Yeah that build of Leopard is older than 10.4.11 is. I’m not sure TFF actually runs on GM 10.5.0. It might, I’ve never tried. But 10.4.11 was rolled out a day before 10.5.1.

I think I got TFF to launch on one of the Leopard betas, but it froze within seconds and then crashes. I don’t remember which build it was.

9a241 sadly is the most usable Leopard beta on my G3, with the 9a303 build being the worst.

Hi @wicknix

A question for you, mindful how this may not be browser-related, but system-related:

I‘ve noticed how on Build 10A96 of Snow Leopard, when I try to use, for example, the “Attach files” button (here on the MR forums) or if I try to add an Add-on extension from a local .xpi file, the modal dialogue box for finding a file fails to open. Instead, in Console, this particular message appears:

Jul 25 23:12:12 glaciologia interwebppc[311]: *** -[GeckoNSApplication setHelpMenu:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x49df60 Jul 25 23:12:12 glaciologia interwebppc[311]: Mozilla has caught an Obj-C exception [NSInvalidArgumentException: *** -[GeckoNSApplication setHelpMenu:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x49df60]

If it is a system issue, I don’t yet have an idea where to begin looking for either of “GeckoNSApplication” or “setHelpMenu”. But by the same token, this may be an incompatibility with the TFF/Interweb code base and 10A96 or any of the 10.5.8-backported components added to improve 10A96 functionality. It could also be related to whatever is parsing objective-C. Thing is, I don’t remember a time when the open dialogue box has opened in 10A96 (which is to say: it might have worked early in my testing from earlier 2020, but that was quite some time ago). So I’m inclined to deduce that the issue lies with the system and not the browser.

I’m throwing this out there in the event you’ve ever run across that kind of log message in your own testing. Cheers.

Just gave both scenarios a test on Leopard. All seems well. See attached.
I haven't played around with SL on PPC yet, so i really am of no help here. Sorry.

Cheers

I'm about 2 weeks behind TFF's SPR2 release, but for those that like compiling their own browsers IWspr2 is now available: https://github.com/wicknix/InterWebPPC/releases/tag/FPR32SPR2

I wont be building this release as its just a minor certificate update mostly. There are however a few other changes specific to IW, but nothing overly important that can't wait until September.

On a side note: I found an extension called "block content" that i find very useful and it installs flawlessly on IW. Get it here: https://addons.palemoon.org/addon/block-content/. With the right options selected it really speeds up browsing and reduces fluff.

Cheers

But, we can still access 100 percent of the web without this, as TLS 1.4 isn't here yet until 2035 ?

@wicknix

your naming convention is confusing me :).
This InterWeb has nothing to share with the other InterWeb you created using UXP (FF60-based code), am I right?

TY

Correct. The use of "PPC" in the name, much like IceWeaselPPC and ArticFoxPPC, just means it's for powerpc 10.4 and 10.5 to kind of seperate it as all of these are built for multiple platforms using multiple code bases. This is based on the soon to be defunct TFF.

IWPPC fpr32spr5 is now released for those who like to build their own. Prebuilt versions will be coming in the next couple days. First will be the generic G3 build, then the G4/G5 builds will follow.

Cheers

Thank you for your work, this is really great!
Many sites looks good in the InterWebPPC, but some sites have problems
ispmanager server panel for example, I just include screenshot, if you visit url, please do not be afraid with certificate, this is normal,
or https://www.nic.ru blank screen, I just get it in minute.
such sites not so few. This problem is in previous InterWebPPC, and TTF, and current version InterWebPPC also.
InterWebPPC is really best for now, so, is the any way to fix it, may be in settings, or is it impossible? Where does this problem lead from?

Unfortunately some sites wont display, or display properly. Being based on FF45 these browsers are older and lacking some things required for todays web. My guess would be those sites require newer javascript or web components. Neither of which are supported in the older mozilla code. The problem stems from google and lazy site admins who are using googles pre-canned code which mainly targets chrome/edge. Unless someone can port chrome or ff quantum to 10.4/10.5, (which is more than likely impossible) there really is no fix for those sites.

Cheers

I understand...
I'd like to ask also about blocking java script fuctional (like noscript)
is it possible to use with InterWebPPC ? How enable it ?

Many non-functional websites like GitHub need this js functionality, + browser supports:

It is not impossible it could be added to TFF at some point; that js functionality is reportedly in mozjs60, and mozjs60 is recently available on MacPorts for PPC Tiger, Leopard, and all Intel darwin os versions.

Maybe in a few days. Giving the G5 a rest as its been pegged at 100% cpu for 3 days straight with those last 3 builds. Otherwise if someone else builds it i'll happily link to it or upload it to the repo releases page.

Cheers
