I just was looking and saw that last years March event invites went out the 10th of March. Then I looked and realized that tommrow is April 10th. I know the month is off but even so Apple could announce a event tommorow matching their previous date of the 10th. Yes its all anecadotal and I'm reading way to much into this but well someone's gotta be the crazy person staying up all night drawing connections bewtween things that have no connection :D:):apple:

I'm quoting your post, but this applies to a lot of posters here, so I'm singling you out to tell you that I'm not actually singling you out.

When it comes to announcements there seems to be this consensus that Apple has a crack numerology team who look at this stuff.

"Hey we want to launch this product, if we do it on the 17th then that's the 35th anniversary of Job's cat's first confirmed mouse kill, or we could do it on the 19th which is Cook's sister's husband's birthday, but also reflect exactly 498 days since we launched the 10.1 build 377594, and of course, if we convert the word "Apple" to ASCII and add up those values, that's also 498, so maybe the 19th is a better fit?

I'm pretty sure that they base it on things like product readiness, market trends, supply chain, and general conference logistics. :D

That was not an update, not even close. More of a downgrade. Apple had extra iPad Air casings lying around and saw a way to sell them for cheap.

Yep, that's totally and 100% correct.

"Extra iPad Air casings lying around"

Do people actually believe this?

Incredibly, yes they do. But there are people who also think that the government is flying overhead and dropping mind control chemicals.

Apple uses just in time manufacturing. Furthermore, Apple's procurement teams wouldn't be silly enough to buy millions of dollars of shells sitting in a warehouse for no reason. Apple's suppliers like Catcher Technology supply the iPad chassis on an as needed basis. This tightly linked supply chain is one of the reasons why iPhone and iPad production will never move to the U.S.

Even if we ignore the above, the iPad (2017) chassis has different volume button, speaker, and microphone cutouts from the iPad Air. Not to mention the iPad (2017) comes in gold color which was never available on the iPad Air.

No, neither Apple nor their suppliers keep extra iPad casings around.

I can see it now, Foxconn hiring hundreds of new employees to take the old Air cases and tweak them to make then work for the new iPad 2017. Yes, that makes total sense.

Spidey? Is that you???
Nope just your friendly nieghborhood Batman:cool:

I'm thinking, unless someone puts the supply chain pieces together, there could be an announcement at any time, or not. Their secret society offers no glimpse.

I see no logic against this (as if Apple is constrained by logic anyway).

The thing with them all slipping to 2-3 weeks, and all settling on the "May 8" pickup date is pretty telling. I sold mine recently because I got a free tablet line, now I want an LTE one -- but they're all sold out. Ha! So... I literally can't get one until they either restock, or update.

Okay, that's not true. ONE store has them in stock. But I may as well wait.

Some stores here don't have physical stock of the 12.9 inch too; one guy even told me it's been like this for months!

Yah my store says shipping 2-3 weeks and store pickup on May 8th . Looks like something has to be coming as I don't see how Apple would be having "supply chain issues" 1 and a half years since its release and with all the recent marketing it doesn't make any since that they would be restraining production to create the allusion of high demand.

On here, we don't exactly have Apple stores so there's no store pickup dates like this; usually Apple Singapore delivers to us straight at the delivery address. The stores I referring to are those that are setup up by companies acting on the behalf of Apple (e.g. epicenter, NuBox)

So if you want new iPads, all these choices are available. If you want refurbs, you can only order online (that's how I got my refurb iPad Air)

I wouldn't think today since today is the beginning of the Jewish holiday of Passover. Today AMD releases it's new Ryzen 5 processors as well. Also Microsoft plans to start delivering its new Windows 10 "creators update" globally, starting on April 11. I have no idea what a Ryzen 5 processor is or what a Windows 10 'creators update' is either but they seem important. I can make an argument for not releasing important info on days that correspond to major religious holidays and not so much when it comes to product announcements from other computer/phone manufacturers. The whole possibility of iPad Pro updates came from articles from 'folks in the know' and everything else from there has been trying to figure out how little bits of other information might or might not give a clue. Ultimately right now it's all up to the Magic 8 Ball. Shakes Magic 8 Ball - 'Maybe'

Hey purk up tommmorow is a new day, and a little birdie told me invites are going out ;)
Wow today just wasn't a good Monday though to be enti

UNless we coincidentally live in the same place, I also have May 8th pickup dates for my store in fact a lot of stores within 500 miles have the same date. What the bloody hell is going on? :Do_O
