I disagree. That's too much hardware to be released in a 2 months period. Something has to be unveiled on WWDC. Not prior though

No it isn't, Apple have done it before iPhone's and iPad's at a September event followed by Mac's in October.

I just was looking and saw that last years March event invites went out the 10th of March. Then I looked and realized that tommrow is April 10th. I know the month is off but even so Apple could announce a event tommorow matching their previous date of the 10th. Yes its all anecadotal and I'm reading way to much into this but well someone's gotta be the crazy person staying up all night drawing connections bewtween things that have no connection :D:):apple:
Wait, you were early on jumping on the 4/15 bandwagon... what happened?

Is this going to be a "thing" now? Will there be a new thread every day wondering if "today is the day that invites go out"? After all, tomorrow is 4/11 or 4-1-1 which is the number in the U.S. for directory assistance (and slang for "information"). Apple could sent out invites on 4/11 as "information" of the announcement. :p

It's going to be a long 5 months until the actual invite goes out.

Proof of the new one flying off the shelves? Also this is a prime time to release new Pro models uncontested as the current iPad is, why wouldn't they take advantage of the opportunity.

Bcause I went to 3 different best buys this weekend to find the one I wanted and the Apple reps at each store told me.

What would have been more likely is for them to have had an event a few weeks to announce new iPad pros, then launch the new consumer iPad afterwards in a press release.

I wanted to start a fresh rumor thread except this time if I am wrong I will still be here. It's a matter of principle;) and I bet 1 trillion bucks April is the timeframe for new iPads

I do not remember who said it, it could have been Gruber or Mossberg, but they believed that there would not be a spring event because of the Clips app that was released. The app would have been a great thing to talk about and show off on stage and if there was an event happening soon, they would have likely held the release of Clips for that.

I mean if iPads are ready they will hold a event regardless of clips app.

Oh I definitely get that, I was thinking more of the reverse. If there were new iPads upcoming that an event would be held for. (iPP2 or something like that) I would think that they would have held on to the Clips app until they could demo it on stage. One of the opening acts before announcing new hardware.

I had mentioned that in the other thread as well about the Clips app - it was Gruber on his podcast. Apple held a private hands on for several tech journalists in late march to see the new iPad, product red iPhone and extended time with the Clips app. They were close enough that if an event was coming up in April, they really likely would have waited to unveil it at the event. Of all products the Clips app it sounded like they were excited about and would have given it stage time.

I'd love to see new Pros this month (or even next), but I still think it's unlikely. If they were close to having them ready, they would have done all the updates at once. Could have spent time with the new iPad Pros, show off the Clips app, briefly show the 9.7" iPad, and then do one of the classic slides showing the refreshed line up which really would have reinforced the direction of iPad and iPad Pro.

What if the iPad Pro 2 is so big they wont do any pre show news and updates, if history is any indicator the 2nd gen Pro iPads will be really BIG(in size and features)

I knew I heard it recently. A good, albeit long, podcast. But I guess I will have more time to listen since Mossberg is retiring.

That is sad to hear, but good for him. Crazy to think 47 years. I didn't always agree with his thoughts, but always enjoyed listening to him.

I dunno. I think if/when they're ready to show off the new Pros, they'll show other stuff as well if needed/ready.

Hello my friend:

I have the same situation as yours --- eagerly waiting for iPad Pro 2. Actually I have waited since September 9th, 2015, larger Pro announcement date and that's a crazy long time period! It seems like my waiting time is still increasing continuously.

Currently I'm using iPad 4 on iOS 10.3.1, the most sluggish iPad running the latest firmware. It's gonna be a huge upgrade from A6X chip to A10X (release before September) or A11X (release after September) and I'm excited for that.

Last but not least, let's hope that invites will be sent out within this month. :p:p;)

Oh wow, and I'm thinking the upgrade from a Air 2 will be awesome, you will be BLOWN AWAY, I'm laughing :D if rumors are true 1 core in the A10X will be about as powerful as 4 entire A6X processors. We will see in a few hours and then if not then then possibly later this week :);). Emojis can be posted but only the ones they have in the bar with all your editing options, its the little smiley face.

If there are big features and upgrades will hold an event they like to show off new stuff and demo on stage. I just don't think there will be any iPads before September.

What part of history is an indicator of that? o_O

I was referring to iPad 2, new slim design with impressive power. Then iPad Air 2, yet even thinner while giving the iPad a unprecedented amount of performance, more than ever before. The second versions of iPads have always been notably improved over their previous models

While the latest iPad was more of a "sidegrade" than an upgrade to the Air 2, I don't see why they would release new models just weeks after its launch. Why wouldn't they have unveiled them all at once? At this point, I'm thinking that summer is the soonest we'll see new iPads, but fall or even the holiday season is much more likely.

First off, I am neither promoting nor degrading this iPad.

The 2017 iPad was neither a "side grade", nor an "upgrade." It created a new iPad category. Affordable. This iPad was a very smart move on Apple's part for once over the last year. They are the hottest device on Apple and are already receiving discounts. All the bashers in here who think they are "Pros" need to take a few classes in Marketing. Sure it does not have a laminated screen. How many outside of these forums really care? It's a minority.
This device is being craved by every person who does not need a Surface 4 type tablet and is on a tight budget.

Apple will have an all time record for iPad sales in 2017. Guaranteed. It's fit's a perfect hole.

In the fall, IMO, we will see

iPad Mini
iPad 9.7"
iPad Pro 10.5"

I'm uncertain as the the 12.9's future. It will be interesting to see what happens. :apple:

:p:pRight now, just be a cute person to wait for new iPad Pro. See you soon, bro and most importantly, don't forget to preorder Pro 2 on time for early delivery. Wish you a wonderful yet peaceful day!

That was not an update, not even close. More of a downgrade. Apple had extra iPad Air casings lying around and saw a way to sell them for cheap.

If that was actually the case, that Apple had extra iPad Air cases lying around, why did Apple not actually USE the same cases?

Apple used the same DESIGN, then tweaked it (by moving the volume controls and removing the mute lock switch). These required a brand new case. They could not use the same case. It's SIMILAR, but not the same.

I shall refer you to Rentless Power's post on the first page. Its probably the same mold, just slightly tweaked. I already conceded the point that they may not have millions of casings lying around, but they do have some, since its still a refurbished product that Apple sells. Therefore there are extra casings still available to Apple.

Sorry - I should have read the entire thread before replying to on something that was already replied to.
