPhone 12), anybody sorted this yet?

can someone tell me the correct way to do this on a 2019 16inch intel i7 running sequoia, got no problems yet with sequoia but have got a problem were battery constantly charges to 100% when plugged in then dongs when lid is shut and upon opening lid shows a pic of a power cord thingy with a battery 100% sign, very annoying in the night! otherwise everything still good.

I am only here for this comment. I knew it will come before. ;) Is this really a thing still? Even my MBP 2011 with standard SSD never slowed down directly after an update.

Update: Its been less than 24h since downgrading all the way down to Monteray (macOS 12) and I must say it was a really good descision as my Mac as never felt snappier. The most noticeable is moving windows arounds, its so smooth. Making me rethink updating the software after a mac turned 3y or older...

Only hassle was finding versions of software that worked with macOS12 (like mySQL, Docker and zoom) but found compatible version after looking around
